( Arata's POV )

Arata: This is not what it looks like.

Standing on top of Sun with his mother looking over us that was all I could say.

Rei: What do you mean, you trying to kiss my daughter or you drying her legs to return them to normal?

Arata: At this point I don't even know.

Rei: Hehe calm down, I'm not upset, honestly I wouldn't mind if you went all the way with her.

Sun: Mom!

Rei: But you have to remember, you can't just rush ahead just because the others aren't here.

Sun: ...yes, I know that.

Arata: Wait, what does that mean?

Rei: I'll explain that later, why don't you two finish enjoying the festival?

After saying that Sun's mother left and we sat together for a moment until our awkwardness disappeared, I helped Sun to stand up and we followed Rei's advice and we enjoyed the rest of the festival.

As the night was coming to an end we approached a stall selling simple jewelry, I don't think I will ever forget this day but still I wanted a souvenir of this day.

The shopkeeper said some strange words and I was surprised to see that it was the same old man who was in that strange shop a few days ago.

Arata: There is no enlightenment, just enjoying the festival with an old friend.

The old man searched under his seat and pulled out a pair of rings, one white and the other black, both of which had a red crystal on top.

Old man: These rings can measure compatibility between the people who wear them and for a young couple like you I have it at a special price.

Sun seemed fascinated with the rings and after today's events I couldn't calm my curiosity to things like this, I bought the rings and we put them on immediately, the white ring for Sun and the black one for me.

The moment we put them on a strong red light came out of the crystals and the old man put a smile on his face.

Old man: a very strong bond, your destinies will be intertwined for the rest of your days, congratulations are in order.

I didn't know whether to believe what he was saying but Sun blushed at the old man's words.

With that we finished our date but when we were about to leave the old man called me and discreetly put something in my palm, it was a handful of rings just like the one Sun had, I was a little confused by that but the old man just gave me a wink in response.

We walked to my house and when we got there, I heard my mother bombarding Sun's mother with questions, I guess she revealed her identity as a mermaid to her and she couldn't contain her curiosity.

They seemed to be enjoying their time but when we entered things got serious and we sat in front of the others, Now we were going to talk about what she said about not getting ahead of the others.

Rei: Arata, you still remember nothing about my daughter.

Arata: no, I'm sorry.

Rei: I see, then you could take my daughter as your wife?

Arata: Sure... Wait! what did you say?

Rei: You can't remember but, this is not the first time you see Sun in her mermaid form, and the last time you saw her like this was during an emergency situation.

Rei: The last time you were here Arata, Sun and two other girls were kidnapped.

Sakura: What are you saying, that never happened.

Rei: We were lucky and the situation was resolved quickly and I never told you about it, but that incident unleashed another kind of problems, there were some who wanted to take Arata away from you, the only thing that stopped them, was a engagement between him and Sun that was formed after the incident.

Sakura: Who wants to take Arata? Who tried to kidnap him? Why is an engagement between the two of them going to stop them?

Rei: Well that's because we are from a pretty powerful group ourselves, we are a Yakuza family after all.

Arata: A Yakuza family!

Rei: I know this is too much to take but this is to protect both of you, I assure you that we will do everything possible so that you and your mother can have a normal life, That is why I ask you again, could you take my daughter as your wife?

Things were getting pretty complicated but when Sun and her mother looked at me seriously and said that a marriage would protect us both I had to give an appropriate answer.

Arata: I... accept, but regarding a normal life it doesn't seem right to me, if there is something that could threaten my family I want to know about it.

Rei: I understand but before revealing all that, all those involved must be present, for now trust us I will not let anyone threaten your family.

They said they've been protecting us for a decade so I can trust them for a little longer.

Arata: I understand.

Sun: Arata, mother, please take care of me from now on.

I guess having Sun as my fiancée after discovering that the supernatural world exists isn't the worst thing that could happen to me.

Arata: Wait, you didn't say why you meant that Sun couldn't get ahead of the others?

Rei: Oh that's it, that's because you have a second fiancée, and possibly a third.
