Chapter 2: I'M INTO ROMANCE - 02
Before I could comprehend what this might mean, certain things began happening to me.
"This! My hands are getting bigger, no, my entire body is changing!"
I panicked and tried to stand up, but ended up tripping and falling onto the table.
"Darn it! My life is over. I'll be ostracized for causing trouble on the first day of class!"
Slowly, I lifted my head and looked around.
"Huh?!"
Something surprised me. Everyone I imagined would be startled by me or looking at me strangely was frozen in their seats, and Instructor Kim Soohyuk, who was behind the podium, was also frozen with his mouth open.
"Aarg! My head... It hurts!"
Information and memories flooded my mind in rapid succession.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaarrg!"
Just when I thought it was over, more information and memories were delivered.
My only solace was to throw myself on the ground and roll back and forth while holding my head.
After what felt like an eternity, everything calmed down.
Without caring about my surroundings, I floated in the air. With a wave of my hand, a full-length mirror appeared in front of me.
"Oh! This is so cool."
Black eyes with red irises, white hair cut in a professional style, a tall and slender stature, and a body adorned with perfect proportions.
In the reflection, a 17-year-old young man, standing at 1.79 meters tall, looked back at me.
Everything about him exuded an aura of grandeur and magnificence. The blue and white uniform of Cube Academy further highlighted these details.
"Even though I haven't seen my appearance since coming to this world, and even my appearance in my past life, I'm sure it could never compare to this. I can say with absolute conviction, I am the most handsome man in the world. No, in the entire universe."
Having admired my new appearance enough, I dismissed the mirror with a light wave and returned to my desk.
Sitting down, I pondered over what I had just gained.
"I have to admit... That guy was really right. Goku and Saitama would die just by me opening my eyes. This character is so overpowered, and here I was dismissing him!"
A being that does not adopt the word "IMPOSSIBLE" in its existence.
"Versatile in everything... Creation, destruction, mastery of weapons, versatility in hand-to-hand combat. I hit the jackpot."
This was just a small scope of what Anos Voldigoad was capable of. If we were to list everything related to him, it would take hours. And even if there's something he can't do, eventually he will—that's the synonym of his existence.
"Well! I think it's time to get back to it."
My pupils glowed, and an incredible shape took form.
These eyes were one of the three most overpowered eyes of Anos, more precisely, these were the weakest if we disregard his base "Magic Eyes." But even so, these eyes could directly affect and nullify abilities at a conceptual level.
This ocular power not only has the ability to nullify other powers but also can cause those it gazes upon to self-destruct. It can manipulate laws and functions as the ultimate Anti-Magic weapon, activating automatically if any spell tries to affect its user. Its power is undoubtedly something very unbalanced.
"Crack!!"
With the sound of glass breaking, the world returned to normal, and the colors that were once gray came back to life.
"Now, with that said, stand up and follow me! Now!"
Following the instructor's words, we all stood up and began to follow him.
Walking with my hands in my pockets, a firm posture, and my head held high, I could hear the murmurs of female students staring at me.
"Hey! Who is he?"
"What do you mean, you idiot? He's from our class. Didn't you see him entering the classroom earlier? He's really handsome. I'm sure this is the first time in history that the Veritas class has so many exceptional figures."
"Yes! Kim Suho, Shin Jonghak, and him! They will be the targets of competition for everyone at Cube."
While the girls were talking, the young man who was the subject of their conversation contemplated what the second girl had just said.
-You didn't see him in the classroom earlier?-
"Whoever is responsible for sending me to this world has completely integrated my existence into this universe. So that's what that message meant."
A small smile formed on my lips.
"This will avoid some minor inconveniences. And the best part, unlike Hajin, I didn't become the possessor of a body that already existed here. I had a new body created from scratch, where my existence and this body's existence are one and the same. Of course, my background story is literally the same in both lives."
Born in the United States of America, after my family died in a plane crash when I was 11 years old... I lived in an orphanage. When I turned 16, I tried to enter the Hero Training Center in the United States, but my entry was denied due to a lack of family history, and so as my last hope, I ended up here in South Korea.
What a background. Literally almost the same as my other life. With the difference that before, I still had a huge inheritance.
"Ssh!"
After the instructor placed his hand on the security system of a room ahead, the door opened, revealing a gigantic room adorned with many weapons on all sides.
"Wow!"
"Incredible!"
The students couldn't help but exclaim in admiration.
As expected from the hero training center of Korea.
"I don't remember giving you time to admire things! Hurry up and choose your weapons! Go!"
Instructor Kim Soohyuk urged in a way that made many students flinch.
And everyone began selecting their weapons.
Kim Suho, the protagonist of Hajin's novel, chose a sword.
Yeoo Yeonha, just like in the novel, chose a whip.
Shin Jonghak chose a spear, just like in the novel.
Rachel, the princess of England, chose a rapier.
Nayun chose a bow and arrow.
And last but not least, after some contemplation, Kim Hajin, the author, chose a pistol.
And just like in the canon, many people began to mock and laugh at him.
Well, if they knew that this guy would become one of the strongest heroes in the world in the future, they might spit blood imagining it.
"Cadet Kim Hajin, is this going to be your weapon? I remember seeing you using a sword at the Military Academy."
The instructor asked while looking at the file.
"Yes, I decided to change."
"After entering Cube?"
"Yes."
"Okay, all decisions at Cube are made by the cadets."
Without much interruption, the instructor agreed but made sure to leave a remark.
"No matter if the decision is right or wrong, the cadets will take responsibility. Never forget that."
More and more murmurs began to come from the students' mouths. Mockery and questions full of hatred and malice.
"Bunch of idiots. Many of you won't even be able to last a year here at Cube, as many voluntarily drop out due to the pressure. Tsk!"
By the logic of the new world where magical power is the driving force of beings, firearms became almost useless.
Weapons were still excellent tools in this world. But that was only for ordinary soldiers who couldn't handle mana.
Instead of traditional bullets, the weapons of this world used 'magic bullets,' bullets containing compressed mana with the power to kill mid-level low-ranking monsters. In comparison, the training saber that cost 5 million won could only kill low-ranking monsters on average. So, the gun was a stronger weapon by itself.
But heroes and mercenaries who could wield magical power didn't choose firearms. This was because "magical power" couldn't be applied to guns, so no matter how strong the gun user was, the weapon had a clear limit in power.
When choosing a main weapon, the most important aspect was its origin. In short, the grade of a weapon increased the more grandiose its origin was.
For example, firearms were divided into three categories: mass-produced, custom-made, or masterpieces. Swords, on the other hand, had many more: artifact, armament, treasure, mythical, legendary, etc.
This happened because myths and legends manifested in this world.
The sword was a weapon with a long and deep history. Naturally, many swords descended from myths and legends.
Sword of Freyr, demonic blade Muramasa, magic sword Tyrfing, holy sword Durendal, King Arthur's sword Excalibur, etc... In this world, many legendary weapons remained undiscovered in 'Dungeons' or 'Towers.' Each of them was an invaluable treasure. Of course, these treasures could only be used by those proficient with the respective weapons.
Consequently, heroes or mercenaries chose older weapons. Even if they hit a bottleneck in their growth, a high-grade weapon could help them break through. Of course, this didn't only apply to swords but also to spears, bows and arrows, shields, axes, etc.
"Understood, Cadet Kim Hajin!"
Instructor Kim Soohyuk nodded slightly and then turned his gaze toward me.
"Cadet Theo Sagan, aren't you going to choose a weapon?"
The attention previously on Kim Hajin was entirely directed toward me.
...
