Chapter 95
“Welcome! Are you looking for a household-use core?”
After receiving my cash from the bank, I immediately made my way to a core shop.
For household-use magic tools, a Rank I or II core could last several years. Because of that, these kinds of core shops always stocked plenty of low-rank cores.
“Actually, I’m looking for a commercial-use core. Do you have any?”
However, what I wanted was a dungeon core that could enhance my blessing.
So far, I had noticed that only Rank IV cores allowed for the acquisition of elemental magic. Meanwhile, Rank V and higher cores, as well as special dungeon cores, could be used for blessings and skills.
“Let’s see… We currently have two Rank V dungeon cores available. The rest are Rank IV or lower.”
“I’ll take both Rank V cores. I’ll pay in cash.”
Without hesitation, I handed over the money.
“Excuse me, may I ask you something?”
“Yes, how can I help?”
After leaving the core shop, I made my way to an alchemy specialty store.
Unlike in my homeland, where most alchemy shops were run by elderly women, this store was managed by a cute girl. While the old ladies back home treated me well, this kind of customer service felt refreshing and lifted my mood.
“I’d like to buy all the alchemy-related magic tools from here to there.”
“Huh?!”
A boy who looked about sixteen suddenly walked in and started bulk-buying everything. The girl’s reaction was understandable.
“A-Are you sure? That would be… quite expensive.”
To that, I simply responded—
“No problem. I’ll pay in cash.”
I smiled as I spoke.
“That’s quite a convenient blessing you have… I’m kind of jealous.”
As the store clerk watched, I opened my Fake Room and started moving my purchases inside.
Eve was still busy, so I handled everything myself this time.
“You think so? It’s a blessing that lets me store items, so it’s useful for shopping and moving.”
In reality, I was buying these for my own use, but phrasing it this way made it sound more natural.
This way, people would assume I was just using my blessing for work.
“Alright, that’s everything.”
“T-Thank you very much! Please visit us again!”
The girl beamed as she saw me off.
“Next… time to buy up all the blacksmithing tools.”
I took this opportunity to fully equip The World with everything it needed. I visited a blacksmith’s shop and purchased all the necessary magic tools.
Just as I was carrying a furnace magic tool that radiated intense heat—
“Hey, kid…”
“Yes?”
An older blacksmith called out to me.
“That thing… isn’t it heavy?”
I tilted my head.
“Not really. I’m used to carrying heavy stuff.”
If I found this heavy, there’s no way I’d be able to swing logs coated in Verite.
“No, no… ‘used to it’ doesn’t quite explain it… Even a group of grown men would struggle with that…”
“Something wrong?”
The old man mumbled to himself, lost in thought.
“Is that part of your blessing…? Never mind, sorry for stopping you.”
It seemed he reached his own conclusion. I simply continued moving my purchases.
I kept visiting various stores, buying up anything that caught my eye.
The items I had been holding off on purchasing until now would not only boost productivity inside The World but also help me keep my more conspicuous projects a secret.
Each time I made a purchase, I’d casually say, “I’m just running errands,” so even if I went on a shopping spree, I had an easy excuse.
With an abundance of funds at my disposal, I found myself thoroughly enjoying the experience.
And then…
“Alright, I’ve bought everything I need. Time to get to work.”
After finishing my shopping, I returned to The World.
For now, I had roughly placed all the equipment where it belonged, and I’d ask Eve to organize everything later.
I also left the analysis of the new dungeon cores to Eve since she was the expert.
“First… let’s start with this stone.”
I picked up one of the used cores I had retrieved from the bank.
These cores, stored inside a box, were essentially magical residue—completely drained of power. Since they could explode during disposal, the bank regularly hired people to throw them into a volcano.
But I had a different idea—I wanted to see if they could be restored.
“Kweeeh!”
Having spent the whole day running around, Kaiser pecked at the box of used cores, demanding attention.
“Hey! Don’t peck at that!”
“Kwee~”
Perhaps mistaking it for a toy, Kaiser grabbed one of the used cores in his beak and flew off somewhere.
“Kyururun?”
Next to appear was Carol.
She sniffed at the core with her round, curious eyes, and then—
“No, don’t eat that!”
She clutched the used core in both hands, opened her mouth wide, and attempted to take a bite.
If she ate something like that, she’d definitely get sick…
For some reason, both Kaiser and Carol seemed strangely interested in the used cores. Before I could stop them, Carol also snatched one and scampered away.
“Oh well… I’ll just collect them later.”
Losing two of them wasn’t a big deal.
“Alright. Let’s try Amplify on Clean.”
My goal was to find a way to recycle used cores.
“And now, let’s use Repair on the used core.”
In this world, it was common knowledge that once a core lost its power, it could never be restored.
But time and again, my blessing had shattered common sense.
Among these was a former Rank VI dungeon core. If I could restore it, I could gain blessings for an incredibly low cost.
Would my gamble pay off…?
“…It’s not working?”
There was a faint response from the core, but it remained inert. My Repair seemed to be ineffective.
After some trial and error, I started considering accepting my failure.
Then—
“Kyurun!”
“Kwekwee!”
Kaiser and Carol returned.
“Hey, you two! Stop running off with things!”
I shot them a reproachful look—
“Kwee! Kwee!”
“Kyur! Kyur!”
The two creatures placed their cores at my feet.
“Wait… what happened to those…?”
I couldn’t believe my eyes.
Kaiser’s core glowed a brilliant blue.
Carol’s core shimmered a pure white.
