Chapter 1466: Going Into The Dungeons
-----
To go for the Goo Farm Dungeon and the Blind Fish Dungeon, we had to move to the southwest of the city. We did so by flying to make it quicker, using magic to fly was easy, although asking our familiars to hitch us a ride even easier.
With Furoh's help, he turned into a black wyvern and flew us towards the southwest. We flew past the walls that led to the "outskirts" of the city and into huge caves that were considered "wilderness" inside of the mountain.
A beautiful, enormous caves that stretched for hundreds of meters spread before us, covered with bright crystals illuminating the entire place.
"So these are the Luminescent Caves!"
It was as if they were plains, but inside a huge cave and there weren't any grasses, but mushrooms everywhere, and huge jewels.
These jewels were apparently protected by law and if someone was caught mining them they would get arrested.
However, monsters would occasionally appear here, sometimes huge hordes of creatures, which were free for anybody to hunt down.
As we flew above everything and close to the very high ceiling, we saw several parties of adventurers hunting said monsters.
Some of them resembled bear-sized moles with metallic claws, kind of like Brownie.
Others were giant jellyfish that floated in midair and had very bright colors, which seem to paralyze people when they release a bright flash of light.
Some were flightless birds adapted to dig underground and create burrows resembling very fat chickens with big, sharp shovel-shaped beaks.
These were part of the Shovel Bird Monster Families; they spread and had many shapes and forms across the mountains.
"There's more monsters outside than I imagined, it's certainly not a place for weak people to wander around!" Celica said.
"Well, it certainly isn't, but I've heard there are smaller villages settled down into the mountain deeper areas, especially near mines called Mining Villages," I explained. "Have you visited some, Ruby?"
"Ah, well… once when I was very little. My father was born in a Mining Village, it's called Emerald Town, they mined Magic Emeralds," said Ruby. "There I met my uncles and grandma and grandpa from my father side… Since then, I have never met them again." Find more chapters on My Virtual Library Empire
"Oh, and where is that town at?" I wondered.
"Deeper, into the second layer," she said.
"Layer?" asked Celica.
"Ah, well, the mountain's interior is so huge and has many stratums, they're called layers," said Ruby. "The First Layer is where the city of Evercraft is at. It's literally almost at the peak of the mountain after all. Then the second layer where precious gems are mined, the third layer is where precious metals are mined, the fourth layer is where salt and other products are found, and then the last, the fifth layer, is connected to an underground volcano and is really hot. It's said that there's precious magic gems down there but not many people venture to such dangerous places."
"That's interesting…" I nodded. "I'm guessing the hardest dungeons are below?"
"Yeah kind of," she nodded. "Ah! Over there, Sylphy!"
She pointed into the distance, there was a road leaving to a small corridor.
We descended and decided to walk, moving through the colorful and illuminated caves.
Eventually, we reached a huge lake that stretched forward for many meters.
"This is the Blind Fish Dungeon, we're here." Said Ruby. "Yep, it matches the indications…"
"Wait, what? Already? There wasn't any gate or something…" said Celeste.
"Ah, that's because it's an open-air dungeon. In a way, you enter it through that long corridor we walked through," she explained. "Hm, the Goo Farm is to the west. So over there… probably another turn and there's a stair leading down, and a gate. The Goo Farm has a gate though."
"Nice, alright let's start fishing then!" I said. "Hmm, there's quite a few people here, huh?"
We noticed there were at least four more parties fishing for the fish using all kinds of tools.
Some ended diving underwater and coming with nothing though.
Others had patience and just sat down and waited for the fish to take the bait.
"Remember that there's rules that say we can't overfish, so we should hunt what we came here for," Ruby said.
"Okay, fine…" I nodded. "How many fishes did the request asked for, Celica?"
"Hmm, ten!" she said. "They only want the cores; we can keep the fish!"
"Alright!" nodded Celeste. "Should we just go and grab a few?"
"I wouldn't recommend that!" said Ruby, reading the book she was using to tell us all these things. "This lake has four types of deadly Blind Fishes. They're dangerous, if you approach they can snap you instantly…. Or hide immediately!"
"Hmm… if we had Aquarina here things would be so much easier…" I sighed. "Well, whatever! Let's do our best. I doubt they can harm us, so I'll go and get myself a bit wet and find the fish for you. I'll bring them here and you girls hunt them."
"Wait, Sylphy, think it over a bit more they'll…!"
Ruby tried to stop me, but I jumped into the water.
SPLASH!
The water was cold, and there wasn't even a single droplet of light in here. So I created light myself, spheres of light with magic.
"Hmm…"
While holding my breath, I swam down and quickly found the rocky floor, there were shiny coral-shaped jewels here and there.
Right, we had to gather these!
I quickly started picking some and saving them inside of Glutton.
However…
RUMBLE!
Something big approached, shaking the water.
I glanced behind me, noticing a giant catfish-like monster with no eyes, and huge mole-like claws modified from its fins.
"GROOOOGGHHH!"
It made a loud groan as it opened its jaws and attempted to suction me completely!
"Woah!"
I quickly covered my mouth before swallowing more water and quickly swam upwards, resisting its powerful suction force.
The creature followed me all the way up.
"It's here!"
As I swam to the surface…
SPLASH!
The huge fish emerged, chasing after me.
"Uwaah! She found a Blind Fish King already?!" Ruby panicked.
Once I leaped into ground, the fish… followed me, it was amphibious, moving with its huge claw-like fins!
"Alright Ruby it's all yours!" I said, running past her.
"All mine?!"
"GROOOGGHHHH!"
