Reincarnated With a Million Multiplies System

Chapter 18: The Flame of Rebellion

The days were growing darker with each passing moment. Yang Yu stood at the peak of Void Horizon's grand hall, looking out at the vast valley below. The air was thick with tension, and the distant rumble of thunder echoed through the sky, as though the heavens themselves were warning him of the storm that was rapidly approaching. His thoughts were clouded, his mind torn between the future of the sect and the path he had walked to get here. He had always known that power was a dangerous thing, but now, more than ever, he could feel its weight pressing down on him. Power was a double-edged sword, and he was beginning to understand just how far it could cut.

The battle with the Sky Reaching Sect, Thunderclap Clan, and Crimson Flame Sect was imminent. The combined forces of these sects were vast, their resources nearly limitless. It was a war that Void Horizon could not afford to lose. But as Yang Yu gazed out over the valley, he could not help but feel a sense of unease. The price of this victory, if they were to claim it, would be steep. Victory would not only demand their strength in battle—it would demand sacrifices. And those sacrifices might just be more than he was willing to make.

But there was no turning back now.

Yang Yu turned from the balcony and walked down the hall, his footsteps echoing in the empty corridor. His mind was sharp, calculating. Every step he took, every decision he made now, would determine the fate of Void Horizon. He could already hear the whispers, the murmurs of discontent among his disciples. The purge had silenced many, but it had also left a lingering fear—a fear that now seeped into the hearts of those who had remained loyal. Fear could keep them in line, but it would not sustain them. Fear could unite them for a time, but unity built on fear was fragile. And fragility was a weakness that could be exploited.

As Yang Yu made his way to the war room, the door creaked open, and Zhen Xiu stepped inside, his face serious. The once steady disciple now wore the weight of leadership on his shoulders. "Master," Zhen Xiu began, his voice low and cautious, "the enemy forces are closing in. Their armies are vast, and they've begun to position themselves near the borders of Void Horizon's territory. They'll be upon us within a matter of days."

Yang Yu's jaw tightened. "I knew this day would come," he muttered. "And we will be ready. Prepare the disciples. This battle is the one that will determine our future. We cannot afford to be complacent."

Zhen Xiu nodded but hesitated. "There's something else, Master. There are… reports of strange movements within the sect. Some disciples have begun to form groups, speaking in hushed tones. I've caught wind of conversations about rebellion, about challenging your authority. There's a growing discontent among the ranks."

Yang Yu's heart skipped a beat. He had anticipated this. The more power he consolidated, the more danger he would face from those who sought to take it from him. The fear he had instilled in his disciples might have kept them obedient for now, but it had also stoked the flames of ambition in those who saw the purge as an opportunity to rise. The price of fear was never just submission—it was the seeds of rebellion.

"I'll handle it," Yang Yu said, his voice firm. "If anyone dares to defy me, they will suffer the consequences. This sect will not fall to internal dissent. I'll crush any rebellion before it can take root."

Zhen Xiu hesitated. "Master, there are those who believe that a change in the leadership structure could benefit Void Horizon. Some, like Xiao Mei, have begun to question whether one man should hold all the power. They believe that a council, a shared leadership, would make us stronger. The talk of rebellion may be born from their ambition to create something different."

Yang Yu's expression darkened, and his hands curled into fists. Xiao Mei. He had known she was ambitious, but he hadn't anticipated her desire to seize control. It seemed that even his most trusted disciples were now eyeing his throne. "A council?" he repeated, his voice cold and dangerous. "There will be no council in Void Horizon. I built this sect with my blood and sweat. No one will take that from me."

Zhen Xiu lowered his gaze, clearly conflicted. "Master, I understand your position, but you cannot rule by fear alone. If Void Horizon is to survive this war, it needs unity. Unity not just in battle, but in spirit. We need more than just a leader—we need a vision that the disciples can rally behind."

Yang Yu turned away, his mind racing. "I am the vision of Void Horizon. I am its future. Without me, there is no Void Horizon."

Zhen Xiu did not argue, but his silence spoke volumes. He could see the internal conflict raging within his master. Yang Yu had always been a leader, a man who carved his path with his own hands. But the more power he gained, the more fragile that power became. To maintain it, he had been forced to resort to fear, manipulation, and harsh measures. And now, even that wasn't enough. His disciples were beginning to question him. And Xiao Mei, the one disciple he had trusted more than any other, had become the face of that rebellion.

"Prepare for the war," Yang Yu said finally, his voice cold and final. "We will fight and we will win. But once this battle is over, we'll deal with the treachery within. No one will take this sect from me. Not even the ones I've trusted."

As Zhen Xiu left, Yang Yu's thoughts remained in turmoil. The coming battle against the coalition of sects would be brutal, but it was not the war that concerned him most. It was the battle for control within his own walls. The cracks were already showing. The foundations of Void Horizon were weakening, and if he didn't act quickly, the sect might crumble under the weight of its own ambition.

The price of power had always been steep, but now, it seemed that the cost would be even higher. Void Horizon could not survive a civil war—at least, not while the world outside threatened to destroy it. Yang Yu had made the decisions that had brought him this far, but now, he had to decide how far he was willing to go to keep everything he had built from falling apart.

His mind kept returning to Xiao Mei. He had seen the spark of ambition in her eyes, but he had never imagined it would burn so brightly. Could he destroy her ambition without destroying the very foundation of the sect itself? Or would he be forced to make a choice between her and Void Horizon? It was a decision he could not afford to delay, for the fire of rebellion had already begun to spread, and once it took hold, it would be impossible to extinguish.

The flame of rebellion had been kindled, and Yang Yu knew that it would take everything he had to stamp it out before it consumed them all.
