Reincarnation In Smallville

Chapter 94: Speed and Power [94]

Luthor Mansion

The sky over Smallville was covered with thick clouds, hiding the moon and making the night even darker. The Luthor mansion, as imposing as ever, looked like a monument to the power and coldness of its occupants. Outside, in the silent garden, Clark watched the building, his expression unreadable as a light breeze swayed his jacket.

'It's time to shape the Luthors' minds once and for all.'

Clark took a deep breath, his silhouette disappearing into the darkness as he activated his invisibility. He walked up to the mansion's stone wall, lightly touching it with his fingers before easily passing through it. The cold and austere interior didn't intimidate him. He knew every corner of that place.

Lex's Room

Lex was lying in his bed, his face relaxed in sleep. Heavy curtains blocked any trace of external light, and the only sound in the room was the faint ticking of a wall clock.

Clark stood beside the bed, calmly observing Lex. 'You're more than you think, Lex. But you need guidance. And I'll make sure you have it.'

He extended his hand, his fingers hovering over Lex's forehead. A subtle glow emanated from his eyes as he accessed Lex's mind.

"Lex, listen to my voice."

Lex's body shifted slightly, but he remained asleep. Clark continued, his voice soft and firm, echoing in Lex's mind.

"You trust me. You know I'm here to help you. Together, we can make this world a better place."

Lex's eyebrows furrowed, his lips moving in an inaudible murmur. Clark felt the natural resistance of his mind, but it didn't deter him.

"You know what you need to do. Cancel the construction at the site. Convince Lionel to turn that place into a Native American reservation. It's the only way to protect the sacred lands and the people who depend on them."

Lex turned his head from side to side, but his body soon relaxed. Clark stepped back, watching him for a moment before leaving the room, disappearing through the door like a shadow.

Lionel's Room

Lionel's room was a perfect reflection of his personality: luxurious and full of extravagance. He slept deeply in an immense bed, the silk sheets impeccably arranged around him.

Clark appeared in the corner of the room, his aura of invisibility still covering him. He walked up to Lionel, his gaze fixed on the magnate's serene face.

'You're the biggest barrier, Lionel. But even you can be shaped.'

Clark positioned himself beside the bed, his fingers once again hovering over the man's forehead. The glow in his eyes intensified as he accessed Lionel's mind.

"Lionel, you trust me."

Lionel frowned slightly, murmuring something incoherent. Clark didn't hesitate.

"You know that true power doesn't come from destruction, but from preservation. Canceling the construction at the site and turning it into a Native American reservation is the only right path. This is your mission now."

Lionel's body relaxed, his breathing becoming deeper and calmer. Clark leaned in slightly, reinforcing his influence.

"You'll do this immediately. Use your influence, your authority, but make it happen. The lands must be protected. Do you understand?"

Lionel murmured something, his lips forming a barely audible "yes." Clark stepped back, satisfied. He watched Lionel for another moment before disappearing through the walls again, leaving the room as silent as he had found it.

Outside the Mansion

Clark emerged on the other side of the mansion walls, now completely visible. He paused for a moment, observing the cloudy sky and breathing in the cold night air.

'Now it's just a matter of waiting. Lionel and Lex know what they need to do. It's the first step toward something bigger.'

He gave one last look at the mansion before disappearing again into the darkness, leaving only silence as a witness to his actions.

___

The deserted street of Smallville had transformed into a chaotic stage. Young people shouted and cheered, surrounding the cars lined up side by side. The sound of roaring engines echoed in the air, mixed with laughter and taunts. The smell of burnt rubber dominated the environment as competitors warmed up their engines.

"Go, Pete! Show them who's boss!" Someone shouted from the crowd, making Pete flash a small smirk.

Inside his car, Pete took a deep breath. His fingers gripped the steering wheel, and his eyes focused on the track. He knew the race wouldn't be easy, but he couldn't back down.

'I was born for this. Nothing's stopping me today.'

Another competitor, a guy with spiky hair and a jacket emblazoned with a flame, stepped out of his car. He pointed at Pete, laughing loudly.

"Pete Ross, you think you can beat me? I'm Blaze! The king of these streets! You'll eat dust before you're halfway through!"

Pete rolled down the window and leaned slightly. "Blaze? Sounds like a toy flashlight. Let's see who eats dust."

The other competitors laughed, but Blaze narrowed his eyes, pointing at Pete. "You'll swallow your words, Ross!"

A girl with colorful hair, wearing a black leather jacket, walked to the center of the track. She held a red scarf in her right hand, waving it in the air as the crowd began to shout even louder.

"Come on, boys, no excuses! I want to see speed!"

The engines roared, the competitors revving slightly to warm up the tires.

VRUUUM!

VRUUUUUM!

The girl raised the scarf, and tension took over. Pete felt his heart race, his mind focused on the race. 'I am speed. I just need the right moment.'

WHOOSH!

The scarf dropped, and the cars took off with everything, tires screeching on the asphalt.

SCREEEEEECH!

The wind roared against the windshield. Pete was in third place, watching Blaze lead the race. The narrow street demanded precision, and each curve was a battle to gain an advantage.

"Go, Blaze! Show him how it's done!" someone shouted from afar.

The headlights cut through the darkness, illuminating the winding curves. Pete maintained focus, waiting for the right moment. To his right, one of the competitors tried to block his path.

'No chance of stopping me.'

With an agile move, Pete swerved, leaving the competitor behind.

VRUUUM!

Now he was side by side with Blaze. The competitor looked at him through the rearview mirror and let out a confident laugh.

"Is that the best you can do, Ross? Is that nitro just for show?"

Pete pressed the button on the dashboard.

CLICK! FSSSHH!

The nitro activated, and Pete's car leaped forward. Blaze's eyes widened as Pete's vehicle surged like lightning.

"It can't be! How—?"

Pete pressed the accelerator to the maximum, leaving Blaze behind. The wind whistled around him as the finish line approached rapidly.

'I am speed. This is my victory!'

SCREEEEECH!

Pete crossed the finish line in first place, the crowd erupting in cheers and applause.

"Pete! You did it!" shouted someone from the crowd.

He got out of the car, removing his sunglasses as he looked at Blaze, who parked right behind, clearly defeated.

Blaze kicked his car door, frustrated. "How did you do that? It doesn't make sense!"

Pete shrugged, a calm smile on his face. "Maybe you should change your name to 'Ember.' Because today, you got extinguished."

The crowd laughed, and Pete was surrounded by friends and admirers, celebrating his victory. He looked up at the sky for a moment, savoring the sweet taste of triumph.

Pete shook some hands, feeling the pats on his back as his friends shouted and celebrated. Jason Dante, wearing a black leather jacket and a sharp smile, approached Pete, draping an arm over his shoulders.

"That's my The Boss! You killed it on that track, man."

Pete laughed, still breathless from the adrenaline, a wide grin on his face.

"Thanks, Dante. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have even gotten into this. These races are amazing."

Dante nodded, the smile lingering as his eyes scanned the crowd around them. 'I'm the one who should thank you, fool. With you winning, my bets keep increasing. I'm making more than ever.'

He gave Pete a light punch on the shoulder, maintaining a friendly tone.

"You deserve it, brother. Like I said: these streets are for the brave. And you've shown you have more than that. You have skill."

Pete adjusted his glasses in his pocket, leaning toward Dante.

"That's true. But without your tips, I'd probably still be eating dust. Thanks a lot, man."

Dante opened his arms, as if graciously accepting the compliments, but his mind was already plotting the next big move.

"Well, The Boss, enjoy the night. But remember: this victory is just the beginning."

Pete laughed, nodding.

"You can bet on that, Dante. I'm going to achieve much more."

Two women emerged from the crowd, their heels clicking against the asphalt as they approached Pete with confident smiles. One was tall, with wavy blonde hair, and the other had short brown hair and bright eyes.

"Pete, you were amazing!" said the blonde, holding his arm.

"Yes, you were. I've never seen anyone drive like that," added the brunette, sliding her hand over Pete's shoulder.

Pete flashed a satisfied smile, wrapping his arms around both of them.

"Calm down, ladies. There's enough of The Boss for all of you."

The two laughed, clearly charmed by his attitude. Dante, still watching from afar, smirked. 'These women are just part of the game, Pete. But you don't even realize how deep you're in.'

Pete completely ignored the looks and thoughts around him. He walked toward a nearby parked car, the two women clinging to him, one on each side.

"So, who's going to drive back? Or will I need to teach you both to be as good as me?"

The blonde laughed, pulling the key from her pocket.

"I'll drive. You deserve to rest after that victory, The Boss."

Pete got into the car with them, waving to the crowd before closing the door.

The car sped off, disappearing into the darkness of the road. Dante stood still, watching the scene with a slight ironic smile.

'He has no idea what he's getting into. But as long as he keeps winning, I don't care.'

Dante turned and walked toward his own motorcycle, ready to plan the next races and bets. The night in Smallville was his to explore.
