REINCARNATION OF EVIL

Chapter 4: Chapter 4 - A Silent Bond

The sun slowly rose over the eastern hills. Birds chirped atop the wooden roof of the farmhouse, blending into the calm morning. Yet inside the house, the air was unusually tense.

Zayn was just two years old. Holding a wooden toy horse in his small hands, he stood by the window, gazing outside. His blue eyes seemed lost in the sky. As always, he was silent—like someone trying to decode a world too big for him. Emotions too complex for a child his age occasionally flickered across his face, vanishing like fleeting shadows.

His mother Elira's voice echoed from the other room. It was strained, pained, and impatient. Zayn didn't fully understand what was happening, but he sensed something different. Everyone in the house—especially his older siblings Daeron and Selia—moved with anxious energy.

Zayn watched them closely. Daeron, aged ten, tried to act like a grown man in their father's absence. Selia, at eight, was emotional yet strong. Both kept an eye on their little brother while quietly praying for their mother.

Suddenly, the cry of a newborn pierced the air.

Zayn's eyes widened. It was a sound he had never heard before. The tension in the house instantly faded. The maids let out soft sighs. Selia wiped her tears with a smile. Daeron cast a quiet glance toward their mother's room.

But Zayn's reaction surprised everyone.

He tilted his head... then smiled faintly. His eyes lit up. He was smiling.

Everyone froze where they stood. Even Elira's helper turned around in disbelief.

"Did... did Zayn just smile?" Selia asked in shock.

"For the first time..." Daeron whispered. "Zayn just smiled for the first time."

As the newborn continued to cry, Zayn gently placed his toy horse on the floor. Slowly, he walked toward the door of his mother's room. The door was slightly ajar, and a soft voice came from within.

"Farewell to my fears... Welcome, my little miracle," Elira whispered.

Zayn saw a tiny, red-haired baby in his mother's arms. The infant, sensing his presence, turned toward him. For a moment, her blue eyes sparkled.

Something stirred deep within Zayn.

A warmth filled his chest. He couldn't understand what it meant, but a powerful connection seemed to form with the tiny being before him. For a two-year-old, such emotions had no clear explanation. But somewhere inside, he felt it: protection, affection... and an unexplainable familiarity.

The baby suddenly stopped crying. Elira noticed her baby's eyes fixated on Zayn. Smiling gently, she said:

"Zayn... this is your little sister. Her name is... Lyra."

Upon hearing the name, Zayn smiled again.

No one understood why. But he did. Though not consciously, deep within, he knew that this baby would hold an irreplaceable place in his life.

The terrifying battle dreams that haunted him every night—swords clashing, flames rising, muffled screams—were gone tonight.

Tonight, there was only silence.

And in that silence… Lyra's blue eyes.
