Retired Knight: Miss Loli's Personal Butler

Chapter 32: 32 I won't run away suddenly.

Late at night, with the bright moon hanging high, it bestowed a few glimmers of light upon the dark Atel City.

Lane carried the already fast asleep Nanali back to the mansion.

"Mr. Lane..."

"Shh - "

Daisy came forward. Lane immediately raised a finger to his lips, indicating for Daisy to be quiet.

Daisy hurriedly covered her small mouth, turned her gaze, and looked at Nanali in Lane's arms.

At this moment, Nanali was held by Lane with one arm, her upper body closely adhered to Lane's chest, her eyes gently closed, sleeping soundly.

Today, Nanali was too absorbed in practicing swordsmanship. Lane, who was in charge of teaching, didn't realize it was getting dark until later and wanted Nanali to go back and rest.

But Nanali insisted on practicing for a while longer. Lane then let Nanali rest for a moment.

During this short rest time, Nanali unconsciously fell asleep.

It seemed that Nanali was very tired today...

Looking at the sleeping Nanali, Daisy's eyes sparkled with stars. Apparently, even for her, it was rare to see Nanali asleep.

"Leave it to me."

Darrie came over and softly said, while slowly taking Nanali from Lane's arms.

"Good night, Mr. Lane."

After whispering good night to Lane, Darrie carried Nanali back to her room.

Watching Darrie leave, Lane turned to Daisy:

"It's getting late. Go back and rest."

"Yeah! Good night, Mr. Lane!"

Although it was late at night, Daisy still looked very energetic, without the slightest sign of fatigue.

"Good night, Daisy."

Lane replied good night to Daisy and then walked back to his own room.

Taking off the butler uniform, Lane placed the unsheathed sword beside his bed, confirming that it was within reach when he stretched out his hand, and then lay down on the bed.

It's a bit... hard to fall asleep...

After tossing and turning for a while, not knowing if it was because of a slight stress reaction to such an overly quiet living environment, Lane found that he couldn't fall asleep. After staring at the ceiling with his eyes open for a moment, Lane turned over and got out of bed, found a kerosene lamp, lit it, and placed it on the table.

Then, Lane took out paper and pen and began to write vigorously by the night.

The next morning, Lane woke up refreshed and stretched himself.

Sure enough, if you are very energetic and can't sleep at night, just write something. Then you'll soon feel sleepy.

"Good morning, Mr. Lane."

"Good morning, Mr. Lane!"

"Good morning, Darrie and Daisy."

After greeting Darrie and Daisy who were cleaning, Lane went to wash up.

Originally, it was decided that breakfast today would be cooked by Darrie. But after what happened at noon yesterday, Darrie still decided to let Lane cook breakfast and she would continue to hone her skills.

She strived to make the first breakfast for Nanali satisfactory.

Perhaps because she was too tired yesterday, it wasn't until Lane finished washing up and started cooking breakfast that Nanali walked out of her room yawning.

"Nanali, good morning. Hurry and wash up. When I finish serving the dishes, I'll blow-dry your hair."

Seeing Nanali, Lane smiled and said.

"Um~"

After responding confused, Nanali walked into the washroom to wash up.

When Nanali walked out of the washroom with her wet hair, Lane just finished serving the dishes on the dining table.

After Nanali sat down on the small chair, Lane dried his hands, came behind Nanali, and began to blow-dry her hair.

While blowing her hair, Nanali's body suddenly leaned backward and fell right into Lane's arms, startling Lane:

"Nanali, what's wrong?"

"Um... So sleepy..."

Nanali rubbed her eyes and mumbled.

Actually, Nanali had fallen asleep just now. Because she was already very sleepy, and the feeling of Lane blowing her hair... made her feel very comfortable.

"Hold on for a while. Sleep after breakfast. I'll ride the horse more steadily."

Rubbing Nanali's head, Lane smiled and said: "Alright, it's dry. Get up and have breakfast."

Although Lane touched her head again, Nanali didn't have the energy to slap Lane's hand away and could only let Lane do as he pleased.

After breakfast, Lane took Nanali on the horse and headed to Orcutt Academy.

Along the way, Nanali curled up in Lane's arms and slept soundly. Lane deliberately slowed down to ride the horse more steadily.

Anyway, there was still plenty of time. There was no rush.

When they rode to Orcutt Academy and until Lane settled the horse in the stable, Lane didn't see the knight of the Odice family.

Could he really have been expelled?

Lane felt a little pity. Wouldn't there be one less source of entertainment in the future? After Lane settled the horse, Nanali naturally woke up. Although she was still a little sleepy, her mental state was much better.

"During the magic class later, if you really can't hold on, just take a nap. Focus your energy on the swordsmanship class in the afternoon. Rowling can't teach you much."

On the way, Lane also said to Nanali.

Nanali was speechless. Wasn't this too bullying of Instructor Rowling?

Instructor Rowling was, after all, a well-known magic instructor in Atel City. How could she seem like a nobody in your mouth?

When they came to Nanali's classroom, from a distance, Lane saw the little Demon girl Dorothy instructing Octaville about something. Octaville kept nodding.

Suddenly, Dorothy noticed something, turned her head, and waved at Lane with a smile:

"Good morning, Instructor Lane!"

Nanali subconsciously grabbed Lane's pants.

Lane gave a wry smile and nodded at Dorothy: "Good morning, classmate Dorothy."

"Isn't Instructor Lane coming to class today? I like Instructor Lane very much ~"

Saying that, Dorothy even threw a flirtatious look at Lane.

But the flirtatious look of a little girl really had no lethality.

The small hand of Nanali grasping Lane's pants tightened even more, and her gaze towards Dorothy also carried a hint of hostility.

Lane looked as usual: "I was only in charge of yesterday's class. Starting today, Rowling will teach you the magic class again. It's almost time. Hurry and enter the classroom."

"Eh ~ What a pity." The Demon tail behind Dorothy swished twice. After pouting, her face regained a charming smile:

"Then I'll enter the classroom! See you at noon, Instructor Lane!"

With that, Dorothy entered the classroom.

Lane lowered his head: "Nanali, you should enter the classroom too."

Nanali didn't answer but just silently looked up at Lane.

Lane chuckled: "Rest assured. I won't suddenly run away."

"It's none of my business if you suddenly run away."

Nanali turned her head. Although she said so, she did feel a little relieved in her heart:

"I'm going to class."

Under Lane's gaze, Nanali walked into the classroom.
