Return as a God-level Assassin

Chapter 2: Authority

"Judgment Eye, Judgment Authority, what are they good for?"

Riven Kael felt a surge of confusion.

He closed his eyes.

In the utter darkness, it was as though a pair of eyes, ancient and unyielding, were staring back at him!

Before him, a line of text materialized.

It appeared in a form he could understand—written in the language of Solara, the characters floating before his eyes.

[Judgment Eye (Activated)]

[Unique Attribute: Judgment Authority!]

[Judgment Authority: The most real and ancient primordial power in the universe. Its authority surpasses all rules and order (You do not yet possess 'Divinity', so the power cannot be activated, but passive effects are in play).]

[Passive Effect of Authority: Upon entering the Eclipse of Eternity game, you will automatically receive the highest-tier talent.]

"Primordial power..."

"Surpasses rules and order?"

Riven's mind was shaken.

Rules and order were the pinnacle of power that players could acquire in Eclipse of Eternity.

In his previous life, seven years after the game arrived, a powerful individual had escaped the 'Land of the Abandoned Gods' and reached the 'Land of Order,' where they had barely glimpsed the possibility of mastering the power of 'Order.'

Yet, despite the passage of nine years, no one on Solara had yet acquired the power of Order.

But now, he had obtained the primordial power, one that transcended both Order and Rules!

"Although I currently lack Divinity and cannot activate the power," Riven thought, "the passive effect of this authority is clear—it grants me the highest-tier talent as soon as I enter the game..."

"This makes me invincible!"

Riven's heartbeat quickened.

In his previous life, his talent had been Emerald-tier.

Emerald-tier was the seventh level.

In Eclipse of Eternity, talents, equipment, skills... all kinds of abilities had a total of thirteen ranks:

"Low, Normal, Bronze, Silver."

"Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond."

"Epic, Legendary, Mythic, Ancient, Immortal."

"Does this mean that this time, I'll have Immortal-tier talent?"

Emerald-tier had already placed Riven among the top one hundred players globally.

But what would Immortal-tier be like?

The idea was almost beyond his comprehension.

Riven pulled out his phone from beneath his pillow.

"The time is... 8:00 AM."

"Eclipse of Eternity has quietly arrived."

"In my previous life, I was scolded by my boss for being late."

"It wasn't until noon that I even realized the game had arrived, and I went to school to apologize to Lyra... We spent hours talking, and by the time we entered the game, it was already evening."

"I wasted a whole day of development time!"

Now that he had been reborn, Riven wasn't going to waste a second.

He wouldn't do anything unnecessary.

"From 8:00 AM today, as long as any adult falls asleep, their consciousness will enter the 'Land of the Abandoned Gods' and join the Eclipse of Eternity game!"

"Meanwhile, our bodies will become ethereal..."

"The ethereal body can be seen with the naked eye but cannot be touched—it's as if it doesn't exist in this world."

"In other words, while our consciousness is in the game, our physical body in reality becomes 'untouchable'—an invincible state, existing in a different dimension!"

It was this incredible phenomenon that caused the game to spread rapidly.

In just half a day, news of it had reached all corners of Solara...

"I never expected that the moment I was reborn would be the exact moment Eclipse of Eternity arrived."

"Fortunately, I suffer from insomnia, so I always keep some prescription sleep medication handy."

Riven immediately decided to enter the game.

On one hand, he was eager to experience his highest-tier talent.

On the other hand, he needed to enter the game as soon as possible to gain an advantage.

Entering the game for the first time required being in a sleep state, a rule set in stone.

Without wasting any time, Riven took the prescription medication and lay down on his bed, preparing to sleep.

Meanwhile, at Riverside University...

As autumn set in, the leaves were falling across the campus, and groups of students were heading to their classrooms for lessons.

A girl in a white dress, her long hair flowing, was walking with her best friend towards their classroom.

Her short-haired friend asked curiously, "So, Lyra, you really aren't going to call your brother and apologize? We skipped the exam yesterday and secretly went to Elias Stone's concert. He's probably really mad..."

Lyra smiled and replied, "Apologize? He's not even my real brother. Why can't I go to Elias Stone's concert? He's way too strict. I'm not a kid anymore, I can do whatever I want."

Her friend sighed, "But he treats you so well. Besides being strict, he buys you whatever you want... I actually envy you for having a brother like that."

Lyra shrugged nonchalantly, "I already have most of my parents' inheritance. Even without him, I can still live a great life. Who needs him?"

They quickly entered the classroom, ready for the day ahead.

Little did Lyra know, her brother, Riven Kael, was no longer the person she could summon with a call...

And even less did she know, disaster had quietly begun to spread across the world!

When a person falls asleep, their body enters an ethereal state, looking incredibly surreal.

However, no one really knows what's happening to the sleepers just yet...

It will take another two or three hours for the news of the Eclipse of Eternity game to fully spread.

And at this moment—

Riven Kael had already drifted into slumber.

As he fell asleep, his consciousness traversed an unknown distance and arrived at a darkened space.

"Just as I thought, it's this familiar scene..."

Around Riven, everything was engulfed in darkness, with no light source in sight.

Suddenly, wisps of grayish-white light began to gather in front of him, forming the characters of Solara's written language.

[Welcome to the 'Eclipse of Eternity' game!]

[You will be heading to: The Land of the Abandoned Gods...]

[Please choose your profession!]

[Upon selecting your profession, you will randomly receive a talent that matches it. Good luck!]

As the gray-white text dispersed before Riven, it quickly formed into a spinning wheel.

The wheel displayed many professions: Warrior, Mage, Priest, Archer, Assassin... and more!

If he chose freely, he could only pick from these basic professions.

But there was also an option for "Random Profession"!

Choosing this could give him a small chance of receiving a hidden profession.

"In my previous life, I chose the Warrior profession to protect Lyra," Riven thought.

"The Warrior is strong, but its mobility is too low. Solo farming isn't ideal for me now..."

While Warriors had excellent survivability, their monster-clearing abilities were a bit lacking.

It wasn't a good fit for Riven at the moment.

"Anyway, with my highest-tier talent, any profession will be strong."

"Why not try the random option?"

"Maybe I'll get a hidden profession?"

Without hesitation, Riven selected—Random Profession!
