rhode's darling

Chapter 9: COLD

Unknowingly, Darla had provoked an extremely black-bellied wolf, initially he had planned to thank her properly and be on his way after his injuries healed but gradually and gradually she'd enticed him so much. Even without so much effort she already had him wrapped around her finger, she had him whipped to the extent he didn't know.

But that was fine, since she had invited in this wolf she should be ready to take full responsibility to the end.

After Darla's fierce outburst, she felt a little guilty. Why? She knew that Wolf was an individual and he must have led a life on his own before she found him, and he might had even planned to leave, but she couldn't bear it. The thought of parting even though they'd only known each other for so long was heart wrenching to her, she wanted him to stay, and stay he would. She wondered what he planned to do now that she'd staked her claim on him.

"Darla, let's go out for a walk." Wolf's voice pulled her out of her reverie. She observed him for a minute and saw that he was fine then agreed to go out with him.

Just as they were about to walk out of the yard, he suddenly urged her to wait.

"Hold on for a bit", then he rushed of to the garden and picked up a rose that had been uprooted earlier, then rushed back to her and tucked it into her hair. Then he smiled, a beautiful smile that knocked the breath out of her lungs.

She knew he was good looking, but never had she seen him look so dazzling. Hands down really, he was handsome!

"Milady, shall we?" He bowed in a fanciful manner. She couldn't help the laughter that rang out of her, why hadn't she known he was so dramatic.

She followed him out and they began strolling.

About an hour later they returned from their walk, Darla had expected Wolf to say something or ask her questions but he only kept silent throughout the whole walk, even when they'd met other people that had been going on walks like them he only let her take the reins in leadithe conversation, it was almost like her presence was the only one he could tolerate.

That was fine too, at least no one else would talk him out of staying with her.

"What do you want to do now?" She asked, it was getting quite late, she'd prepared dinner before they left but Wolf didn't seem hungry, though the walk could have changed that.

"Want to eat now?" She inquired further, he had been staring at her in a peculiar manner since the morning, almost like he wanted to figure her out.

He cleared his throat, drawing her eyes to the movement of his Adam's apple. Wow! She had to admit, he was getting more and more charming as the days go by.

"Yes, I would love to eat now." He uttered as he stared at her meaningfully. He looked like he wanted to swallow her whole, his stare caused her to shiver.

"Cold, darling? Better get you in now", she could only watch on in a daze as he led her inside, she didn't even have the chance to clarify, but what was she to say? That she suspected he wanted to eat her up? He would probably find that outrageous.

She wanted to see how far she could make him go for her, take advantage of this 'cold' and have him take care of her.

"Yes, Wolf. I'm indeed a bit cold, might have caught the wind on that walk." She then pretended to cough. That definitely did the trick because he rushed to attend to her like a mother hen.

"What can I get you, we can't have this developing into something more, how do I make you feel better?" He asked, worried.

"Well, I made chicken soup earlier, you can warm it up for me, something hot would dispel the cold and a bit of rest also." She rejoined.

With the speed of light, he rushed into the kitchen even though she didn't think he could handle things in the kitchen, only minutes later he came back out with a steaming bowl of chicken soup.

"Here you go, baby. I'll have you hold on to it but I'm afraid it might scald you, but I'll get you a blanket now and also a side stool to place it close to you." he spoke.

Meticulously, he fed her the whole of the chicken soup. He took extra care to make sure that she wasn't scalded or anything. He was quite thorough. But she was not quite done yet.

"Want to sleep now, darling?" He asked. "You need to rest to dispel the cold, the effects of that soup would only be gotten after you rest." He continued.

"No, I want to watch the moon instead. I'm not quite sleepy", she rebutted. She wanted to see if he was going to give in to her.

"Baby, if you go out now you'd have to take actual medicine rather than just that soup, be good, go to bed." He returned.

"But Wolf, the night sky is so beautiful, and I want to watch the stars, besides aren't I covered now?" She pleaded in an almost coquettish manner, blinking her big eyes at him.

Of course, he gave in. Even though he had suspected she was playing with him, she wanted to see how far she could go.

Funny, sweet Darla.

Then he carried her out on to the chair placed outside, cushioning her back and sides with pillows and watched her as she proceeded to gaze at the moon. He was going to give her fifteen minutes, and whether she liked it or not he was going to whisk her in. Though he would try to see if she had any other tricks up her sleeve, he chuckled silently.

She looked ethereal in the moonlight, her face glowed and so did her eyes, how lovely, he thought. He wanted a bite.

"I wanna go back in", she spoke out in a sticky voice, casting him a side glance that had his throat running dry. Water, he thought.

"Darling, listen well, I'm going to carry you in now. I would place you on your bed and tuck you in, and like a good girl you'll close your eyes and let the sleep take you over, and the next conversation we'll have would be in the morning on the morrow. Otherwise, baby, I'd have to punish you, not that I wouldn't enjoy it, but you wouldn't too much. So, darling, do you understand?" He didn't even wait for her answer as he just whisked her right up.

She didn't even have the time to think about any other thing until he closed the door to her room, leaving her alone with her thoughts.

She smiled to herself, seems he tolerated her a lot, pampered even.

She couldn't hold on any longer and finally fell to sleep, leaving a certain Wolf restless.

Sigh…

Darla, sweet Darla.
