Chapter 328: Severus Appears
Chapter 328: Severus Appears
While burning corpses, he left out those of the demons.
When all the corpses were burnt, Zydrax changed the magic circles attribute, turning it crimson red.
This time, the rivers of blood spilled across Quartez rose into the air.
Stretching out his palm, the blood flew towards him, stopping three feet above his palm.
It coalesced, taking the shape of an orb as more and more blood gathered.
Ten minutes later, all the blood had coalesced into an orb big enough to hold four of him and still leave space.
Its shadow completely covered Ezra’s figure.
Note, this was after being compressed.
It would’ve at least thrice as much if Zydrax did this one the day Alvarach carried out the massacre, much of the blood had dried out.
Not that he was complaining.
He passed control of the blood orb to his left hand and erased the magic circle stretched all over Quartez as the dome made for peak masters broke off.
This relieved him of unnecessary pressure.
Back to business, he conjured three magic circles layered atop one another with his right hand.
He used his left hand to raise the blood orb higher before placing the right hand above the left hand, putting the three magic circles underneath the blood orb.
Then, he returned control of the orb to his right hand, controlling both the magic circles and the blood orb before pulling his left hand away.
With his left hand, he began sifting the blood.
A line of blood poured down from the blood-like the steady gushing of tap water-through the magic circles where it cleared of impurities like sand, and thinned out to leave only the part with concentrated essence.
His left hand controlled it on the receiving end, holding it in place throughout the sifting process.
In five minutes, the last of the large blood orb was sifted, and with their work done, the magic circles faded.
What remained was a blood orb about a tenth the size of the first, but with concentrated essence.
As for what he would do with such it, Zydrax had no idea.
He simply thought it wise to clear out the spilled blood.
As such, he beckoned the blood orb towards him and deep froze it, before tossing it into his space ring.
The people in the air took it as a cue to go back to the ground.
At the same, he began thinking of what to do with the demon’s bodies.
Something started nudging him mentally, causing him to frown.
Holding his head, the voice becomes clear.
’Master, let me out!’
It sounded like that of a whining kid.
Annoyed, Zydrax willed this being out of the space ring.
Out it came. A python with white striped gleaming black skin.
After being stuck in the space ring for so long, Severus had grown.
He stretched two and half meters, with gleaming scales telling of the danger, his eyesight had sharpened beyond that of normal snakes.
Only at this time did Ezra, who was looking through Zydrax’s eyes, remember that he had indeed forgotten to take care of the snake.
Firstly, the snake was shocked.
’Master, why do you look like that?’
With his eyes and hair glowing, he indeed looked weird.
With a face defining ferocity, and a presence that had even Grandmasters tingling, it was only natural for them to feel threatened.
What would have known that after staying in a place with the purest and most concentrated mana, he would eventually break through to Grandmaster rank?
In any case, while Severus was now sufficiently powerful, there was a more pressing issue at hand.
Severus’ belly growled and his ferocious face suddenly turned into one of grievance.
’Master. I’m hungry!’
The snake cried out its woes through their mental connection.
’Master. You left me in the ring and didn’t feed me! I’ve almost starved to death’
Zydrax, who was watching the snake parade in silence, suddenly had an idea.
With a magic circle in front of his mouth once more, he spoke to people watching the spectacle.
"Help me gather the corpses of all the demons"
Having just introduced Grandmaster pet, they immediately got to it, flying in every direction to complete the task.
No one felt like trying their luck at becoming snake food.
To be clear, all those that remained were the remaining Black Jaws peak masters alongside the siblings, Frederick, Cabrera and Jebas.
Zydrax could do it himself, but he couldn’t afford to strain Ezra’s body unnecessarily.
The dark energy, which Zydrax dubbed negative mana, could not keep the heart completely stable.
Alvarach’s claws had torn through it like a sack of flour, damaging the elemental core stationed within and tainting it with negative mana.
Thus making it unstable.
It was for this reason that Zydrax didn’t use two or more elements at once, just using one required masterful control with how volatile his mana heart was at the moment.
He’d need to examine it better to figure a way forward, and what he could perceive, it was no small problem.
It could take anywhere from months to years to solve.
All he was doing was in preparation for his reclusive recuperation.
By now the corpses had gathered into a single large pile.
Zydrax gestured Severus towards it.
"Eat"
’Master. Aren’t those demons? If I eat that I will lose my sanity!’
Zydrax shook his head. "No, you won’t. It’s safe to eat"
Glancing between the corpses and Zydrax, Severus hesitantly slithered towards the corpses.
Reaching it, Severus dug in, pushing them aside to find the small, those he could easily swallow.
Finally he found one.
Opening his mouth to reveal two gleaming fangs and a row of small teeth behind it, he bit into the corpses, mouth widening as he held it up and swallowed it in one go.
Much to the trepidation of the onlookers.
Severus groaned, feeling his hunger die down after a long time.
To survive in the space ring, he had sacrificed his own muscles to stay alive.
At his rank, his biology had advanced and the demon’s body was quickly dissolved as Severus awaited any effects.
Nothing happened.
Zydrax nodded, confirming a suspicion of his.
Rather than an inherent trait of demons, the corruption came from the negative mana embedded in their souls.
With nothing happening, Severus didn’t hesitate to take seconds.
This snake was really hungry.
"Hm?"
Just then, Frederick brought Alvarach’s headless corpse.
Zydrax threw it into the space ring, to be studied further.
With that done, he begins the last few things.
Firstly, he taps his feet onto the ground in sync with hands and creates a small formation outlined in blue with his legs at the center.
Tapping his feet, a like stretches from this formation and after reaching a sufficient distance, it becomes another formation.
This formation was many times bigger than the last, taking an outlook of circles within circles, with small lines connecting the circles to one another.
Small circles were then placed along the lines making up the big circles.
It was a total of ten circles, reaching the width of the circle of descent from earlier.
Taking a breath, Zydrax tap releases a small wave of mana into it, imprinting both formations onto the soil.
Then, he takes off the ground, floating a long distance away before landing.
He creates another formation, this one larger than the last, twice its size in fact, but not connected to it.
A magic circle formed in front of his mouth, as he beckoned the Grandmasters and the siblings.
Zydrax had an understanding of their relationship with Ezra.
Adjusting his tone, he spoke.
"You all have accompanied me from when I was far weaker, and I thank you for that"
"But the danger is not nearly over. I have foreseen a great calamity soon to occur"
They glanced at one another.
"For this reason, you all need to take your strengths to newer heights and become even stronger"
Walking to the center of the formation, a stream of mana extended from the barrier above towards him.
Six feet from touching him, it expands into a barrier of its own that covers the entire area within the formation.
Then, mana filled it up.
For finishing touches, Zydrax imprints a number of magic circles within.
Five minutes later, he beckons them.
Stepping in one by one, they gasped as their eyes widened in surprise.
The atmosphere was practically stuffed with mana.
So much so, that the siblings groaned in ecstasy.
They didn’t know, but since they stopped bombarding the demons, Ezra had stopped the barrier from releasing mana into Quartez.
Instead of spreading it out over large swathes of empty land, he was now channelling a portion into a small space cordoned off for cultivation.
For this one, Zydrax designated half of all the mana sent into it.
This would greatly increase their cultivation speed.
When done with their initial reactions, they calmed down, awaiting Ezra’s next words.
"The battle today took a large toll on me, and I will be going into seclusion to recuperate"
"I don’t know when I will come out. It could take months, or even years to recover my strength"
"As such, I’m leaving you all here to cultivate. Grow in strength to face the approaching calamity"
The atmosphere was solemn.
"Heh. You better not slack off either, or by the time you finish your seclusion, I would’ve surpassed you!"
Johan’s provocation eased the tension.
"You can try," Zydrax replied. He had to act the part.
"Hehe"
Johan quickly found a good spot, seated cross legged and began cultivating.
The others followed suit.
Once done, Zydrax beckoned Frederick and explained the process of ascending to Mythic rank to him and he would explain it to the rest.
He subsequently informed them that he’d configured the barrier to allow their entry and exit at any time.
After all, some would want to do things other than cultivate.
He did a repeat of the same events with the remaining Black Jaws guild members, but he didn’t tell them anything about him recuperating because they had no relationship prior to this.
The mana pulled into their formation was only twenty percent of the total.
Less, but still a large amount.
With that done, he returns to the circle of descent, widens it and pulls out a large orb of negative mana.
While the troops were slaughtering demons earlier, he had placed magic circles beforehand to collect their souls.
No, that’s not right.
It was the negative mana within their souls that was collected.
With negative mana being the source of the problem, it would do him good to get a better understanding of it.
He closes the portal of descent completely, having removed the barrier’s dependence on it.
It was the large amount of negative mana he harvested that made it worthwhile.
With it, he now had more confidence to fix Ezra’s body.
’No’ he suddenly thought. ’I could do far more than that’
Many ideas were swirling.
But before that, he had one last thing to do.
Mana stones fell out of his space ring, amounting to thirty one.
Unlike its radiant state, they were now hollow, looking like cheap Crystal’s with no essence.
Ezra had sucked them dry to advance to Mythic rank, very little was left of what they hauled from the mountains.
With a gesture, the mana stones floated, landing into the small circles drawn along the lines of the big circle.
Then he took out nine glowing mana stones.
These were the last few with essence, but it had also been reduced a lot, so he placed them closer to the center of the ring of circles.
’Hmm’
Zydrax realized there was no reason to connect the initial small circle to the larger one and so he cut off the connection.
Then, he called down another stream of mana, and had it direct ten percent of the absorbed mana into the formation.
It lit up, glowing as mana moved to every circle and began to refill the mana stones.
The only thing left now was to create his own abode.
