Chapter 354: Love and Parting (2)
Third Person's POV
And seeing that her anger of being exposed in that forest slowly receded.
In its place bloomed a warmth she couldn't quite name.
She crossed her arms around his neck and pulled him closer, as her fingers brushed against the hard ridges of his muscles and felt the strength that had grown beneath her care.
He was her disciple and her pride and the one she had trained, protected, and nurtured from the time he was so small till now, though currently he had become something more, something beyond her understanding, yet still deeply hers.
A rush of familiar possessiveness rose within her, but she could feel that it was a bit different this time.
He had always belonged to her, but now she felt something else stirring beneath the surface.
An unfamiliar heat crept under her skin and tightened her breath as a desire so foreign and frightening rose within her and left her momentarily frozen.
Her pupils widened, and her sharp and scary vertical slits softened as her pheromones pulsed outward uncontrollably.
As her body trembled faintly, her breathing became faster and shallower, and all this while, she didn't even realize it was happening.
But Ethan noticed the abnormality in her, and as he studied her flushed cheeks, the golden hue of her eyes now seemed to be melting like sunlight through amber.
Her lips were parted as her breath was catching at the base of her throat.
Her face, which was always poised and cold, now looked unbearably tempting and seductive without her even trying or knowing how to do so.
Seeing his usually dominant master in such a state, he couldn't hold back anymore.
With one arm, he wrapped his hand around her waist and held her tightly against him as their bodies molded into each other.
Her soft breasts squished against his torso, and as the heat of her body seeped into his skin, he lowered his head and kissed her.
His lips met hers gently at first as if he were testing hers, but the moment he tasted her hot and uncertain breath, something snapped.
He deepened the kiss and pulled her closer.
His right hand slid down, and before his thoughts could catch up to his instincts, his palm cupped her breast.
Instantly, the words 'soft', 'squishy', and 'warm' filled his mind.
Feeling his sudden and unexpected touch, Nyx gasped into his mouth.
It was a faint sound like a startled kitten, and as she made such a cute noise, her eyes went wide while glistening with disbelief.
Her knees buckled slightly, and her body slackened in his arms.
Her face was a shade of red he had never seen before; it was so deep, vivid, and honest that he couldn't describe it properly in words.

Sweat beaded on her temple, and her breath hitched as her strength melted into his.
And then… it happened.
A flash of pain burst through Ethan's shoulder.
He flinched and a sharp grunt escaped his throat, as Nyx's grip clamped down like iron on his shoulders.
Her claws dug into his skin with such pressure that a loud crack echoed in the still air.
His shoulder shattered under her grasp.
He winced as his entire right arm seemed to be screaming in agony, but as he looked in her eyes, he finally saw a flicker of panic dawn in her golden eyes as she seemed to have finally realised what she had done.
As she pulled back with a stunned expression, her lips were trembling, and her hand was frozen in midair as she realized that she had hurt him, not intentionally and not in anger, but in a moment of raw emotion she had never been fateful enough to feel.
The kiss had been unlike their earlier ones and had broken her mentally and shaken her control, and for someone like her, that was more terrifying than anything.
Ethan, who seemed to be ever obedient and calm in the strangest of moments, gave her a soft, pitiful look.
His eyes were wide, and his lips trembled slightly as if he had been cruelly wronged. It wasn't a performance, but it wasn't entirely serious either.
Still, her heart clenched, and she got a feeling as if she had hurt her own nonexistent child.
For a moment, she stood there in silence, torn between guilt and something dangerously close to… affection.
But after a few moments, she calmed down and without a word, she raised her palm and placed it gently over his injury.
A swirl of pitch black light pulsed from her hand and seeped into his shoulder.
The broken bone reformed instantly, and the rapid swelling in his shoulder retreated, as his pain vanished like a bad dream.
She still didn't say anything, but her fingers moved across his neck and finally reached his cheek.
As she gently brushed his lips with her thumb, she leaned in again in a slow and deliberate motion.
This time she took the lead, and there was no rush in her movements but only a quiet fire and warmth.
Ethan welcomed her touch without hesitation, and as their lips met softly, he felt it to be a tender and lingering exchange that felt less like a kiss and more like a promise.
Their movements were unhurried as they savored each other's heartbeat while their mouths moved in quiet rhythm and memorized the taste of each other's mouth and presence.
When they finally parted, a breathy silence remained between them.
In a natural way, Nyx moved and nestled her head into the crook of his neck as her body rested easily against his.
She breathed him in—his familiar and grounding scent threaded with a hint of steel, smoke, and something uniquely his.
It calmed the storm in her chest, like the tide that slowly retreated from the shore.
Wrapped in each other's warmth, their surroundings melted away.
The high wind blew gently past them and seemed to be whispering through the clouds, but neither noticed.
