Rise of the System Slayer

Chapter 15: Guild

He wants to level up instantly in a short time so that when he returns to the demon castle, he will be much stronger. While sitting in front of his computer, he wonders whether he should go for the evaluation to reassess his rank or not. Many thoughts cloud his mind. If he gets an S-rank, he will attract the attention of many citizens in the city.

However, if he doesn't and his true strength is discovered, the Hunter Association or the guild might assume that he is a false ranker— a false ranker is someone whose official rank does not align with their actual strength due to manipulation, system errors, or deception. False rankers may appear weaker or stronger than they truly are, and Ares wants to avoid that scenario. He just wants peace and to become as strong as he can, using his full potential.

Ares sighed, unable to think of another way to level up instantly. He continued searching on his computer browser for information about dungeons where he could find a teammate or partner. Since the dungeon required a hunting team of six or more members, it seemed like a hassle and trouble.

However, if he was lucky, he might find a partner who could help him clear the dungeon alone. He hoped to find someone who hired hunters to clear dungeons solo. Even if it was just a low-rank dungeon, it would be fine for him.

After that, he continued until he found the dungeon website and a required email input popped up.

[Log in using Gmail]

[Log in using Facebook]

[Log in using Phone Number]

A different login method also appeared.

Ares clicked on Gmail since his Facebook was deactivated, and using his phone number seemed troublesome as it required receiving a code to log in.

Ares logged into his Gmail account.

....

After typing on his keyboard for a few minutes, he successfully logged in. After that, he checked the various pages on the site. The first page displayed a row of random threads, and when he clicked on a category, different threads appeared. Ares tried clicking on the [Dungeon] Category.

[How to deal with the poison of the viper]

[The appearance of a mysterious Hunter]

[The location of the newest mana crystal, updated on February 12, 2050]

[Some spots that the beginner must avoid]

Ares only took a glance, and he immediately changed the category on the page, as a hunter was looking for a partner, all this information was useless, so he pressed the [Recruitment] Category.

"Here it is!" ares thought after he finds what he is looking for.

Then, his finger started swiping across the screen, scrolling through the page as his eyes scanned the glowing computer screen.

[Black Elite Guild Recruitment - Minimum Rank C]

[Ahjin Dragon Guild Recruitment - Minimum Rank C]

[Red Crimson Guild Recruitment - Minimum Rank C]

[Flava Blue Elite Guild Recruitment - Minimum Rank D]

Ares felt disappointed. His last hope was that, as an E-rank, he could at least join a party, but since the minimum requirement was D-rank, his chances were slim.

He skimmed through the next pages one by one. However, after opening more than 60 pages, none of the guilds had a minimum requirement of E-rank.

"How can I find a guild?!" Ares sighed, frustrated at his inability to find a party.

Actually, Ares also understood the reason for this. It was impossible for guilds to accept members with such low standards—it would only cause trouble. Since they were putting their lives on the line, war commanders would always seek strong soldiers. In fact, it would be suspicious if they allowed anyone with a low rank to enter the party.

In the end, Ares found nothing in that category and pondered for a moment.

"Looks like I'll have to change—" Before he could finish his sentence, he found a raid thread on the page, and his hopes rose again.

Ares closed the [Recruitment] page and selected [Raid]. After that, various threads filled his computer screen.

[Requires one hunter, tanker type - Minimum Rank C]

[Party of 5 people, less than one archer - Minimum Rank D]

"D-rank again?" Ares sighed and kept scrolling.

[Requires real support, not cowards hiding in the backline - Minimum Rank C]

Ares let out a sigh through his teeth while reading the requirements one by one. He kept scrolling continuously, changing the filters, but still couldn't find an E-rank recruitment—let alone one for his specific rank.

"Is E-rank really so bad that no one wants to invite them?"He realized his words sounded stupid—he was just annoyed that he couldn't find a team. However, he hadn't given up yet.

After scrolling through the page for a while, he noticed a newly posted thread.

[Scavenger Guild requires two hunters - Free Rank]

Ares squinted when he saw "Scavenger"—the name sounded familiar. Closing his eyes, he muttered "Scavenger" over and over, trying to remember."Ah, the Scavenger Guild. That's the one people have been talking about recently.

Even though they aren't as strong as the top five guilds, they're quite capable of handling B-rank dungeons.

But lately, there have been issues. Rumors say that their recruits keep dying—apparently, some higher-level monster inside the dungeon is taking them out."

Ares swallowed hard at the memory but still smirked."Well, whatever. I'm not one of them."Without hesitation, he applied since there was no further information available. He applied for one of the slots.

[Processed, Wait for the moderator's reply.]

His face soured for a moment—Ares thought he would be accepted right away. However, he didn't lose hope. He waited for a reply all day, but no message came. The thought of searching for another thread crossed his mind. Then, exactly at 8 PM, his screen lit up.

[You are accepted for the raid team. Gather tomorrow at 10 AM outside the dungeon in Brassgate District.]

Ares was finally accepted, and his lips widened in happiness.

He immediately turned off his computer. When he looked outside, the night felt heavy, with only the moon and a few flickering lanterns cutting through the darkness. A chilly breeze brushed against him before he stepped back inside.

Lily was already asleep when he returned, and guilt weighed on him—he hadn't been able to cook dinner for her. He sighed, deciding that instead, he would wake up early and cook before leaving tomorrow to make it up to her.
