Rise of the System Slayer

Chapter 9: Rise The Shadow of The Fallen

Ares gazed at his status screen. After defeating the King of Orcs, his stats had increased significantly, and he still had unassigned points. As he examined the screen, another skill suddenly appeared.

[You've acquired the Phantom skill.]

Description -> Allows the user to move at extreme speed, distorting the air around him and making it appear as if he has briefly teleported to his desired location. After activation, the movement leaves behind a fading afterimage, confusing enemies.

Another skill appeared: his summoning skill, now enhanced to bring a corpse into his shadow.

[You've acquired the Eclipse Manifest skill.]

Description -> With the Eclipse Manifest, Ares gained full control over the shadows, allowing him to summon them at any time and manipulate them, merging with them at will. His shadow summons could become more powerful by leveling up, though at a deep cost—using only mana to summon and control them, with 50 mana required for each one.

Skill(s): [VOID MANIPULATION] [PHANTOM] [ECLIPSE MANIFEST]

Now that he had three skills, Ares had become even stronger after the battle. Moreover, just as he was processing his newfound power, another notification popped up on his screen.

[You Have A Chance To Upgrade Class][Assassin -> Shadow Master][Do You Wish To Proceed?]

After receiving the summoning class that could turn a corpse into a shadow, the system recognized it and initiated the ability. It acknowledged Ares' great power and granted him the chance to upgrade to Shadow Master—a title reserved for those who command the very essence of shadow itself.

This upgrade would enhance his abilities and grant him dominion over the shadow realm.

He quickly accepted it—only a fool would decline such an opportunity. After receiving his new class, his body floated in the air.

The surroundings darkened, and black energy began circling him, spreading throughout his body.

As his body trembled with the influx of power, it absorbed the energy. After a few minutes, his body became lighter, and a powerful surge of magic coursed through him.

He had become the master of the shadows. His eyes darkened, and he felt a void of emotion, the weight of his new power settling within him.

[You Have Successfully Upgraded Your Class. It Now Changes To The Title.]

[Shadow Master]

He had successfully upgraded to the Shadow Master class. A powerful energy circulated through his body, making him feel invincible, like a god. He couldn't help but laugh, overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of his newfound power.

Afterward, Ares stood in front of Goruk, eager to test his new skill. Goruk's body lay there, and Ares saw this as his chance to summon a powerful army. With his Eclipse Manifest, he gazed at the body on the ground and murmured, "Wake up." His first try seemed to fail, and the system gave him two remaining attempts.

Frustrated, he shouted louder, "Wake up!" But still, it failed. Only one attempt remained. This was his last chance.

Ares tried to focus, thinking about what was needed to turn Goruk into his own. After a moment, he raised his hand with confidence and said, "Rise, the shadow of the fallen."

The corpse began to transform, turning into a shadow. Goruk kneeled before him, showing respect to his new master.

Since this was his first summon, Ares decided to give it a name. He crossed his arms, pondering what name would suit it. After a few minutes, he finally decided, "Your name now is Tusk," based on its appearance. Goruk was now Tusk. Afterward, Ares turned the red orcs into shadows as well.

Over a hundred of them became part of his army, ready to follow his commandAfterwardsrd, Ares returned to Darius's team. Their minds were blown, puzzling over what Ares had done to the corpse.

Since Ares had acquired a new class, Darius and his team now saw him as something entirely different. They looked at him with fear, trembling as they realized the monster he had become.

"Yo... you're strong!" Darius said, mumbling his words in disbelief.

As Ares walked toward them, Elena noticed that he had unleashed a powerful, terrifying magic within him. The closer he got, the stronger the sensation became, and Elena could feel the intensity of it more with each step.

They all felt it—Ares was now far stronger than before. The overwhelming presence of his power filled the air, making them uneasy.

"All of you, I wish spread outside," Ares said, gazing at them coldly. After that, he nodded, and the long battle finally came to an end.

Since Ares helped them complete the raid, they decided to keep it to themselves, thinking that Ares had his reasons for not wanting to expose his power. However, they knew this secrecy wouldn't last. Once his abilities were exposed to the public, word would spread quickly throughout the country.

After that day, Ares sighed, feeling a little relieved as he sat on his bed. "I want to become even stronger," he murmured, clenching his fist.

Since Ares had received the skills, he decided to give all the rewards to Darius's party. At first, they couldn't accept it, feeling that Ares had helped them and finished the raid. They hesitated, unsure about accepting such a huge reward, but Ares insisted, forcing them to take it.

He explained his reasoning, and after some consideration, they were convinced.

They had no choice but to accept, and all of them expressed their gratitude. They believed it would have been their last day, as they had been exhausted at the beginning of the fight and had almost lost hope.
