Rising through the Omniverse as a Herrscher

Chapter 18: Chapter 18

The question hung in the air like a blade suspended by a thread, sharp, dangerous, and impossible to ignore.

The two girls hesitated. Yuki's fingers twitched slightly, and Ayano's lips parted as if to answer, but no words came out. It wasn't that they hadn't considered it before, but now that the question was laid out before them so bluntly, it forced them to confront a truth they hadn't fully acknowledged.

"T-That's…" Yuki started, but she trailed off, her voice uncertain.

Ayano swallowed hard, clenching her fists. It wasn't that they were weak—they had already resolved themselves to fight. But killing was something else entirely.

Masachika sighed, closing his eyes briefly before speaking again.

"The reason I ask is simple. In this place, there is no mercy. It's kill or be killed. Nothing more, nothing less." His voice was steady, but the weight behind his words was crushing. "If you hesitate, if you hold back, you will die. That is the reality of this place. You can't afford to second-guess yourself, because the enemies here won't hesitate for even a second."

Yuki bit her lip, her mind racing. She knew he was right, but a part of her still resisted the idea.

Masachika's gaze didn't waver as he looked at them both again. His next words came out even sharper.

"So, let me ask you two again. Are you prepared to kill?"

Silence stretched between them. The heat of Hell felt even heavier now, not because of the flames but because of the weight of their decision. The air was thick with tension as Yuki and Ayano exchanged glances, both searching for the answer within themselves.

They had come here to grow stronger. To survive. But could they truly do what was necessary?

Masachika remained silent, his sharp gaze unwavering as he studied their expressions. He understood their hesitation—before all of this, Yuki and Ayano had been ordinary schoolgirls, their biggest concerns revolving around grades, friendships, and the usual struggles of adolescence. But after discovering the existence of the supernatural—learning that an entirely different world had always existed right beside their own—their reality had shifted irreversibly. The world they once knew was no longer the same, and neither were they.

"I… don't know…"

Yuki finally muttered, her voice barely above a whisper. She lowered her head slightly, gripping her hands into tight fists. The weight of the question pressed heavily on her, and doubt flickered in her eyes.

Masachika let out a small sigh, nodding in understanding. He wasn't disappointed—this was the natural reaction of someone who had never been forced to make such a choice before.

"I see," he said simply, his voice unreadable.

A heavy silence followed, only broken by the distant growls and roars of demons lurking in the depths of Hell. The air was thick with tension, as if the very world was waiting for her decision.

"But…" Yuki's voice cut through the silence, though it trembled at first. She lifted her head, her expression still conflicted but firming with each passing second. "If it's to make us stronger… then so be it."

Ayano remained silent for a moment, then exhaled slowly, closing her eyes as if coming to terms with the reality before her. When she opened them again, there was a newfound resolve within them.

"Un… If this is the path we must take to survive… then I will do what needs to be done," she said, though the slight shake in her hands betrayed her lingering hesitation.

Masachika studied them carefully. He could still see traces of fear, of uncertainty. But more importantly, he saw determination. They were afraid, but they weren't running away from it. That was enough—for now.

"…Good," he finally said, turning his back to them. "You don't need to force yourselves to change instantly. But once we start, there's no turning back. If you hesitate in battle, you die. Keep that in mind."

Despite the harshness of his words, Masachika's expression softened as he turned back toward them, offering a warm, reassuring smile. "Take your time," he added. "You don't have to rush—just be ready when the moment comes."

Yuki and Ayano both nodded, their expressions grim yet resolved.

Masachika then raised his hand, and the very air around them trembled. The ground beneath them cracked as an ominous presence surged from deep within the infernal landscape. The distant growls of demons grew louder, no longer lurking in the shadows but drawing closer, sensing the presence of new prey.

"Your first test starts now," Masachika said as he jump up high and look below them, his voice carrying an unshakable certainty. "Survive."

At those words, the first wave of demons emerged from the darkness, their monstrous forms illuminated by the hellish flames. Their piercing red eyes locked onto Yuki and Ayano, filled with hunger and bloodlust.

Yuki's clothes shifted, transforming into her battle suit as she deployed her Armament. At the same time, Ayano's attire changed into her own battle suit. Yuki watched as an endless horde of demons surged toward them.

Taking a deep breath to steady herself, she exhaled slowly before giving the order.

"Fire on sight!"

She pulled the trigger, and a brilliant blue laser shot from her Armament's muzzle, piercing through demons in a straight line. Rockets launched from their chutes, streaking through the air toward the approaching horde. Explosions erupted as the rockets found their marks, tearing through the advancing demons.

Beside her, Ayano noticed that some of the demons wielded long-range weapons. Without hesitation, she used her power to open portals, redirecting their attacks back at them, forcing them to fall to their own fire. Ayano also made a Space Collapse on the Demon that is near before them, Erasing them effectively.

The two continued their relentless assault, cutting down demons left and right. Yuki's Armament automatically replenished its ammunition, allowing her to fire without pause.

"There's no end to these hordes."

Yuki muttered as her Armament unleashed another volley of destruction.

"Yes, Yuki-sama. There is no end to these hordes of demons."

Ayano agreed, her voice steady despite the chaos. She conjured a spiraling weapon and launched it toward the incoming swarm, the attack tearing through their ranks. To buy them brief moments of respite, she manipulated time, slowing it down around them just enough to allow for quick recovery.

Yet, despite their efforts, the bodies of fallen demons piled before them, an overwhelming sight that would have unsettled anyone. However, they suppressed their horror—hesitation meant death.

Determined to break the deadlock, Yuki decided to escalate the fight. Using her Authority of Truth, she conjured an array of futuristic railguns, their sleek, metallic frames materializing into existence through sheer imagination. The moment they fired, the battlefield was consumed by destruction. The hyper-accelerated projectiles obliterated demons on impact, reducing them to chunks of flesh and bone. Every shot that struck the ground sent thunderous shockwaves through the battlefield, shaking even the air itself.

They fought on, wave after wave, until the ground shook with a terrifying presence. The Baron of Hell appeared on the battlefield. As soon as Yuki laid eyes on the monstrous figure, she immediately understood the gravity of their situation.

"Ayano, I'll handle the Baron of Hell. You deal with the other demons coming our way!"

Yuki's command was firm, and Ayano obeyed without hesitation.

Yuki aimed several railguns at the towering demon, her mind focused. With a swift motion, she unleashed an all-out barrage of lasers, rockets, and railgun projectiles toward the Baron. The air was filled with the deafening roar of weaponry.

The Baron of Hell charged forward, unfazed by the overwhelming assault. Each laser, rocket, and railgun round struck it, peeling away layers of flesh to reveal grotesque, exposed bone. Despite the damage, it continued its relentless advance, unfaltering.

Yuki's eyes widened in horrified disbelief. She fired faster, her ammunition never running out, but the beast seemed unstoppable. Finally, one of the shells struck its head directly, obliterating it in a massive explosion. The body staggered, then collapsed a few meters away, finally still.

With the Baron slain, Yuki's gaze shifted, her focus returning to the incoming swarm of demons. She knew the battle was far from over.

The battle raged on for what felt like an eternity, the two of them slaying an endless tide of demons. But as time passed, the ground trembled once more. The Elite Demons had arrived—Baron of Hell, Arch Vile, Doom Hunter, Marauder, and Tyrant. They were a force unlike any they had faced before.

Yuki and Ayano, recognizing the escalation, prepared for the ultimate assault.

Yuki summoned multiple massive Orbital Cannons, each blast powerful enough to create mushroom clouds of devastation. Without hesitation, she also conjured the Tsar Bomba, unleashing an apocalyptic detonation that obliterated the demon into nothingness.

Meanwhile, Ayano, unfazed by the immense strain, amplified her control over space and time. She created an even larger Space Collapse and Time Collapse, distorting reality itself. The very fabric of existence twisted as she erased the demon—not just from the present, but from the past and future, ensuring it never existed at all.

The battle raged on for hours, the demons swarming endlessly, their numbers seemingly infinite. Yet, Yuki continued to forge weapons of destruction, each capable of annihilating the world many times over. Meanwhile, Ayano wielded her Herrscher power without restraint, collapsing space and time itself to erase the demons from existence.

Above them, Masachika observed in silence, his gaze sharp as he monitored the battlefield. He had no intention of interfering unless necessary, but he remained vigilant. His presence was a failsafe—a guardian watching over them, ensuring that nothing beyond their expectations would unfold. However, his senses remained on high alert. The last time he had fought in a place like this, an army of Titans had emerged, shaking the very heavens with their might. If such a force appeared once more, he would be ready.

The very landscape of Hell twisted and warped under their overwhelming might. But at last, the tide began to turn. The relentless horde faltered, and finally, the last of the monstrous onslaught came to a halt.

Yuki, her arms heavy from the constant firing, wiped the sweat from her brow, her eyes betraying the exhaustion that had overtaken her. Her psyche, too, felt the strain of the unyielding battle.

"Is that all of them?"

Her voice was hoarse, fatigue settling deep within her bones. Ayano, standing beside her, was equally drained, her expression tired and her psyche equally worn.

There was no immediate response, only the oppressive silence of the battlefield. It was over—at least for now.

Masachika dropped between the two of them, his voice calm but filled with quiet approval.

"Yes, that's it, you two. Good work."

Yuki and Ayano, hearing his words, couldn't hold it in any longer. They both collapsed to the ground, the weight of their exhaustion crashing down on them like a tidal wave. The adrenaline from the battle wore off, leaving them drained, their bodies aching, their minds clouded by the intensity of what they'd just endured.

"So how is it, you two? Feeling alright?"

Masachika's voice cut through the haze of fatigue, his gaze flicking between them. He knew this was their first real taste of battle on such a scale—the slaughter of demons and the pressure of fighting an entire army.

"Yes… yes, we're okay."

Yuki's voice was strained, but she forced the words out, her body trembling from the effort. Ayano nodded weakly beside her, her face pale and drawn.

Seeing their state, Masachika's expression softened. He stepped forward, his hand gently raised as he invoked his Authority of Consciousness, the power wrapping around them like a protective shield. The wave of exhaustion and emotional turmoil that had been building inside them began to dissipate, their minds settling, the overwhelming fatigue slowly receding.

Masachika gave them both a reassuring look, silently acknowledging the toll the battle had taken on them.

"Rest now, you two."

At Masachika's words, Yuki and Ayano could no longer fight against their exhaustion. Their bodies gave in, and they collapsed. As Yuki fell, her Armament began to fade away, vanishing into nothingness, leaving only her battlesuit behind.

Masachika, already expecting this, moved swiftly, catching them before they hit the ground. His expression softened as he looked at their worn-out faces—battle-hardened yet still carrying traces of the normal lives they once lived.

With a quiet sigh, he activated his Authority of Consciousness, weaving a gentle influence over their minds. He ensured that their sleep would be peaceful, free from nightmares, allowing them to recover in a world of comforting dreams.

As he held them, Masachika remained silent, standing guard as they drifted into much-needed rest.

Masachika gently carried them in his arms, their bodies completely limp from exhaustion. With a quiet breath, he opened a Portal back to Earth, stepping through in an instant and finding himself back in his home.

He intended to let them rest properly in their beds, but as he glanced down, he noticed their current state—both were covered in blood and grime from the battle. Leaving them like this would be uncomfortable, and they needed to be cleaned up.

Not wanting to overstep, Masachika decided to call someone who could handle it more appropriately. Since Belfast was a woman and someone he trusted, she was the best choice.

Without any further delay, he called out, "Belfast."

"Yes, Masachika-sama," came her prompt response as she appeared before him.

"I'm sorry," he said, his expression slightly apologetic. "I know I already told you that you were free for today, but could you clean the two of them up and put them in their bed once you finished cleaning them up?"

Belfast followed his gaze and immediately understood the situation. Yuki and Ayano were exhausted, their bodies dirtied with blood and grime from their relentless battle against the demons in hell.

With a graceful nod, she reassured him, "It's no trouble at all, Masachika-sama. Please leave it to me."

With practiced ease, Belfast gently lifted Yuki and Ayano into her arms and carried them toward the bathroom. "I will make sure they are properly taken care of," she added before disappearing down the hall, her every movement exuding both care and professionalism.

"Now then… what to do?" Masachika muttered to himself, rubbing the back of his neck. His gaze shifted down to his clothes, now stained with blood and grime from touching Yuki and Ayano, who had been covered in filth after the battle. With a sigh, he decided to head to his room and change.

After swapping into fresh clothes, he tossed the dirty ones into the laundry basket, making a mental note to deal with them later. Sitting down on the bed, he let out a slow breath, his mind wandering.

He briefly considered returning to his base to continue furnishing it. There were still a few things he wanted to add, and the place lacked proper organization. However, the thought of getting up and doing more work felt exhausting. His body was still sore from his fight with Belfast.

"I guess I should do that next time," he decided, dismissing the idea for now. Instead, he reached for a nearby manga, flipping through the pages as he leaned back against the headboard. A quiet evening of reading seemed like the best way to recover.

Just as he was about to lose himself in the story, the doorbell rang.

"Hold on a sec," he called out, setting the book aside and making his way to the front door.

He then open his door to find it was Kiana.

"hm, Tuna? What are you doing?"
