Chapter 1014 THE SELECTION
1014 THE SELECTION
"HANNA, I don't want to pressure you, but I need you to perfect the Black Hole before we leave this world."
That did the opposite.
Hanna knew that Neoma wasn't really trying to pressure her, and learning how to use the Black Hole without killing her was the reason she was there. However, seeing how Neoma looked so serious made her more eager to meet the Imperial Princess's expectations.
Neoma is the person I don't want to disappoint.
"I'll do my best, Neoma," Hanna said determinedly. "Now that the Pirate Princess is here to work with me, I totally believe that I'll succeed this time."
Neoma smiled and nodded. "I believe in you, Hanna."
Those words would never fail to motivate her to work harder.
But she noticed something was different about the air around the Imperial Princess.
"Neoma, is something bothering you?" Hanna asked carefully. "You look like… you're up to no good again."
She wanted to say that it looked like Neoma had something in mind.
But that look on the Imperial Princess' face was something she had seen many times already.
"How did you know, Hanna?"
Oh, I'm right.
"We've known each other since we were kids," Hanna said, shrugging. "So, what are you planning to do this time."
Neoma tilted her head to one side while obviously in deep thought. "I think I want to eat a tree."
Ah, yes.
Neoma won't be Neoma without her weird antics.

"WHAT DID you say again, Moon Princess?"
Neoma raised an eyebrow at Trevor.
Even in this timeline, that's his pet name for me?
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Trevor asked, smiling charmingly at her. "Have you fallen for me?"
"Trevor, don't make me reject you even in this timeline," Neoma said, sighing while shaking her head. "Me and my sinful beauty. Had I known you'd fall for me here, I wouldn't have summoned you."
"Wow," Trevor said, obviously in disbelief. "And here I thought I had a massive ego…"
"Enough with the chitchat."
"You started it, Moon Princess."
"Whatever," Neoma said, rolling her eyes. "Anyway, I need your teleportation skills. Well, to be precise, your ability to open portals to different dimensions."
"Why?" Trevor asked, and it looked like he was genuinely confused. "I mean, you're powerful. A person on your level should have been blessed with a teleportation skill."
"I know, right? The gods nerfed me because I'm too powerful. They can't handle one Neoma Roseheart de Moonasterio in this world."
"You're using some foreign words, but I do get what you're trying to say."
"Good. I knew you were quick-witted even in this timeline."
Trevor just chuckled before asking: "So, where do you want me to take you, Moon Princess?"
"To the Cosmic Tree's world," Neoma said, licking her lower lip. "I'm craving for some trees."
"Huh?"
"I'm going there to eat some trees."
"Trees?"
"Yeah, there are a lot of trees in the Cosmic Tree's Garden."
"Are you crazy?"
"So I have been told… all my life."
Trevor looked surprised at first, and then he burst out laughing. "Moon Princess, I think I know why the other version of me fell for you!"
"Don't even think about falling for me again since I'm already committed to another person."
"And who succeeded in capturing your heart?"
"The Commander Yohan from my world."
"Ah, no wonder I never liked that commander."
"I'll kill you if you badmouth him."
Trevor acted like he was zipping up his mouth. "We're headed to the Cosmic Tree's Garden, right?"
"It won't be easy to open a portal there, Trevor."
"You wouldn't have asked me to bring you there if you didn't trust my abilities, Moon Princess."
"Right. I'm glad you're smart."
"Give me a day, Moon Princess," Trevor said, smiling as his dark violet eyes glowed. "I'll open a portal that leads to the Cosmic Tree's Garden in a day."
That was fast.
As expected of Trevor.
Neoma nodded, satisfied. "I'll wait then, Trevor."

"I THOUGHT I needed to throw a tantrum before you show up, my dear nephew."
Nero almost threw up on the spot because of Calyx and his disgusting greeting.
Yes, the "monster" that crawled into his palace was none other than the delusional bastard.
What's that thing on his shoulder?
Of course, Nero was aware that crows were the "mascots" of Calyx's organization.
However, the mechanical bird on that bastard's shoulder was unnerving— especially its glowing red eyes.
It's a god.
But Nero thought that the god exuded energy closer to a monster's than a divine power.
That's why I've mistaken it for a monster.
Anyway, Nero and his knights found Calyx waiting for him in the entrance hall of his palace.
Some knights will lose their jobs after this.
"You're hurting my feelings, Nero," Calyx said while approaching Nero. "It's been a while since we've seen each other. And yet you're not paying attention to me."
Nero raised his head in time to see Raku and Sanford Devon stand in front of him protectively.
Even Melvin, the scaredy-cat, stood in front of him as if to shield him from Calyx.
Should I be touched?
"You're overreacting," Calyx said when he stopped right in front of Nero's loyal knights. "We're on a ceasefire, remember?"
"It's true that we're on a ceasefire, but what does it have to do with this situation?" Sanford Devon said, his snarky personality coming out. "You're sexually harassing His Imperial Majesty with your lustful gaze."
Of course, that was a comment that Calyx wouldn't let slide.
Nero raised his hand at the same time the mechanical crow on Calyx's shoulder moved.
Zeru, the ice phoenix, appeared in front of them and created a wall of transparent ice that blocked the dark energy that almost hit Sanford Devon.
And that energy came from the mechanical crow.
No wonder the ice wall that Zeru created instantly melted at the same time the dark energy disappeared into thin air.
Nero shot Calyx a cold glare. "Are you picking a fight with me?"
"No, not at all," Calyx said, raising his arms in surrender. "I'm only here to talk about the Selection."
The Selection?
Nero tilted his head to one side. "What's that again?"
Calyx smiled as if a brilliant idea just popped into his mind. "Should we talk about it over a cup of tea?"
"No, that won't be necessary."
That wasn't Nero.
Tsk.
Why is he here?
Nero turned his cold gaze at Ruto Solfrid who manifested out of nowhere. "What do you know about this 'Selection?'"
Ruto Solfrid glanced at Nero with a stoic look on his face. "Everything you don't, Your Imperial Majesty."
This bastard really has a death wish.
