Chapter 123: Aaron's First Defeat
"H-He is flying?"
"Wait! Is there a talent that can make someone fly freely?"
"He's pretty strong. No wonder Captain Nathan wants to spar with him."
People were talking a lot about Arthur, mainly his ability to compete with Nathan. Nathan's aide began to feel panicky, uneasy. She was worried that Arthur might defeat Nathan.
'Please, Arthur. Consider my offer,' the aide replied, looking at Arthur expectantly -not expecting Arthur to win.
Nathan emitted his magic aura powerfully, giving rise to a strong boom of energy fluctuations in the place.
The other members could faintly hear the surge of magic; they felt something was different about Nathan this time.
Arthur glanced to the side and saw the woman Nathan's aide was looking at him with round eyes. The man sighed, trying to think of the impact of the results from this exercise.
If Arthur won, Nathan's reputation would fall, and the Sky Sword members' trust in him would drop. Arthur had nothing to gain but the pride of having defeated Nathan.
Oh, come on. What could be greater than defeating Nathan, the captain of the 14th Sky Sword? Arthur has done more than defeat Nathan -killed Bright and saved the city.
If Arthur loses, Nathan will be even more revered, and his members' confidence in him will increase. Arthur could also potentially get items that could enhance his abilities. Still, his friends in the 13th squad would be disappointed.
Arthur's eyes were closed tightly, trying to sort out what decision he could make about the situation. In the end, Arthur had made up his mind.
"Are you ready, Arthur?" asked Nathan.
The man brought up a large magic circle behind his back, a blue one with an ancient script within it.
People were mesmerized by Nathan's abilities. It looked like he wasn't training with Arthur anymore but fighting to the death with him.
Arthur saw the magic flow in the surrounding area being absorbed and flowing into the magic circle, a considerable amount of magic energy.
To deal with this, Arthur could handle it with his own power. However, it would frustrate Nathan and cause him to lose prestige when his magic was blocked so easily.
"Show me your best strength, Arthur!" said Nathan, pointing upwards.
"You forced me to do this, Captain Nathan."
The man floating in the sky began to summon a sub talent from his main talent. Not to use the ultimate, but another sub-talent.
[Talent Activated]
[Sub Talent Activated]
[Dimensional Explosion Orb]
[MP -50000]
[Name: Aaron]
[MP: 32900/257000] [-50000]
From the direction behind Arthur, hundreds of dimensional portals appeared with a size as tall as an adult man.
People were taken aback, not expecting Arthur to have such a great ability to surprise Nathan.
Nathan also sensed that Arthur's dark energy density was quite strong. He could not manipulate the sub-talent.
Not wanting to lose in front of his members, Nathan pulled the sword out of its sheath and plunged it into the ground.
Not only did he summon the magic of the sub-talent behind him, but Nathan also did something to the sword.
He cast his magic onto the blade of the sword, making it glow bright blue and amaze the crowd. Arthur was still watching what Nathan was about to do.
'What is he gonna do?' Arthur asked.
Nathan pointed the magic-enhanced sword at the sky, piercing through the clouds and giving rise to a large glow that formed a sky-blue portal. Arthur looked up; the portal wasn't like a dimensional portal.
'Is he trying to kill me?' asked Arthur, squinting curiously.
The man before Arthur smiled, looking up at the sky with exhausted breath. Nathan said these two magics were his best, never letting him down.
"Anyone hit by this magic will die," Nathan replied.
"So, you're trying to kill me?"
"Not really. You can handle my two magic attacks if you're strong enough, right?"
"I am indeed strong," Arthur complained, staring into the sky.
Sara gasped. The woman had complained to the referee of the exercise as the original agreement was to exercise until one of them gave up; there was no option to fight to the death.
Although the referee felt the two men's fight had crossed the line, he couldn't stop Nathan due to the referee's status as a Sky Sword member, while Nathan was the group's captain.
Arthur sensed their unease. He would not let Nathan's two magic attacks hurt him, no matter what.
From behind Nathan's back, a blue magic circle spawned attacks from five different elements; one magic element was in a smaller magic circle.
In the sky portal, Arthur saw a giant sword gliding powerfully, accompanied by a strong gust of wind, sending everything around it flying. Two magics unleashed their attacks forward, targeting Arthur, who was defenseless.
Arthur's left hand was directed forward to form a purple magic wall, while his right was directed upwards to destroy Nathan's giant sword.
The explosive orb shot strongly upwards to shatter the sword, the boom of the explosion sounded in rhythm with the purple smoke filling all parts of Nathan's giant sword.
[Damage +54200]
[Damage +21500]
[Damage +23100]
[Triple Combo! Great]
Nathan gasped, feeling his sword slowly begin to shatter in the sky. Having no choice, he allocated the last of his MP to strengthen the sword. The giant sword still withstood Arthur's barrage of explosive orbs.
Arthur struggled to withstand Nathan's magic attacks of five different elements in his left hand. A wall of magic was created and held back the hundreds of swords aimed at him, but Nathan's attacks could easily destroy it since it was just an ordinary magic wall.
Arthur gasped. He began to focus his attacks forward to block Nathan's attacks, solely to prevent them from hitting his body.
Nathan smiled as he saw that Arthur was getting overwhelmed by his attacks. Bringing out his best, Nathan focused on defeating Arthur in this attack.
[Damage -23500]
[Damage -35000]
[You took two combo damage!]
[Name: Aaron]
[HP: 18000/76500] [-58500]
[WARNING!]
[HP is below safe limit]
[Recovery immediately! ]
Arthur vomited blood, falling from the sky with a body full of wounds. The explosion was created due to Arthur's failure to protect himself. Sara saw Arthur fall and rushed over to the young man.
Nathan deactivated his magic and stopped attacking Arthur. The man rushed to the front to meet Arthur, where Sara and the 13th squad were already there.
"What is his condition?" asked Nathan.
"His HP is below the safe limit. Mona will restore his condition," said Sara. Nathan nodded in relief.
In the end, Nathan was named the winner of this exercise. Yet, the appreciative applause was done by many for Arthur, the man who managed to withstand Nathan's strength.
Your next chapter is on My Virtual Library Empire
"Take him to my residence. He will be taken good care of there," Nathan commanded. Sara and the others nodded in agreement.
Just when Arthur was unconscious, he found himself in a room full of chains on the walls. The room's floor looked flooded with black water, which seemed familiar to Arthur.
"If you're here, then it's time for you to remove the shackles on my right hand," said a man, speaking in a heavy voice from the front.
Aaron looked forward and saw with surprise that the man sitting on the throne was Dark Azazel. The shackles had been removed from his left hand, and now he asked Aaron for help removing the shackles from his right hand.
"By removing these shackles, you will gain greater power as you desire."
"How is it? Do we have terms?"
