RWBY: Oscar the gamer

Chapter 42: Obsession

Penny was in her room, her room was in a air ship, she originally didn't have her own room but after a certain incident they decided to give her, her own room

Normally her room has a few things, a TV, A Bed, A charging pode, which she doesn't need anymore, a communicator to a secret Channel to her Father, no normally comes into come to her room, which was a good because right not it was mess.

Because on her wall was a map of beacons each then had a pin which was attached to a picture of the white mask she had photo copied, each news side and everything, each pin was stringed with a red string, as it had many pictures attached they said No or was crossed, showing that these were not him. Some were dangling other were pin, as she put the latest picture as well.

Penny want back, as she smiled she then touched her head, as her left eye turned red, as she started to talk, but no one was in her room, almost like she was talking to someone in her mind. "No this is not a problem". She then stopped. "I just wanna know who he is that is all". She goes quite again. "What is Yandere". She went quite again. "No I am not that". She stopped again. "A stalkers..... Maybe I just wanna know ok".

Her left eye then turned back normal, as she looked at the Picture.

Penny paced around her room, glancing at the tangled web of pictures, strings, and notes covering her wall. Each picture of the White Mask was meticulously arranged, with annotations scribbled next to them. It was clear she had been obsessively working on this for some time.

She stood in front of the latest blurry photo of Adam's red blade, biting her lip in thought. "So... he has enemies too," she muttered to herself, her voice a mix of curiosity and determination.

Her mind wandered back to their brief encounters—the way he moved, his calculated strikes, and especially that one kiss he gave her to escape. Her cheeks flushed at the memory, though she quickly shook her head, trying to focus. "No, no, this isn't about that. I just want to understand him... and why he's doing this."

Penny's hand instinctively moved to her temple, and her left eye glowed red again. She began speaking once more, her tone defensive. "Yes, I know it's excessive, but it's not like I'm hurting anyone. I just want to know who he is. That's all!" She paused, as if listening to a response.

"What do you mean this is unhealthy?" she snapped, her voice rising slightly. "It's research! He's a vigilante operating near Beacon. He could be a danger to the city... or an ally. Knowing his identity is important!"

Her eye dimmed for a moment before glowing again as she continued. "No, I am not a stalker! And I am definitely not a... yandere. Whatever that is!" She huffed and crossed her arms, glaring at the photo.

After a long silence, her expression softened. She leaned closer to the wall, tracing her finger over one of the images. "He's... different. He doesn't act like the other criminals or heroes. He's neutral... but why? What drives someone to live in the shadows like that?"

Her eye returned to normal as she sighed and sat on her bed, staring at the chaotic display on her wall. "I'll figure you out, White Mask. One way or another."

Unbeknownst to Penny, her obsession was slowly growing into something more complicated—a mix of admiration, curiosity, and something she didn't fully understand herself. For now, all she could do was wait for his next appearance and hope to uncover the truth.

Penny's left eye glowed brighter as she paced the room, her advanced mind analyzing every piece of information she'd gathered. Her voice was calm yet tinged with an obsessive curiosity, as if speaking to an invisible presence in the room. "You might be right... he could be laying low after that encounter with the Red Blade guy. But even if he's hiding, there's always a pattern. People like him can't resist stepping in when things get chaotic."

She stopped and stared at the map on her wall, her gaze focused on the red strings connecting the dots. "He targets small crimes and major dust heists... but there's no discernible schedule, no specific region he sticks to. The randomness makes it hard to predict. But randomness isn't real—it's just order we haven't figured out yet."

Her mechanical fingers twitched slightly as she traced a line from one pin to another. "The White Mask isn't just any vigilante; he's tactical, deliberate. He doesn't just act without purpose. If he stopped Roman Torchwick's plans once, it's likely he'll want to interfere again. That means he'll surface wherever Roman or this new Red Blade guy tries to act."

She tilted her head slightly, the red glow in her eye intensifying. "But how do I track someone who doesn't want to be found? Surveillance in Vale is limited, and if he's using that shadow ability from the recent reports, it's nearly impossible to follow him with conventional means..."

Her tone shifted, almost playful but still eerie. "Unless... I lure him out."

Penny turned to her workstation, opening a holographic display. With swift movements, she began programming something into the interface. "A carefully staged scenario... something that screams 'trap' to draw out the White Mask. He's clever, but if he thinks innocent lives are at stake, he won't be able to resist stepping in."

She smirked slightly, the red glow in her eye fading momentarily. "Now, I just need the perfect location and the right bait. If I can't find him... I'll make him come to me."

As she worked, the room was silent except for the faint hum of machinery. Penny's determination had only deepened, her mind set on unraveling the mystery of the White Mask, no matter what it took.

Penny's fingers danced over the holographic keyboard as she refined her plan. "The bait has to be convincing. Something that would force him to act immediately. Roman's crew has been targeting Dust shipments lately... I could simulate a heist." She paused, tapping her chin thoughtfully. "But I'll need to make it look real. If it's too perfect, he'll suspect a setup."

She accessed the archives of Vale's recent Dust supply routes, cross-referencing with reports of Roman Torchwick's activity. "There... a shipment scheduled to leave from Dock 17 tomorrow night. I'll intercept the data and create a fake report of a heist happening there. Add some chatter to the underground channels about Roman's crew planning something big. That should spread quickly enough to get his attention."

Penny's left eye glowed red again, her voice dropping to a murmur. "But what if he doesn't show up? What if he's too cautious after the Red Blade encounter?"

The voice in her head responded, and Penny nodded in agreement. "Yes... a failsafe. If he doesn't come, I'll have drones in the area to monitor anyone suspicious. If he's watching from the shadows, I'll find him."

Her hands paused for a moment, her gaze drifting to the map on the wall. A flicker of uncertainty crossed her face. "But... what if he recognizes me? What if he knows it's a trap?" She shook her head, banishing the thought. "No, he's too focused on his mission. He wouldn't see me as a threat—just another bystander caught in the chaos."

Satisfied with her plan, Penny turned away from her workstation and sat on her bed, her fingers interlocked as she stared at the ceiling. "I'm not doing this because I'm obsessed... I just need to understand him. Why does he fight? Why does he hide? And why..." Her voice softened, almost hesitant. "Why does he make me feel this way?"

She lay back on the bed, her thoughts racing. The room fell silent once more, save for the faint hum of her systems. Tomorrow night would be pivotal. Either she would finally confront the White Mask or uncover another layer of his elusive persona.

As the glow from her left eye dimmed completely, Penny whispered to herself, "I'll find you, White Mask... and when I do, I'll get my answers."

Penny then went back as she spoke. "The white Mask must someone smart, strong and very powerful and I will fin him, I wonder what he is doing".

Meanwhile what she doesn't know is, as Oscar was trying sleep, for the night as tomorrow his team was going to city to buy some thing for the trip, it happen Ruby rolled of her top bunk and landed on Oscar, sense Oscar bed was in the middle of the two bunk bet, with Yang to his righr Weiss to his left, Ruby landed directly on him as his face got squeezed by Ruby chest.

Oscar's eyes shot wide open as he felt the unexpected impact. He tried to process what had just happened, but all coherent thought vanished as Ruby groaned, still half-asleep, and shifted slightly, unknowingly pressing down even more on him.

"Ruby!" Oscar whispered in a panicked voice, his face heating up. "Get off me!"

Ruby blinked a few times, still groggy, and slowly realized she wasn't on her bed anymore. Her eyes fluttered open fully as she noticed Oscar's flustered expression below her. It took a second longer for the realization to hit her.

Her face turned as red as her cloak. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" she squeaked, scrambling to get off him, but in her panic, she ended up rolling to the side and bumping into Weiss's bed instead.

"Ruby, what are you—" Weiss started, sitting up abruptly. She looked down at the scene, her expression shifting from irritation to mild embarrassment as she pieced together what had happened.

Yang, who had been lightly snoring, woke up to the commotion. She sat up with a wide grin on her face. "What's going on here? Ruby, are you falling for Oscar or something?"

"Yang!" Ruby shouted, her face somehow turning even redder. "It was an accident!"

Oscar sat up, rubbing his face and trying to calm his racing heart. "It's fine, really. Let's just forget this ever happened."

"Not a chance!" Yang said, laughing as she leaned against the bedframe. "This is golden. Poor Oscar, getting attacked in his sleep by my clumsy little sister."

Ruby groaned, covering her face with her hands. "Can we please just go back to bed?"

Weiss sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Honestly, Ruby, you need to be more careful. How do you even manage to roll off the bed like that?"

"I don't know!" Ruby replied, still hiding her face. "I was dreaming about cookies or something, and then—ugh, just forget it!"

Yang chuckled as she lay back down. "This is the best thing that's happened all week. Sweet dreams, Ruby. Try not to roll off the bed again."

Oscar sighed as he adjusted his pillow. "Goodnight, everyone," he muttered, hoping to finally get some peace. As the room settled down, he thought to himself, Tomorrow can't come soon enough.

Blake looked down from her side. "Can we just have one normal night, last night Yang set the lamp on fire".

Oscar chuckled softly, still lying back on his bed. "Honestly, I'm starting to think normal isn't even in this team's vocabulary."

Blake sighed, rubbing her temples. "Yang, care to explain why the lamp became a bonfire last night?"

Yang, still grinning from Ruby's earlier incident, shrugged nonchalantly. "It was an accident! I just wanted to see if Ember Celica's upgrades worked with a smaller Dust cartridge."

Blake gave her a deadpan look. "And you thought the best place to test that was inside our dorm room?"

"Hey, it wasn't my fault the lamp couldn't handle the awesomeness," Yang said with a wink. "Besides, I put it out before it got too bad!"

Weiss crossed her arms and glared at Yang. "You almost set my bed on fire. If I hadn't woken up when I did, we'd all be sleeping outside right now."

"Wouldn't be the first time," Yang said with a smirk, earning herself a pillow thrown by Weiss.

Ruby groaned, finally recovering from her earlier embarrassment. "Can we just all agree not to burn, break, or fall off anything for one night? Please?"

"Seconded," Oscar said, raising a hand weakly. "I'd like to survive at least one more day before the trip."

Blake leaned back against her pillow and sighed. "Agreed. Let's just try to sleep before someone else decides to test out a new invention or accidentally crush someone in their sleep."

The room fell quiet again, save for the occasional shuffling as everyone got comfortable. Yang muttered something about Weiss being "too dramatic," while Ruby whispered a quick apology to Oscar one more time.

As the lights dimmed, Oscar closed his eyes and thought to himself, This team might be chaotic, but at least it's never boring.

The next morning happened, as everyone was in Mr Oobleck class, as it was about the battle in White Snow during the Faunus revolution in Mantle.

Oobleck looked at everyone. "So what advance did the Faunus have"

He pointed at Jaune, as Jaune he panicked a bit wondering what to say then he got a wishper 'Night Vision'.

It was quite enough only he can hear as he spoke. "Night vision".

Oobleck smiled as he looked at Jaune. "Very well done Mr Arc, but anything else".

Cardine then spoke in his same tone. "It is better to train a Animals (Faunus) then a Human".

Oscar just looked at him and spoke. "Or maybe because they weren't dum and an asshole like cirten someone".

The class went silent as everyone turned their heads toward Oscar, shocked at his bold response. Cardin's smug grin dropped instantly, replaced with a scowl.

"What did you just say, farm boy?" Cardin growled, standing up from his seat.

Oscar, unfazed, leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms. "You heard me. Maybe the Faunus won because they weren't too busy being arrogant and underestimating their opponents."

Before Cardin could respond, Mr. Oobleck cleared his throat loudly, his tone sharp. "Gentlemen! This is my classroom, not a battleground. Mr. Winchester, sit down. And Mr. Pine, while your point may have merit, I suggest keeping personal comments to yourself."

Cardin reluctantly sat down, glaring daggers at Oscar, while Oscar just shrugged, unbothered. Jaune gave Oscar a grateful look, whispering, "Thanks for that."

Oscar nodded slightly, but his focus quickly returned to Oobleck, who continued with his lecture. "Now, as Mr. Arc mentioned, night vision was indeed a significant advantage. However, as we saw in the battle of White Snow, strategy played an equally vital role. The Faunus utilized their terrain knowledge and superior coordination to outmaneuver Mantle's forces. Can anyone elaborate on how terrain was used to their advantage?"

Blake raised her hand, and Oobleck gestured for her to speak. "The Faunus used the dense forests and snowy conditions to set up ambushes. They knew the terrain better than Mantle's forces, who were ill-prepared for prolonged combat in such harsh conditions."

"Precisely, Ms. Belladonna! Excellent observation!" Oobleck said, his voice brimming with enthusiasm as he zoomed across the room.

As the lecture continued, Oscar couldn't help but notice Blake's subtle smirk as she glanced at him as he exactly why. It was as if she appreciated his earlier remark defending the Faunus. Cardin, on the other hand, spent the rest of the class sulking, his pride clearly bruised.

When the bell rang, signaling the end of class, Ruby bounced up to Oscar. "That was awesome! The way you shut Cardin up? Totally cool!"

"Yeah," Yang added with a grin. "I didn't think you had it in you, Oscar."

Oscar scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "I just said what needed to be said."

Blake walked past him, pausing briefly to say, "Thanks for that."

As the team left the classroom, Weiss glanced back at Oscar. "Try not to let it go to your head. We still have a trip to prepare for."

Oscar chuckled to himself. Never a dull moment with this group.
