Chapter 17: SS 17: The Strongest Man on Earth!
Boom!!
A creature resembling Piccolo Daimao ravaged the city.
"I am Vaccine Man!"
"I represent Earth's will, here to purge you humans."
"Humans are bacteria leeching off the planet!"
Vaccine Man cackled wildly.
His power intoxicated him, as if he were a true god.
Ruler of all.
"You…"
Boom!!
Before Vaccine Man could finish, his body exploded.
A shower of blood rained down.
"Too much talk."
Saitama appeared behind him, expression blank.
"As expected, the world's luck grows denser."
"Are these monsters truly tools of so-called gods to cleanse Earth's life?"
"Is Saitama truly a savior born of destiny?"
Gazing at the swirling world luck above Saitama's head, Kaiser mused silently.
Each monster Saitama defeated deepened the world's favor toward him.
His strength grew.
A positive cycle.
"Let's go, the supermarket's about to start its sale."
Saitama approached Kaiser.
"Hm?"
As Kaiser prepared to leave, he sensed something.
He turned his gaze.
"Interesting. Someone's siphoning off Saitama's luck?"
"Who's that?"
Kaiser saw the world's luck split in two.
Most flowed into Saitama, but a sliver drifted elsewhere.
Thump… Thump… Thump…
A massive heartbeat echoed.
"This is?"
Kaiser had a guess.
Saitama and King, the limiter summoner.
A weakling, yet crowned the world's strongest man.
Remarkably, no one exposed him.
By the time of the Monster Association and Garou battle, King, a mere mortal, intimidated four Dragon-level monsters.
A man maxed out on luck.
"Wait a sec, I found an interesting guy."
Kaiser said to Saitama.
He approached King.
"Here's my address."
"I'll be here for three months."
"You've got rare potential, a one-in-a-million talent for martial arts."
"If you want to get stronger, come find me."
Kaiser handed King Saitama's address.
King's rise began with Vaccine Man.
He claimed credit for Saitama's feats, landing at S-Rank 7 in the Hero Association.
Dubbed the world's strongest man.
"Interesting. With the world's luck, how far can you go?"
Kaiser had an idea.
It wasn't fully formed.
If he could make King truly worthy of his title, could he trade for his world luck?
For a mortal like King, luck meant nothing.
Even Saitama likely wouldn't care.
If Kaiser proposed a trade, it'd likely be accepted.
If this plan worked, he could repeat it in other supernatural worlds.
"Is he strong?"
Saitama looked at Kaiser, curious.
He sensed no strength in King.
Though his appearance was intimidating.
"Maybe a dark horse?"
"If I leave, training a helper or rival for you wouldn't be bad, right?"
Saitama dropped the topic.
Events unfolded as in the original story.
Kaiser watched powerful monsters fall to Saitama's fists.
The luck above Saitama's head grew unimaginably dense.
His strength evolved daily.
"By my count, Genos should show up soon."
Kaiser thought of Saitama's disciple.
The flashiest fighter, taking the harshest beatings, the Demon Cyborg Genos.
Ding-dong…
The doorbell interrupted Kaiser's thoughts.
"Huh?"
"Someone's here for me?"
Saitama walked to the door, puzzled.
With monsters ravaging Z-City, it was nearly deserted.
Only Saitama remained in the neighborhood.
A few delinquents lingered, but not many.
Saitama didn't know them.
"It's you."
Saitama recognized King.
"Sorry for the unannounced visit."
"Is Mr. Kaiser here?"
King asked, visibly nervous.
He'd been named S-Rank 7 by the Hero Association.
He was terrified.
S-Rank heroes faced powerful monsters.
No matter how he explained, the Hero Association took it as modesty.
They ignored him.
Multiple coincidences propelled him to S-Rank 7.
He felt his days were numbered.
As an S-Rank, he was on every monster's radar.
No matter how low-key he stayed, they'd find him.
Then he remembered the man he'd met.
He dug out the notebook with the address.
Sneaking through dangers, he reached Z-City.
"Kaiser, someone's here for you."
Saitama turned to Kaiser.
"You came."
"Come in, sit."
"Join us for hot pot."
Kaiser smiled, gesturing for King to sit.
"Mr. Kaiser, please save me."
King dropped to his knees, head bowed low.
"Don't worry, I said you've got potential."
"But this is a transaction."
"I'll teach you true strength."
"In exchange, you give me what I want."
Kaiser replied.
"What you want?"
"May I ask what that is?"
King asked cautiously.
"Your luck."
"Luck?"
"What's that?"
"Like fortune?"
King was confused.
"You can think of it that way."
"It won't affect you at all."
Kaiser explained.
"Alright!"
"No problem!"
King saw no reason for a powerhouse like Kaiser to lie.
He agreed to the deal without hesitation.
