Saiyan System (English)

Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Anomaly...

The system's warning echoed in Ikaris' mind like a warning bell. He frowned, pondering the implications of that notification. Anomaly? Unknown danger level? The system had never given him such a vague warning before.

His instinct screamed that something was wrong, but he still didn't know what. He decided to stay calm and not alarm Laila, who continued to eat quietly in front of him. But he could feel his heart beating faster, as if he were preparing for imminent danger.

With a slight movement of his hand, he mentally opened the system's interface, trying to access more information about the alert. Unfortunately, there were no additional details. Just that cryptic message.

"Damn... what could it be?" I let out a vague whisper.

Laila noticed Ikaris' thoughtful expression and tilted her head. "You look strange. Has something happened?"

I hesitated for a moment, but decided that hiding it from her wouldn't be a good idea. "This world Laila... it doesn't seem to be as simple as we imagine..."

Laila immediately put down her fork and straightened up in her chair. "What do you mean? What happened?"

With a sigh, I raised my hands to stretch. "The day I turned into Oozaru, when I was coming back, the system gave me a rather... different notification."

"An anomaly had been detected..."

Laila looked around, as if expecting to see something unusual in the kitchen. "An anomaly? Like, something dangerous?"

"I have no idea. But the system recommended that I leave the premises." I let out a tired sigh, crossing my arms. "The problem is that he's never told me anything like this before. That's different."

"Well... there doesn't seem to be anything strange here. Do you feel anything with your Ki?"

I closed my eyes for a moment and expanded my perception. I could feel the familiar presences of my mother and stepfather miles away, I sensed my brother in a safe place, and I could even feel my friends scattered around the city. But then...

Something was wrong.

A chill ran down my spine, I detected something out of the ordinary. It was a faint presence, almost imperceptible, but definitely not human. It was like nothing he had ever felt before

It would have been fine if it had just been an animal, but he could feel it... as soon as his Ki locked onto this "thing", the thing sensed him too.

Then I opened my eyes abruptly. "There's something nearby. I don't know what it is, but it's definitely not normal."

[Ding]

[Anomaly detected in the area - Danger level unknown - It is recommended that the host remain alert].

The system message... this time it was different, there was no threat level yet, and it just told me to stay alert...

Laila stood up immediately, her eyes becoming more serious at the sight of that system message. "So what are we going to do?" I took a deep breath. "First, we can't panic. We need to understand what it is before we take any rash action."

Laila nodded. "Do you want to investigate?"

I nodded, I couldn't just ignore this anomaly. Something inside him told me that this was no coincidence. Besides, if it was something dangerous, he didn't want other innocent people to be affected.

"Yes. But carefully." I looked at her seriously. "If something goes wrong, you run without hesitation. Understood?"

Laila crossed her arms and snorted. "Please, Ikaris. Do you think I'm going to let you face this alone? We're a team."

I gave a smile, despite the tension that seemed visible in the air. "I knew you'd say that."

"But regardless, if there's any danger to me, you could end up dead before you know it." I'm serious, I could currently destroy an entire city with my raw power alone, if it's something that could harm me, there's nothing Laila could do.

Laila was silent for a few moments, she knew it was true... "Well then, let me help you get ready at least, I have to give my boyfriend some support, don't I?" She gave a reassuring smile.

I couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to her.

With that, they both got ready. I quickly checked my status on the system and confirmed that I was still in top form after training with Kuririn. Her fighting power was still stable, and her energy flowed freely.

Suddenly I remembered something.

"System, what is this minor lineage evolution?"

[Ding]

[Lineage evolution is one of the only system functions capable of affecting someone who isn't the system host, it's divided into 3 levels, minor, medium, and superior].

[Attention, the system cannot upgrade your Saiyan lineage because it is the result of your primary ability, certain requirements are necessary for this].

"I see, what if I want to evolve my human lineage?" I asked a little anxiously, and here it is, just what I was looking for.

[Ding]

[The possible {minor} evolutions for a human are:

[Pure Human]

The original human being, while maximizing the potential of the species, and the capacity for adaptability, suffers from a weaker physique, and a lack of preparation for extreme environments.

[Low demon]

The lowest-ranking being in hell, it has slightly stronger regeneration than an ordinary human, high strength, the ability to use abyssal magic, a strong mind, and low potential.

[Angel]

A being blessed with divinity related to light, is able to acquire power from the gods(Not recommended), has high physical strength, increased flight speed, a weak mind, and unchanged potential.

[Magus]

A being endowed with the ability to utilize the energy of the world, a naturally magical being, however with extremely reduced physical capabilities, compensated by a mind as strong as a demon, and a high potential.

[The human lineage can evolve into these four variations, it is highly recommended to avoid lineages such as [Demons] and [Angels], these lineages would completely change the host, causing incomprehensible alterations]

"I see..." Laila was standing next to me looking at the system screen with a serious face, she wasn't a fool, she realized that Ikaris asking about this right away meant that he was planning to give her this opportunity.

I gave a slight smile "So love, which one do you choose?" Indeed, I wanted to give her this opportunity, as a Saiyan I can continue to improve myself without worry... but it would be dangerous for Laila to accompany me being so... weak.

Laila weighed up the pros and cons, and took the system's warning into account..."I choose... [Pure Human]..."

........

They left the house cautiously, heading in the direction from which Ikaris had sensed the strange presence. As they got closer, the sensation became more intense. It was as if something was watching them, but without revealing itself completely.

Suddenly, a noise came from the alley next to the house. A dry snap, followed by a slight rustling in the wind.

A hooded figure was standing there, as if waiting for them. His face was hidden by the shadow of the hood, and his presence was almost unreal. The air around this person seemed distorted, as if they didn't completely belong in that world.

I felt my skin crawl. This being was definitely not human.

The figure tilted its head slightly, as if analyzing the two of us. Then, in a low, calm voice, it spoke:

"I've finally found you... descendant of the lost legacy."

My heart raced instantly

Laila tensed beside him. "Who are you? What do you want with Ikaris?"

The figure remained motionless for a moment before raising one hand slightly. A light wave of invisible energy spread through the air, making Ikaris feel a strange pressure on his body. It was a type of energy unlike anything he had ever experienced.

"Your awakening was faster than we expected. That's interesting... but also problematic."

I instantly felt the pressure, but my mind was on something else. Laila!

I could feel it, she was feeling it too, but with each passing second, I could feel her Ki changing, adapting, becoming like a mixture between Ki and that strange energy.

Laila looked at Ikaris with concern. "Ikaris... this doesn't look good."

"Laila, run NOW!" I shouted with all my might, increasing my Ki to the maximum, suppressing that energy that was in both of us.

She wasted no time, using all her strength she ran out of there, while I stared at that figure.

"Your awakening was faster than we expected. That's interesting... but also problematic."

I clenched my fists and went into my battle pose. "No more riddles. Who are you and what do you want with me?"

The mysterious being took a small step forward, and his presence became even more oppressive. "You are an important part of something much bigger, young warrior. And now that I've found you, the others will come too." Something told him that his life was about to change again, and this time, it could be something far beyond what he was prepared to face.

The air around Ikaris seemed to vibrate with the presence of that stranger. His mind was screaming at him to act, but at the same time, he knew he couldn't just go ahead without understanding what he was up against.

"The others?" the stranger's words repeated themselves in my mind, so I asked, maintaining my combat stance, "Who else is looking for me?"

The hooded figure didn't answer immediately. Instead, he raised one of his hands, and a strange energy began to condense around him. It was a completely different sensation to Ki, something dense and cold, as if it were draining the very reality around it.

"Your awakening was a rare event. Don't you realize it? There are forces in this world that can't be explained with the concept of Ki alone. You... are caught between two destinies."

His Ki was fluctuating, unstable, as if it were something beyond what he knew. But there was something else there... a remnant of something that seemed somehow familiar.

I narrowed my eyes. "Who... or rather, what are you really?"

The stranger was silent for a moment before finally speaking. "I'm a trace. An echo of something that was forgotten a long time ago. And you... you are proof that the cycle has not yet been broken."

Before I could reply, a burst of energy from afar caught his attention. His heart raced... That direction...

"Laila!"

He didn't even think twice. Completely ignoring the stranger, he shot off in the direction of the explosion. His Ki increased to the maximum as he cut through the sky, every cell in his body screaming for him to get there as quickly as possible.

When he finally landed, he saw Laila lying on the ground, panting, her body trembling slightly. Next to her was another hooded figure, different from the first.

"So... you really did come running for her." The new figure murmured, his voice laden with interest. "That's fascinating."

I felt anger explode in my chest. Without hesitation, I lunged forward with a direct punch. But before I could hit him, the figure simply disappeared into thin air, as if it had never been there.

Laila coughed and tried to get up. I knelt beside her, trying to help her, while holding her shoulders. "Are you all right?! What happened?"

She took a deep breath, her eyes wide. "They... did something to me. When that pressure started, I felt my body change... for a moment, I could see something. Something that shouldn't have been there..."

I felt my face contort with doubt. "What did you see?"

Laila looked directly into his eyes, and her expression was one of pure dread. "A shadow. No... a presence. As if something was watching everything from somewhere else. And, for a moment, I felt as if... as if something wanted to pull me to this place."

I could feel a shiver run down my spine. This situation was getting more and more dangerous.

Before he could say anything, the voice of the first stranger echoed behind him.

"Now you understand, don't you? This isn't just about you. It's about everything around you. What has been forgotten is beginning to emerge. And you're not ready for what's to come."

I stood up, putting myself between Laila and the stranger. Her eyes burned with determination. "So, if that's the case, I'll get ready. And when that moment comes... I'll be ready to face it."

The mysterious being just smiled. "Let's see if your words will carry weight when the real challenge comes." And with that, his presence vanished like a whisper in the wind.

I clenched my fists... that feeling... my heart was racing. Something big was coming. Something I still didn't fully understand.

But one thing was certain: he wouldn't let anything happen to those he loved. If a new challenge was coming, then he would train. He would get stronger.

He would face anything that tried to destroy his peace.
