Saiyan System (English)

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Echoes of a forgotten past

The world around Ikaris distorted into a whirlwind of colors and shadows. He felt as if he were being torn from reality and thrown into an unknown vacuum. His body became heavy, his mind clouded, and for a moment, everything disappeared.

Then, suddenly, he was on his feet.

But not where he was supposed to be.

The ground beneath his feet was as dark as obsidian, reflecting a purple light from the sky above. Or rather, what should have been the sky. Instead of stars, there were golden cracks that looked like tears in existence itself, like windows into an unknown world. Around them, colossal, distorted towers emerged from nowhere, as if they were fragments of a lost civilization.

Ikaris looked down at his hands. He was still there. He was still himself. But something was wrong. His body felt heavy, his energy unstable, as if something was trying to overpower him.

"What the fuck?" he muttered, trying to move.

A soft laugh echoed through the room.

"Interesting... you really resisted. That's rare."

Ikaris turned around abruptly.

The being who had brought him there was standing in front of him. But now, he looked different. Its silhouette flickered as if it wasn't completely solid. His pale skin seemed to glow faintly in the purple light, and his golden eyes burned with an intense glow.

"Where... where the hell am I?"

The being tilted its head, a small smile playing on its lips. "You're in a fragment of what's gone. An echo of something forgotten."

Ikaris felt a shiver run down his spine, again, an echo, this was the second time they'd talked about it today. "That doesn't mean anything to me. Bring me back. Now!"

The being laughed, crossing his arms. "Oh, but we're not in a hurry, are we? You need to understand before you can go back."

"Understand what?"

The being raised a hand, and suddenly the atmosphere around them changed. The darkness dissipated, and in its place, a landscape appeared.

It was a city. Or rather, the wreckage of one.

Colossal buildings lay in ruins, destroyed by unimaginable power. Roads cracked, towers crumbled and, in the sky, a crimson sun burned with a gloomy light.

And then Ikaris saw it.

Beings... not human. Humanoid creatures with dark skin and glowing eyes, shrouded in distorted energy. They moved among the wreckage, but not like invaders. They looked like... soldiers.

And, at the center of it all, a lone figure.

Someone who looked like him.

Messy hair, a Saiyan tail swaying gently, and a steady gaze as he stared at the army in front of him.

Ikaris felt his heart race.

"Is that... is that real?"

The being next to him nodded slowly. "It happened. Long before your existence."

"Who... who is he?"

The Saiyan figure moved, in the blink of an eye, his tail turned golden, and his hair became a vivid blond that seemed to blend with the energy around the figure, and then, he attacked. His body glowed in an instant, and he advanced against the enemy army. The impact of his blows was devastating. He moved like lightning, his punches and kicks shattering everything around him. Each time he struck, enemies fell in droves.

But then... something changed.

A shadow appeared behind him. Something big. Something immense.

A colossal presence emerged from the horizon, and Ikaris felt his throat go dry.

It was a being of pure black energy, with empty eyes and a cruel smile. He raised a hand, and an overwhelming force fell on the city, destroying everything in its path.

The Saiyan tried to resist, but was swallowed up by the darkness.

The world around him shook, and then everything returned to emptiness.

Ikaris gasped, feeling his heartbeat accelerate. His body trembled.

"What... what was that...?" He turned to the being next to him, his voice unsteady. "Was that... a past? A future?"

The being just watched him for a moment before answering.

"That was fate that has already happened. And what could happen again."

Ikaris felt a wave of conflicting emotions overwhelm him, what was that thing...?

"What does this have to do with me?!"

The being finally stepped forward, its eyes penetrating Ikaris'.

"You are a descendant of something that should never have been forgotten. You are the key to a cycle that has never been broken."

He raised his hand, and a slight pressure formed in the air.

"But you're not ready yet."

Before Ikaris could react, everything around him began to crumble. Space twisted, and he felt his body being pulled back.

The last thing he heard was the being's voice echoing in his mind.

"Awaken... before it's too late."

Awaken, again with the awakening, my God, he'd heard that word so much today that he felt like he was going mad!

And then everything went dark.

.....

The darkness around Ikaris dissipated like smoke being blown by the wind.

He felt his body suddenly heavy, as if he had been thrown back into reality. His lungs filled with air in a rush, and he gasped, feeling slightly dizzy. It took a few seconds for his vision to focus, but when it did, he realized that he was lying on the ground in the vacant lot.

Above him, Laila was kneeling, holding his shoulders tightly. Her eyes were wide with worry.

"Ikaris!" She called out, her voice filled with relief and despair at the same time. "Finally! Are you all right?"

He blinked a few times, trying to process everything that had just happened.

"Huh...?" His mind was still muddled. "What...?"

Laila squeezed his shoulders tighter. "You just... collapsed out of nowhere! I tried to call you, but you wouldn't answer. Your Ki was completely unstable for a few seconds! And... and... it was gone..." Laila spoke these last words with tears welling up in her eyes.

I closed my eyes for a moment, feeling my energy. It was still there, but it seemed... disorganized. As if she was trying to rebalance herself after what had happened.

That vision. That destroyed city. That Saiyan...

And that being of darkness.

He sat up slowly, rubbing his face with one hand. "How long have I been like this?"

Laila hesitated before answering. "Almost five minutes..."

He widened his eyes. "Five minutes?! That's it?"

"Yes!" She exclaimed, crossing her arms. "And I nearly pulled my own hair out trying to understand what was happening to you!"

Ikaris took a deep breath, trying to process. The time he had spent in that strange place seemed much longer than that.

So this wasn't a real place? Or... was it?

He looked down at his hands. He still felt that strange sensation inside him. Something that hadn't been there before.

The presence of that being still echoed in his mind.

"You're not ready yet."

Those words were engraved in his subconscious.

Laila watched him intently. "Ikaris... What happened to you?"

He was silent for a moment before finally answering. "I saw something."

"Something?"

He nodded slowly. "A destroyed city. Creatures... a Saiyan... and a gigantic thing. Something I've never seen before."

Laila's eyes narrowed. "And this Saiyan...?"

Ikaris clenched his fists. "He... looked like me. But older. Stronger. He fought against those beings... but in the end, he was consumed by that dark thing."

Laila frowned. "That sounds..." She hesitated, trying to find the right words. "A vision? A memory?"

"I don't know." Ikaris muttered. "But the being who took me there said that it has happened before... and it could happen again."

A heavy silence fell between the two of them.

So that was it? Something from the past was trying to repeat itself?

And Ikaris was the key to it?

She felt a shiver run up her spine.

Whatever was happening, it wasn't normal.

He stood up, still feeling his energy unstable. But deep down, something felt different. As if a part of him had been... unlocked.

Laila was still watching him with concern. "What now? What do we do?"

Ikaris took a deep breath. "Now... now we train."

Laila blinked. "What?"

He turned to her, his expression serious. "If what I saw is true, then we have no time to waste. I need to become stronger. You need to become stronger. We don't know when these things will come back, but when they do, I won't be unprepared."

Laila sighed, but nodded. "Okay... but before that, you're going to get some rest, because you nearly gave me a heart attack just now."

He laughed lightly. "Okay, okay."

But deep down, he knew.

Time was running out.

And something much bigger than he had imagined was about to happen.

"System, do an analysis of what happened to me"

[Ding]

[Analyzing...]

[Analysis completed]

[Host resurrection logs updated]

[System logs updated]

[World energy records updated]

[The host has developed the ability to absorb world energy, it is recommended to forward this energy to the system].

[With world energy the system can upgrade, bringing new functions]

[Detected that the host has world energy in his body, would you like to forward it to the system? Y/N]

I didn't even think for a moment, and chose option S, I didn't know what to do with this energy, I tried before, I can't even control it.

[Ding]

[Absorbing world energy]

[Upgrade Mission]

Absorb world energy - 5/1000

Rewards: System upgrade, 50,000pts

...............

He was now with Laila in her room, silence lingered between them, at this moment Laila was manipulating and training the energy inside her, apparently what those "Echoes" controlled was world energy, and being a pure human, she was now able to manipulate this energy too.

I did some tests absorbing world energy too, but it was like a passive skill, I wasn't able to speed up the process.

According to the system's calculations, I could absorb about two units a day, so the upgrade would have to wait.

Now he had his eye on two rewards that he had received a long time ago.

-Single access to the special store

-90% coupon

Looking at the amount of points he had, he nodded in satisfaction; it might not be enough, but the 90% coupon could help with that.

"System, open the special store, and use the 90% coupon on my first purchase!"

[Ding]

[Granting access to the Special Shop]

[Special Shop]

Kaio-Ken - 100,000pts -> 10,000pts

Kaio-Ken (Training) - 250,000pts -> 25,000

Divine Seed - 1,000,000 -> 100,000

Legendary Seed - 1.000.000 -> 100.000

Primitive Seed - 500,000 -> 50,000

Ultra Instinct Manual - 25,000,000 -> 2,500,000

Ultra Ego Manual - 25,000,000 -> 2,500,000

Major lineage evolution - 50,000 -> 5,000

Northern Kaioh Master - 75,000 -> 7,500

Master Daishinkan - 100,000,000 -> 10,000,000

Master Kami-Sama - 20,000 -> 2,000

Master Poppo (Abridged) - 200,000 -> 20,000

Jagan - 300.000 -> 30.000

Resurrection - 30,000 -> 3,000

A short list unfolded before my eyes, everything there was familiar to me, the only thing completely unknown was that Jagan guy, I had no idea what that was.

Looking at my points reserve. 28,450, I felt a little dissatisfied.

"System, what's the difference between this normal Kaio-Ken and the training one?" It really was a valid question, what the hell changes between these two that makes the price of one so absurd?!

[Ding]

[The Kaio-ken (Training) is a version of the Kaio-Ken created by the system exclusive to the special store, there is no increase in power using it, however its real effect is as the name says, for training, making your body slowly get used to the effects of the real technique, reducing to a minimum, or making disappear any tension that could be felt with the technique].

[In addition, because of the constant pressure exerted, it counts as passive training for your whole body, strengthening your muscles, organs and bones at the same time in order to adapt to the increase in power].

Okay, you'd expect something like that... but wait a minute, isn't that a bit BROKEN?!!! Now I understand why it's an item exclusive to the special store.

"System, I want to buy the Kaio-ken (Training)"

[Ding]

[Successful purchase, your items have been sent to your inventory].

And then I closed the special store, maybe forever...

Holy shit, I feel so stupid not to accumulate more points,

Looking at my remaining 3,450 points, I felt a little sad... I was poor...

Then I opened my inventory

[Inventory]

Seed of the gods - 8

Flight manual - 1

Kaio-ken (Training) - 1

Feeling a bit strange, I asked the system in my mind "Hey system, what can I do with this flight manual?"

[Ding]

[The host can use the flight manual to maximize his skill, since the host has already acquired it]

I see... if I get the skills, if I get a manual I'll be able to maximize them instantly, interesting...

Without wasting any time, I used the Flight Manual and the temporary Kaio-Ken. It was instantaneous, my mind cleared, and an incredible amount of information simply appeared in it.

Man, after a while it became so difficult to level up this skill...

Well, with nothing else to do, I lay down on the bed, ready to sleep.

However, I soon felt something holding my hand, it was Laila, she realized that I was going to sleep, apparently she was going to continue her meditation, but she wanted to hold my hand... very cute hehe.
