Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Night Attack

The Grass Village, the sole official military power within the Land of Grass, was established on an open plain. Surrounded by flatlands, it offered an expansive and unobstructed view.

The cloudy night sky slowly obscured the radiant moon, accompanied by a biting evening wind that crept across the plain. The darkness devoured the village, nestled in the center of the plain, inch by inch.

The plain was covered in ankle-high wild grass, rustling softly in the night wind.

In the stillness of the night, a cold glint suddenly flashed—a gleaming blade shattered the darkness and claimed a life. With a muffled thud, a Grass ninja wearing a forehead protector of Grass collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

Even in death, he never understood what had happened. His trembling hand reached toward the group that had appeared abruptly, as though seeking a chance for survival.

Under the dim moonlight, two glimmers of silver forehead protectors shone sharply in the night.

Konoha and Iwagakure...

Why? Why were Konoha and Iwagakure working together…?

Looking at the lifeless body of the Grass sentinel sprawled on the ground, Kurotsuchi glanced at the Uchiha youth beside her, who was trying to maintain a composed demeanor.

"Old man, we've taken care of all the Grass sentinels in this area."

Kurotsuchi spoke softly toward the rear.

Ōnoki stepped forward, his dark eyes falling on the ordinary-looking middle-aged man standing behind a pink-haired girl.

A man in his thirties from the Hyūga branch family.

His strength was comparable to that of a Chūnin at best.

If he weren't from the Hyūga clan, he would have been little more than cannon fodder.

Yet, it was precisely because of this one person that all the Grass Village sentinels in the area had been eliminated without a trace.

Eight hundred ninjas moved without a single alarm being raised…

And there were many more like this man in Konoha.

For the first time, Ōnoki truly appreciated the convenience of leading Konoha's forces into battle.

Besides that, among the eight hundred ninjas were members of the Aburame, Inuzuka, and the Ino–Shika–Chō clans.

So this is how Konoha fights its wars?

Although Ōnoki was reluctant to admit it, at this moment, he couldn't help but feel impressed.

So efficient.

They had sensors, medics, strong attackers, and supportive ninjas—all they could ever need.

Standing amidst the rustling plains, Ōnoki gazed toward the distant village, gradually swallowed by shadows, and waved his hand.

Figures emerged behind him and stealthily advanced toward the village bearing the Grass insignia on its gates, their movements concealed by the shadows.

The night wind swept through the elder's white beard as he watched his ninja close in on the shadow-draped village. Like a feather caught in the wind, he floated into the pitch-black night and disappeared.

Meanwhile, Sakura followed the main force while beckoning Kurotsuchi to her side.

Kurotsuchi pouted reluctantly, but recalling the pre-departure instructions, she grudgingly moved behind Sakura, wrapping her arms around the girl's waist before leaping into the air.

At the front of the group, Kakashi glanced back at the two disappearing into the night sky but said nothing, continuing forward. Upon nearing the Grass Village, he halted abruptly.

Kakashi gazed at the sentinels atop the Grass Village wall and swiftly gestured.

With Kakashi's signal, two Nara clan members with spiky hair quickly stepped forward and formed hand seals.

Shadow Neck Binding Technique!

Under the cover of darkness, their shadows stretched across the walls like snakes, ensnaring the four Grass sentinels and constricting their throats.

Kakashi's eyes sharpened as four shuriken shot through the air, striking the heads of the sentinels with deadly precision.

"Go!" Kakashi's sharp command spurred the squad into action as they charged toward the village.

However, as Kakashi approached the village, his expression shifted.

A sensory barrier?

The familiarity of the sensory barrier was uncanny—almost identical to Konoha's.

In that instant, Kakashi recalled Karin, who had been taken from the Grass ninja by Sakura.

That child had once belonged to Grass.

Grass Village's barriers were derived from the Uzumaki clan…

There was no time for further thought. Kakashi immediately ordered a full assault.

Just as he began to form seals for a jutsu to forcibly breach the gate, a pillar of glowing white light descended from the sky like a sword, splitting the night.

The light struck the Grass Village's gate, reducing it to rubble in an instant. A sweeping motion followed, obliterating large sections of the wall.

Dust Release!

Combining wind, earth, and fire chakra natures to transcend kekkei genkai—a kekkei tōta!

Kakashi looked up in shock at the small figure in the sky, standing with hands behind his back.

"Kakashi, it's time for us to go."

Beside him, Akatsuchi patted his shoulder nonchalantly.

"Let's move!" Kakashi adjusted his forehead protector to reveal his Sharingan and charged into the now-unobstructed village.

Behind him followed a horde of eight hundred ravenous ninja.

The silence of the night shattered the moment Kakashi's forces stormed into the Grass Village. Several red signal flares shot into the sky, accompanied by frantic cries.

"Enemy attack!"

"Enemy attack!"

"Level-One Alert!"

The Grass Village, a military stronghold of the Land of Grass, swiftly mobilized its defenses, engaging the invaders in fierce combat.

Small nations had their survival tactics—currying favor with powerful neighbors, often mocked as spineless opportunists.

Was this truly their desire?

No, it was merely the path they chose to keep war from consuming their homeland.

Yet at this moment, faced with invasion, they picked up their weapons, ready to fight to the death to defend their home.

The Grass Village's forces mobilized with determination, battling the intruders with all their might.

But as the fight progressed, cries of shock rang out.

"Konoha!"

"They're from Konoha!"

"Damn Konoha!"

Kakashi felt no pity. He had experienced far too much to be swayed by the sight before him.

At this moment, he was not the lazy, easygoing man who loved reading Make-Out Paradise.

Now, he was a ninja who had inherited his father's will.

In the Grass Village's main building, a man wearing a dragon-faced mask looked out at the burning village, his heart filled with rage. He shouted furiously to his subordinates:

"Kill them! Kill them all!"

"Kill those Konoha scum!"
