"But changing the subject… what are you reading?" I asked, trying to lighten the mood.
"Huh? Oh yeah! I'm trying to better understand how transfiguration from a match to a needle works since I couldn't completely transfigure it in class" Terry said as he showed us the page of the book he taught the spell.
"And I'm just reviewing the book for when we have Herbology class, as that's my favorite subject," Anthony said.
"I see... Well, I think it's good we get going, because I think it's almost dinnertime," I said as I launched a {Tempus}.
[17:58]
"I forgot to ask before, but what spell is this?" Terry asked me curious.
"It's the {Tempus} spell, it shows the exact time according to the time zone where you are. It's pretty simple to cast it," I replied to Terry. And then I gave a basic explanation of how to cast the spell, and after a few tries, they managed to cast the spell without any problem.
"Cool" Anthony said as he tossed {Tempus} into the air.
[18:02]
"I think we better go" Terry said after checking the time.
"Agreed," I said.
And we then packed our books in our bags and quickly left the library and headed towards the Great Hall for dinner.

With us already seated at the Ravenclaw table, the boys and I started talking about what we thought of our first day of school with some of our classmates and some older students, until Sophia Jenkins, our 6th Grade Prefect, who was sitting a few seats away, turned to me and spoke.
"I heard you got 40 points on your first day alone, Mr. Night. Congratulations!" Jenkins congratulated me somewhat in awe, "I don't think any first year got that many points on their first day. In fact...I don't think any student got that many points on their first day," she commented in an afterthought.
The other students around the table, who heard what Jenkins said, started looking at me in surprise and amazement.
"Thank you" I told her with a nod, "But that was mostly because I studied the subjects before" I finished with a shrug. And I could see out of the corner of my eyes Anthony and Terry looking at me skeptically.
"Well, that's still amazing and unheard of, at least for me," Jenkins said, still impressed.
"I think so too," said Andrew Phillips, a 5th Year Ravenclaw, "And if you keep earning points like that, we might have a better chance of winning the House Cup this year!" he said ecstatically.
"I can try... But I don't guarantee anything," I replied with a shrug.
"Fair enough," Phillips said with a nod.
As I was eating, I could feel someone looking at me, and turning towards that someone, I realized that the person looking at me was none other than Albus many names Dumbledore.
As I turned toward the Headmaster and looked at him, I could see surprise flicker in his eyes for a moment before being replaced by his calm gaze. The Headmaster then smiled his gentle grandfatherly smile and nodded at me, and I returned the nod with my own and smiled back at him.
'Hmm, Professor McGonagall must have talked about me to him too' I mused to myself, 'And I didn't feel any bad intentions coming from him. It just confirms the fact that he's not the evil Dumbledore'
"Ethan" I then heard Terry call, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Yes?" I questioned turning to him.
"We were debating what was the best class today. Mine was Transfiguration," said Terry.
"And mine was Charms," Anthony said, also giving his answer.
"Mine was Charms too"
"Mine was Transfiguration"
"Mine too"
"Mine was Charms, but Transfiguration comes close"
Then everyone started talking about their favorite classes, and the funniest thing is that not once were mentioned Potions or Defense Against the Dark Arts.
"Hmm..." I started to think, "I think my favorite class today was Transfiguration" I said after a while.
'Charms might have been a cool class, but I've known how to cast {Lumos} for a while, so there was nothing very impressive. But Transfiguration was more fun, as I think being able to turn one thing into another with a wave of a wand is much more complex and interesting.' I thought to myself, 'Perhaps this opinion of mine will change as classes go by, when Charms class is teaching more advanced spells'
"Hum! Looks like I wasn't the only one who preferred Transfiguration" Terry said looking at Anthony smugly.
"Your traitors!" Anthony exclaimed in mock indignation.
"Don't fight Anthony. Come and join the dark side" Deciding to play along, I said in my best rendition of a clichéd fifth-rate villain.
"Never!" Anthony bravely exclaimed, "How could you have chosen Transfiguration when you could have chosen the Charms class our Head of House teaches! This is a betrayal!" he kept talking while looking at us like we had cursed his mother.
"Stop being dramatic" Terry said rolling his eyes, "It's not like we didn't like the Charms class too, it's just that we just liked the Transfiguration class better."
"And I didn't even have a lot of choice, as out of the four classes, two of them were terrible," I reminded them.
"And just because the classes I was most excited to take were Defense Against the Dark Arts and Potions," Terry said regretfully.
"But that was the teachers' fault" Anthony said with a shrug, "If we had had different teachers, I don't doubt the classes would have been much better"
"Well, Potions the teacher is unlikely to change... But just wait for next year, and the DADA teacher will change" Grade 3 Felix Brunt, who overheard our conversation, said.
"Really? How do you know?" Terry asked curiously.
"I know because since I started studying here, no DADA teacher has stayed for more than a year" Brunt replied, and then he brought his body forward on the table and said in a whisper, like he was telling a big secret, "I say this because I heard that the Defense Against the Dark Arts class... is cursed!"
End.
