Saving the last phoenix from extinction [BL]

Chapter 5: A friend of your father

A loud knock sounded from the door and Yuki opened it revealing the broad shoulders of a man. The man had his back faced to him so he couldn't see his face.

"Hello, how may I help you?" he asked and the man remained motionless," sir? Excuse me?"

The man finally turned around the late morning sun shining on his features. The man had a lean, well built figure, his muscles evenly distributed across his body. The stranger had pale skin which was almost white, his long blue hair was slightly blown by the breeze giving him an ethereal look. The man looked at him and Yuki was drawn to his purple eyes which held some mysteriousness about them.

"Are you Yuki?" the man asked, his voice pleasing to the ears and Yuki nodded.

"And who are you sir?"

"My name is Qi, I am a friend of your father. He asked me to come here for you."

Yuki nodded and stepped aside inviting him into the house. Qi looked at the boy before him and sighed before walking into the house.

"Mr. Qi would you like anything to eat or drink?"

Qi sat on the chair and crossed his right leg over his left before focusing his gaze on the silver haired boy.

"Do you know how to prepare any of those things?" he asked and Yuki nervously rubbed the back of his neck.

"Honestly no. Mother won't allow me in the kitchen because she is afraid I might accidentally hurt myself."

Qi eyed him from head to toe.

Yuki was only as tall as Qi's chest with fair white skin. He had silver hair which rested on his shoulders. His eyes were also silver coloured- almost translucent with a blue hue.

Lowering his gaze down his body, Yuki's physique seemed weak and fragile.

"Mr. Qi? Is anything wrong?" he asked and Qi shook his head.

"Nothing."

Yuki," Okay then… I'll go get you a glass of water first."

Yuki disappeared into the kitchen and came back seconds later, a glass in hand. He handed Qi the glass and he wrapped his fingers around his tiny wrist.

Yuki was startled nearly dropping the glass, but he managed to steady himself.

"Hmm… your powers.." he raised his head and looked at him," Do you have any powers?"

"Well… I can make white roses grow," he said and Qi released his wrist and took the glass.

"I see."

Yuki hurriedly added," But dad said he'd teach me some tricks when am old enough."

Qi raised his brows," What tricks?"

Yuki's eyes lit up and he seemed interested in this topic. He sat cross legged by his feet and opened his palm ready to explain his father's tricks.

"Dad can make fire float over his hand. It's so cool! Mother said I would be allowed to learn later."

"It's just making fire. What's interesting about that?"

Yuki looked at him and Qi shook his head. Maybe making fire appear on a palm seemed interesting to the young kid.

"Hey kid, how old are you?"

"Hmm… am turning fifteen this year."

"Fifteen? And you can't even make fire?" he asked and Yuki shrunk back at his sudden scolding voice.

Qi saw him moving away and he rubbed his forehead," Just what has you father been teaching you? You're old enough to make flames of your own."

"No. Mother said am still young, when I turn twenty, I can practice making flames," he said and Qi looked at him.

Without a doubt, this child had inherited the stubbornness of the father. Qi rubbed his brows, stood up and headed towards the door and Yuki hurriedly followed him.

"Mr. Qi, what tricks can you do?" he asked curiously.

"Nothing. I can't do any tricks," he said and opened the door.

"What? Can't do tricks? All of father's friends can do something impressive," he said and Qi turned to him.

"Your father has 'friends'?"

"Of course. There's the doctor who can treat the sick and…" he rubbed the back of his head," wait. Father only has the doctor as his friend and now you.."

Qi," Your father has the doctor and I as his only friends. Apparently we are the unlucky ones who get to put up with him."

"Hmm? What do you mean?" he asked gazing at him with an innocent look.

"Seriously... forget it if you don't understand it."

Yuki nodded and Qi walked out of the door only to stop in his tracks.

"Is something wrong?" He asked and Qi's eyes scanned the area.

"Quick! Get back inside!"

"What? Why?"

Before he could respond, a dart shot through the air aiming for Yuki. Qi pushed Yuki out of the way, the dart sticking to the wooden pole of the house.

"What was that?" Yuki asked and Qi cussed silently.

"Get back inside!"

This time, Yuki nodded and got up from the ground and dashed into the house closing the door behind him. He walked to the window and watched Qi's back in front of the house.

Three other guys dressed in black cloaks walked out from the bushes and walked towards Qi.

Qi studied them and clenched his hands into fists, his veins showing on his skin.

"Oh? We missed," the guy at the front said.

"What do you want venturing this far?"

"Why? Is this your turf? No one told me," the man said.

"Leave while am asking nicely," Qi said and the men stopped a few feet from him.

"You would dare hurt us? Don't make me laugh."

Qi chuckled," And why shouldn't I dare hurt you? You're nothing but annoying pests, taking care of you wouldn't even use ten percent of my strength."

The leader grit his teeth in anger and Qi smiled," What do you say?"

The man huffed and whispered something to the men by his side and they nodded and surrounded Qi.

Qi walked back till his back rested on the hard door.

"Oh? Why are you backing away when you yourself said you could easily take care of us? Was all that just strong words?"

Qi smiled," Don't get too cocky now, I never said anything about retreating and I definitely will take care of you guys no problem."

With a flick of his fingers, a light blue flame appeared on his hand.

"Now, which one of you wants to be the first to meet their death?" He asked and the two men walking towards him hesitated.

The leader walked forward and removed his cloak revealing the black armour underneath.

"What are you afraid of? Our boss crafted this armour from dragon scales, this bastard can't hurt us."

Qi's fingers slightly trembled and the flame on his hand grew larger and larger, burning fiercely. He looked up and this time, the man who had arrogantly stepped to the front couldn't help but take a step back upon noticing his glare.

Qi's purple eyes burned with rage and a small light blue flame could be seen in his iris.

"I'll kill you three today!" He said and lunged forward.

Yuki who was watching from the window only saw a flash of light, seconds later the men screamed loudly and then everything went silent.

He watched Qi's back and in front of him, he spotted a pile of ash.

He rushed out of the house and ran towards Qi.

"Mr. Qi! I..."

Qi turned around staring at him and he stopped in his tracks once he saw the colour of his eyes.

"Mr. Qi? Are you okay?"

Qi looked at the boy before him, his face was pale and his eyes glowed brightly, a mixture of blue and purple.

With each step he took forward, Yuki took one back.

"You..."

In his state of rage, Qi could not differentiate the enemies from the friends and after dealing with the three, his attention was drawn to the innocent kid, his anger not fully quenched.

Qi grabbed his neck and lifted him from the ground. Yuki kicked his legs gasping for air as Qi's hand tightened around his neck.

"Mr.. Qi...it's... me..."

The flame in his eyes died down and his eyes turned to their original colour. Qi grabbed his forehead, his brows furrowed. He released Yuki and he fell to the ground gasping for air. Qi fell on his knees groaning in pain and Yuki, forgetting about the danger he was in seconds ago, rushed to his side.

"Mr. Qi, are you alright?"
