Chapter 259: Misunderstanding
"Junru Hotel?!" Lan Yudie panicked upon hearing this, forcing herself to calm down, "What did you see?"
"I saw everything!" Xiao Han snorted coldly, saying, "Actually, this has nothing to do with me. Where you went, what you did, it's none of my business. I just find such behavior particularly disgusting. Anyway, I'm leaving."
After speaking, Xiao Han turned and walked away.
Lan Yudie trembled all over, stifling a nameless rage that burned deep inside her.
"Stop!!" Suddenly, a hysterical roar erupted.
The hallway seemed to explode with the sound of thunder.
Xiao Han's steps halted at once, and he slowly turned around to see Lan Yudie a few meters away. Her angry eyes fixated on Xiao Han, to his shock, he saw tears brimming in her eyes—tears of injustice, anger, and hatred.
"I never thought that in your heart, I would be such a person," Lan Yudie cried bitterly.
Xiao Han was stunned. Indeed, he hadn't expected that his words would cause such severe harm to Lan Yudie. He was suddenly filled with regret, regret that he shouldn't have spoken those words, regret that he acted so impulsively, so offensively.
A woman's tears, a man's sin.
Xiao Han deeply felt that he had sinned, making a girl as delicate as a flower cry, was in itself an immoral act.
"I'm sorry, I..." Xiao Han finally lowered his proud head, then said, "I shouldn't have said that."
"No!" Lan Yudie glared at Xiao Han, biting back her words coldly, "I now realize that the shameful, vile, hateful woman you spoke of is me. Right?"
"I..." Xiao Han hesitated.
"You think I'm selling my body at Junru Hotel, you think I'm trading my soul, selling my youth, right?" Lan Yudie coldly questioned him, moving closer to Xiao Han as she spoke.
Lan Yudie stood in front of Xiao Han, deliberately suppressing her inner madness, her voice trembling, "Is this the 'me' in your heart? Right?"
"No!" Xiao Han shook his head urgently, explaining, "I was only..."
"Only what?" Lan Yudie scoffed, saying, "Just that you didn't put it harshly enough? Or just that you're frustrated you didn't catch any evidence?"
"No," Xiao Han said, head lowered.
"Enough!" Lan Yudie roared angrily, "Xiao Han, you will pay the price for what you said today!!"
After speaking, Lan Yudie strode away.
As Lan Yudie brushed past Xiao Han, he reached out to embrace her, and boldly pulled her into his arms. Holding her tightly, this was the boldest move Xiao Han had ever made—he had actually taken Lan Yudie into his arms, he had dared to embrace an angry lioness.
"Let me go!" Lan Yudie cursed angrily, "Weren't you calling me shameless? Didn't you label me a whore?!"
"No!" Xiao Han shook his head, saying, "It's just that I, who lack courage, happened to fall for you, who have it. The cowardly me could only chase after shadows. I cared too much for you, I shouldn't have spoken recklessly, making mountains out of molehills."
Lan Yudie, who intended to erupt in anger, was rendered speechless by Xiao Han's confession. She looked at Xiao Han dumbfounded, tears still hanging from the corners of her eyes, her face bearing the remnants of her fierceness. What kind of expression should this be? A mix of crying and laughing? Of indecision?!
"You..." Lan Yudie stared blankly at Xiao Han.
"Yes, I've fallen for you," Xiao Han gathered his courage to confess, in this moment, he could only choose to bare it all. That night at the hotel, seeing Lan Yudie dining with Qin Jun, he felt a stabbing pain in his heart. From that moment, he realized how aggrieved he felt as a man. Indeed, men have the genes of lowly apes, desiring a harem of concubines.
But this is a legal society, the society of a republic, allowing only monogamous marriage.
"You... You're talking nonsense!" Lan Yudie suddenly snapped awake, saying, "Don't think you can deceive my forgiveness with this method!"
Upon hearing this, Xiao Han decisively leaned in for a kiss.
Caught off guard, Lan Yudie found herself in the full force of Xiao Han's surprise attack, as he gently bit her tender tongue. There they were, kissing passionately in the hallway of the academic building, thankful that no one was around in the arts department building at night, otherwise, if someone had seen them, their pictures would probably be splashed all over the campus forum.
Lan Yudie found herself kissed by Xiao Han, wanting to resist, but with Xiao Han's tall and sturdy form holding her so firmly, she had no strength to fight back. At last, they kissed each other frantically, with exceptional intensity. Lan Yudie stopped resisting, instead matching Xiao Han's fiery enthusiasm in the kiss.
This fervent, passionate kiss lasted a full five minutes.
Lan Yudie felt as though she was about to get blisters on her tongue, her lips sore and swollen from Xiao Han's kisses.
She pushed Xiao Han away, scoffing, "Men are nothing but creatures of lip service. Their love declarations are just meant to satisfy the desires of that thing in their pants, right?"
"Uh..." Xiao Han was at a loss for words.
"Forget it," Lan Yudie smiled faintly, saying, "Given how lowly you think of me, how could you ever fall for me?"
With that, Lan Yudie turned and left. This time, Xiao Han didn't stop her. He had spoken the words in his heart, and no matter what the outcome was, he wouldn't regret it. If he hadn't spoken out today, that would have been the true pain.
Those meant to leave will ultimately go, and those who don't will always stay.
No one belongs to anyone. I love you, and that's my right, what does it have to do with you?

Xiao Han returned to the dormitory with a face full of melancholy.
"Damn, Xiao Han, why the long face again?" Liu Bin looked at Xiao Han in surprise.
"You didn't get dumped, did you?" Zhang Dagou asked, "You better not be thinking about anything foolish. Whatever's troubling you, just tell us brothers and we'll definitely help you out."
"It's nothing!" Xiao Han shook his head.
"Really nothing?" Zhang Feng asked.
"Nothing." Xiao Han smiled faintly then asked, "I'm offering to buy you guys a drink, anyone up for it?"
"Hell yeah." Zhang Dagou's ears perked up and he slapped his thigh, exclaiming, "Damn, it's been a while since we had a blast like the last time."
"Let's go, time for drinks!" Xiao Han gestured with a wave of his hand.
Liu Bin showed a gloomy face, still reeling from the last time they drank until the room spun, and here they were, going to drink again. Still, there was no opting out with the dorm acting in unity. In the end, Liu Bin followed too.
The group found a barbecue stall outside the campus and got a few crates of beer. Chowing down on skewers and guzzling beer, they were having a blast.
Outside the campus there was a crowd, with many people indulging in drinks.
That night, Xiao Han was intent on drowning his sorrows. Bottle after bottle, there was no stopping him.
"Bro, bro, take it easy on the drinks," Liu Bin, wearing a duckbill cap and dressed in black clothes, suggested with a hint of Korean fashion.
"Xiao Han, you should slow down," Zhang Dagou also urged.
Not even half an hour passed, and that kid Xiao Han had polished off a crate of beer. Holy crap, was his drinking pace a bit too fast? Not even an immortal could handle that, let alone a mere mortal!
"I'm fine, a little beer can't bring me down," Xiao Han laughed.
Zhang Dagou's mouth curved into a smile, saying, "I knew you could hold your liquor. Seeing is believing today; you're badass."
In the end, Xiao Han alone had downed two crates of beer and was feeling dizzy. Although it was just beer, drinking so much so fast definitely left its mark due to the alcohol. Liu Bin was a mess, vomiting everywhere; the guy had only six bottles and was completely out of it.
Zhang Dagou was supporting Liu Bin, and Zhang Feng was assisting Xiao Han.
"Damn, are you blind?" A staggering Liu Bin suddenly bumped into a man and stepped on the guy's leather shoes, leaving an unmistakable scuff mark. The man's face turned livid as he said, "Are you blind? Believe it or not, I'll hit you."
"Sorry, so sorry!" Zhang Dagou quickly apologized.
"Damn it, just bought these shoes today, eight hundred bucks, you should pay up," the man said, exploiting his larger group to extort them.
"This…" Zhang Dagou was taken aback.
"Just give him ten bucks to get them cleaned outside, right?" Zhang Feng retorted.
"Ten bucks, are you f***ing kidding me, like I'm a beggar?" the man scoffed coldly, "Damn, are you looking for trouble?"
As he spoke, the man threw a punch. Zhang Feng, a martial artist, dodged with ease.
...Ugh...
At that moment, Liu Bin, bending over, began to vomit. A torrent of filth suddenly splashed on the man's leather shoes, and the stench forcefully seeped inside.
"F***!" The man became furious in an instant. He raised his foot and viciously kicked towards Liu Bin.
Zhang Feng, quick and alert, immediately pulled Zhang Feng away from the attack.
"Damn, you asking for it!" The man roared, "Guys, beat them up!"
There were seven or eight of them, all looking like they were upperclassmen. Moreover, judging by their demeanor—tall and muscular—I'd bet they were students from the Physical Education Department. They were mostly around 1.8 meters tall, with strong builds and faces that carried a certain fierceness.
"What do we do?" Zhang Dagou looked anxiously to Zhang Feng.
Zhang Feng being a martial artist, Zhang Dagou wanted his opinion. If Zhang Feng said to fight, that meant he was 80% confident they could win. If Zhang Feng suggested to run, it meant he had no confidence. Zhang Feng hesitated too. There were seven or eight of them, each with apparent strength, and the worst part was that they were all tough.
Although Zhang Dagou seemed big and tall, his combat power was unknown. Xiao Han's strength was on par with his own, and taking on seven or eight guys seemed a bit tricky.
