Chapter 17: Chapter 17
Buying Nephis clothing that would be suitable to fight in was a tiring affair, every piece of clothing that Sunny had scanned through had either been too revealing or clung to her body in ways that only he felt comfortable seeing. Thats's why he had simply handed her the most convenient piece of clothing.
A sports bra and some joggers. Nephis had been spending her day trying out each piece of clothing studying Sunny's reaction to each of them, it appeared that latex bodysuits were extremely off limits as upon seeing them she had to rush to Sunny's side to stop him from passing out.
Thankfully, his final option had managed to balance the freedom offered by bodysuits as well as the modesty that regular clothing offered. Now, the two of them found themselves in an extremely secluded forest. It had taken them a while to even find the place, Nephis herself had to scroll through google maps for minutes on end to even realise that she lived near a forest, but the surprise was a welcome one.
Currently, she was looking up at Sunny who lazily hung downward from a tree branch. His feet were coiled around the branch as his hair fell downward loosely, allowing Nephis to be in arms reach of it. She almost reached out her hand to run it through his hair, yet she felt a strange sense of apprehension after the two had slept together.
The intimate moment they shared struck feelings within the two that neither knew they had. Nephis found herself inclined to do more bold actions toward Sunny whereas he found himself feeling far shyer around her. Currently though, she was being prepared for whatever training regimen Sunny had planned for her.
Finally coming to a decision, Sunny dropped from the tree before rummaging through a bag that he had brought only a few moments ago. From it, there were five extremely large sacks of clothing designed to contain large amounts of whatever was poured into it.
"I'm going to fill these up with sand, roughly that should be ten kilograms, I think. I'll be wearing the thirty-kilogram ones to join you." Nephis eyes widened at the weight. Sunny was planning something that she didn't want to even bother imagining. In a few moments, Sunny was dragging the two sacks full of sand in each of his hands before placing them next to Nephis.
"You don't plan on making me carry that right?" Nephis asked, Sunny merely cocked his head to the side with an innocent smile before scratching the back of his head. "I've always been trained through fighting, but I don't really want to hurt you so this is all I can think of. I'm sorry if it's too much."
The innocence in his tone lit a fire in Nephis as she wordlessly made her way toward the sack before lifting it up with a grunt and placing it on her back. Its weight was monumental, she had never been forced to move with ten kilograms on her body in her life! Although basic exercise was necessary to maintain her figure, this was extreme!
Pointing toward a large pile of rocks, Sunny moved toward her before wrapping his arms around her waist to adjust the bag. The feeling of his body pressed against hers caused the two to blush as he quickly separated himself from her.
"It's simple really, I'm going to sit on the pile of rocks to watch you for a bit. And all you need to do is climb this tree as quickly as possible forty times. I've even made indents into the bark for you to grab onto!"
She hadn't even noticed the sharp rock he held in his left hand that had been used to make the indents. Levelling a tired glare at him, Nephis made her way toward the tree before gripping onto the first indent. They were large enough to fit her hands and feet into while also being small enough for her to accurately grip onto.
'He's so considerate' she thought to herself with a smile as she slowly pulled herself upward. The tree was seventy feet tall, yet the indents only went as far as thirty feet which Sunny had assumed to be her limit. Falling downward and its consequences had graced her mind, threatening to throw off her focus however Nephis gritted her teeth and climbed anyway.
'Sunny wouldn't let that happen.' The look on his face as he laid indifferently in a puddle on his own blood fuelled her with rage which quickly turned into motivation as she pulled herself up the tree.
At first, she was slow, but quickly she grew faster as she tore her way upward. Finally, she had reached the top. Looking backward, Sunny was nowhere to be seen. Terror quickly claimed her mind as she feared for the worst however his onyx locks quickly coming into view soothed her mind.
Sunny was standing on a tree branch opposite her, each of his muscles tensed to it's limit as he prepared himself to leap after her and catch her should anything go wrong. The expression of terror on her face forced him to break his silence as he offered her words of encouragement.
"You're doing so well Neph; I'm here for you. You don't need to think of anything else except climbing downward." The alternate implications of Sunny's words flashed through her mind as her face shot red. Yet she didn't speak further, instead, she quickly moved downward.
As she reached the final steps, Sunny's arms snaked around her waist as he gently pulled her downward with relative ease. He was carrying her entire bodyweight with ten kilograms added on top of it and yet he didn't seem tired in the slightest. How he had managed to get down a thirty-foot drop so quickly and silently was beyond her.
Holding her firmly in his arms, Sunny laid her gently to the floor and hastily pulled the weights off her shoulders. Nephis had pushed her body to the limit without even realising it, the weight that slid off her shoulders hit the ground with a thud as she struggled to remain standing.
Sunny held her against the bark of the tree to keep her upright, studying her form as sweat poured from her body. The light of the sun bouncing off her form almost made Nephis look like an angel that was being embraced in the hands of a humble shadow.
Looking downward, Sunny took in the sight of her lean abs as his face flushed red, he hadn't even noticed how long he had been staring at them before a cough from Nephis tore him from his thoughts. "I'm still here you know?" her face was flushed red from the attention as Sunny moved backward.
Yet, like she had many times before Nephis didn't let him. Snaking her arm around his head she pulled him into a deep hug before separating. "Shit, I got you all sweaty now." Sunny merely smiled in response before shrugging "I was going to get sweaty anyway." Rest for a little while I train, let me know when you're ready to go again.
Handing her a flask of water, he watched her drink greedily for a moment before putting two twenty-kilogram weights on his back. Their positioning looked awkward yet felt extremely comfortable on Sunny's back as he turned away from Nephis.
After gaining considerable distance, he began running through a set of kicks and punches. The fighting styles that Gilead had ingrained into his body quickly flowing back into his mind, yet his body refused to follow as intended. Painting a beautiful arc in the air, Sunny grunted in frustration as he followed up with another spinning kick.
An elbow pierced through the air onto his invisible opponent as it collided with where an enemy's ribs would have been. Then, shifting his weight another elbow flew through the air as it collided with where a collarbone would have been located. "Shit, when did I allow myself to get so damn slow."
Dropping to the floor, his body became a blur as he repeated sets of push ups over and over until he felt his muscles burn. His speed was returning to him, slowly but surely. "More, more, faster, faster!" He exclaimed to himself. Suddenly, a shadow appeared over his head, Sunny didn't have time to twist his body as Nephis planted her weight across his back.
Falling to the ground with a thud, Sunny's face burned red as he turned around to look at Nephis who wore a sly smile across her face, she was holding herself back from laughter. "Sorry, sorry I couldn't help myself when you were grunting 'Faster, faster' in silence as you pushed off the floor."
Sunny's lips turned upward in a smile as he shifted his hands from beneath her before placing them over his face to hide his embarrassment. Nephis shifted her weight, sweat cascading from her face onto Sunny's as she pried his hands away from his face to stare down at him.
His eyes were filled with embarrassment, passion and a slight hint of what could only be identified as...fear. Lowering her face down towards his, their breathes beat against one another as their noses were so close they almost touched. Nephis didn't know what she was doing when she lowered herself downward. But Sunny did.
Twisting his head to the side, he narrowly avoided the kiss before looking up at Nephis with a guilty expression. "I'm dirty, you shouldn't do this with someone like me. I'm not innocent, I'm a killer for gods sake! You have everything good ahead of you don't ruin it by going this far with someone like me."
Tears cascaded from Sunny's eyes as he blinked them away, Nephis expression became unreadable as she moved her hands away from his own and up to his face. Wiping his tears away from his eyes she offered him a small smile.
"I don't care if you aren't innocent, I don't care who you've killed. It wasn't your fault; nobody could have gone through what you did and remained the same. Yet here you are, being amazing and making sides of me come out that nobody else has. Sunny, you stayed alive, there is nobody who can fault you for doing that."
As she spoke, Nephis slowly lowered herself down onto Sunny once more. This time, he didn't resist. Fear had been banished from his eyes for the briefest of moments as Nephis captured his lips in her own. Fire tore its way through Sunny's body as he felt himself shiver in joy.
It was nothing like the forced kisses Morgan gave him, it was invasive yet welcome. Sunny's hand shifted as he grasped Nephis by the back of her head and deepened the kiss, unspoken messages being relayed through their show of intimacy. Unfortunately, the two needed air, forcing them to separate as Nephis rolled off him and rested on her back.
Sunny's hand grasped hers firmly as he smiled at her, she was staring blankly into the sky with thoughts bursting through her mind that Sunny would never be made aware of. And for the first time in a while, Sunny allowed himself to hope once more.
Maybe if it was with her, he could finally take down Valor.
