As Maya and her crew disappeared into the distance, Bai Yu Xuan rested his right hand on the hilt of the Wushuang Taidao, his expression calm yet solemn.
The next phase was the real trouble.
These floating islands—weightless, fragmented remnants of the Golden Lion's ability—varied in size and mass. To destroy them all completely would be nearly impossible.
He could only calculate a proper trajectory and minimize collateral damage to the islanders below.
"I should've let him keep rambling until he passed out…"
Bai Yu sighed softly, eyes drifting back to the cleaved corpse of Shiki the Golden Lion.
He hadn't planned on killing him.
Bai Yu had intended a swift but clean battle, but Shiki's inability to withstand his Twelve Consecutive Slashes had forced the outcome.
Especially that final strike—its speed and power were beyond control.
Even Bai Yu couldn't fully withdraw the blow after committing. That was the nature of his "Twelvefold Gathering Slash" technique:
You either hold back completely, or you release all twelve in a fatal chain.
A killing move by design—meant to eliminate the enemy in one burst.
"No point overthinking it now," Bai Yu muttered, consoling himself.
Kenbunshoku Haki – Observation!
Hum!
In the next instant, Bai Yu's mind surged as a wave of Observation Haki radiated outward. He instantly calculated the descending trajectory of the floating islands, identifying those that posed a threat.
"Geppo!"
Launching into the sky using Moonwalk, Bai Yu hovered high in the air, scanning the area.
The pirates scattered across the battlefield—many of whom had already been knocked unconscious by his earlier blast of Haoshoku Haki—were the least of his concerns.
If the islands fell, they'd be buried.
Any survivors would be handled later by the 188th Marine Branch that had accompanied him here.
Buzz… buzz…
While contemplating where to begin his operation, Bai Yu's Observation Haki suddenly fed back a powerful signal.
Multiple presences—formidable and fast—were rapidly approaching.
One in particular felt especially familiar.
The corner of Bai Yu's lips lifted faintly.
He dropped back to the ground just as the wind howled.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
In an instant, three figures appeared before him, cutting through the air like projectiles.
Admiral Aokiji (Kuzan).
Admiral Kizaru (Borsalino).
And finally—
His nominal master, the Hero of the Marines, Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp.
At this critical moment, two Admirals and Garp had arrived on the battlefield.
The three Marines quickly assessed the area—starting with Bai Yu, then shifting their gaze to the fallen pirates strewn across the earth.
Finally, their eyes settled on the mangled body of the Golden Lion—split cleanly in half.
Shock flickered across their faces.
"You brat!" Garp bellowed. "I only told you to stall Shiki…"
"You actually—killed him?!"
But Garp's tone wasn't one of reprimand.
It was admiration—surprise coated in pride.
"No choice," Bai Yu replied with a shrug. "Trying to capture someone from the old era like him alive… it's almost impossible."
So he confessed without hesitation.
Hearing Bai Yu admit outright that he had defeated Shiki, Aokiji raised an eyebrow. Kizaru's expression twisted slightly—surprise giving way to something else.
Unease.
He had crossed Bai Yu before—and if Bai Yu could now take down someone like Golden Lion Shiki, there was no doubt…
He could take him down too.
Worse still, Bai Yu showed no signs of injury.
Clearly, his strength had increased significantly since their last battle.
Aokiji, meanwhile, studied Bai Yu silently—his eyes sharp and thoughtful.
"Wahahahaha!" Garp suddenly burst out laughing.
"Good, good, good!"
His laughter echoed as he slapped his thigh.
"These old-era pirates threatening the world deserve exactly this! You did well, brat!"
"You've really grown."
Garp's pride was obvious.
"One day soon, I'll test your strength myself."
"Hmph. Old man, how many troops did you bring?" Bai Yu rolled his eyes before asking.
"You see it too—Shiki's gone. But these sky islands are another issue."
"They could cause serious damage."
"Relax," Garp replied quickly.
"Before landing, I had my men start evacuating the surrounding islands."
"We managed to clear most of them—except for one small island beneath this floating mass. We got there too late."
It was exactly why Garp and the others had come here personally.
Knowing Shiki's Fuwa Fuwa no Mi (Float-Float Fruit) powers, Marine HQ had mobilized considerable force.
But there hadn't been time to save everyone.
"You took Shiki down. Now tell us your plan—we'll follow your lead," Garp said seriously.
At this, Bai Yu's eyes lit up.
He glanced meaningfully toward Kizaru.
"If anyone has a problem with that," Garp added, his tone mock-stern, "just let me know. I'd love to see who's got that kind of death wish."
"…."
Kizaru was speechless at the Garp-Bai Yu duo.
"I… I've got no objections," Kizaru said with forced calm.
Aokiji simply nodded.
With both Admirals in agreement, Bai Yu's lips curled slightly.
This was rare indeed.
To command not just two Admirals, but the Hero of the Marines himself?
If word of this spread, no one would believe it.
But this wasn't time for daydreaming.
It was time for strategy.
"Here's what I'm thinking," Bai Yu began, "Aokiji, I need you to freeze both the top and bottom of the island's center. Create a structural point we can target."
"Old man Garp, you go to the island's peak and hit the frozen center with everything you've got. A clean strike."
"Kizaru, you'll be responsible for widespread destruction along the island's edges. Fast and clean."
"I'll stay underneath—cutting apart any fragments that slip through, preventing them from crashing onto the small island below."
Bai Yu laid the plan out clearly.
The three veterans went silent for a moment, processing.
Then Garp nodded first.
"Sounds solid to me. With Aokiji's ice locking the core, I can smash through cleanly. Good thinking."
Even though Kizaru's role was clearly the most mundane, Garp didn't seem concerned.
"I agree," Aokiji said simply.
"…I agree," Kizaru muttered with a resigned expression.
He couldn't refuse—not when the others had already accepted.
"Alright then," Bai Yu said, clapping his hands.
"Let's move."
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The four of them launched into action.
Each soared off in a different direction, heading toward their assigned locations across the sky island.
Since Bai Yu and Kizaru were both responsible for the underside, they moved together—leaping down toward the small island at the base.
Golden light surged around Kizaru's body as he activated his Pika Pika no Mi (Glint-Glint Fruit) power.
His form dissolved into beams of radiant light, blinking rapidly across the sky toward his position.
