Chapter 4: CHAPTER 4

After a formal meeting between Jay Mahendra and Zevana yesterday, Zevana finally decided to ask her father to be given more time to get closer to Jay. Both Zevana's father and Jay's father agreed to the request.

---

Jay knocked on the door of Zevana's room in the Mahendra family home.

"Zev, can I come in?" he asked cautiously.

Zevana who was sitting on the small sofa in the corner of the room just glanced at the door. "Just come in. What's wrong?"

Jay opened the door slowly. In his hand, he carried a tray with a bowl of chicken soup and a glass of water.

"Have you eaten? I made chicken soup, it's quite a mood booster."

Zevana raised an eyebrow, half surprised. "You cooked? Seriously? Then it's true that my father said you like cooking. Or maybe you bought this soup, but you said you cooked it? Hahaha, it's like a soap opera," Zevana said.

Jay chuckled as he placed the tray on the table in front of Zevana. "Yes, seriously. I did the cooking. If you don't believe me, try it first. But don't blame me if you suddenly fall in love with my cooking."

Zevana snorted, smiling slightly as she tried to hide her nausea. She then picked up the spoon and tasted the first bite.

"Hmm, not too bad. I'd give it a 75," she muttered softly.

Jay smiled widely. "Not too bad? You should say it's really good, honey!"

UHUK!!!

Zevana choked because what Jay said was true.

"Sorry... sorry. What's wrong with you? Drink first," Jay said swiftly as he handed over a glass of water and gently wiped Zevana's lips on the soup residue.

They both looked at each other.

"You are beautiful... very beautiful," Jay said softly.

Zevana gently brushed away Jay's hand and immediately turned her face away in embarrassment.

"Ah... what a flirt. My face is market, you know," said Zevana.

"Yes, market in the global market for sure," Jay teased.

"Ih, how annoying are you!" said Zevana annoyed while pinching Jay's arm.

Jay took the opportunity to grab Zevana's hand and said, "I'm serious. You are beautiful. I've liked you since I first saw your picture on my dad's cell phone. But it's just like, not love."

"Hiii... who would have thought that far ahead?" Zevana replied, while Jay smiled and gently stroked her hair.

Jay then sat on the chair across from Zevana while watching her. "I will be satisfied if you finish your food. Don't starve yourself, and your father will blame me."

At midnight, when it was getting quiet, Jay invited Zevana to sit on the balcony of the villa to enjoy the fresh air.

"Zev, do you feel comfortable with me?" Jay asked suddenly.

Zevana paused before answering. "Jay, to be honest, even though you are a rich man's son, you are very kind. I never thought you would care about me this much."

"But?" Jay looked at her seriously.

"But I still need time," Zevana replied quietly. "I'm still trying to understand everything. Especially since it all happened so suddenly for me."

Jay nodded, though there was a hint of disappointment in his eyes. "I understand, sweetheart. I won't force you to feel the way I do. But I promise, I will always be there for you, whenever you need me."

Zevana smiled slightly. Jay's words really touched her heart.

That night, Zevana slept with mixed feelings. She was starting to feel comfortable with Jay, but she knew this relationship would not be as easy as Jay thought. There was a baby in her womb, and Jay didn't know it yet.
