Delivering the Souvenir - Part 1
After being taught about something called “Constitution Force” by Seras and continuing our talk, Seras eventually said, “It’s almost morning,” and my consciousness faded to black.
“...Nnh.”
Even after waking up, the excitement from what I'd learned in the dream hadn't settled. Normally, I would check my messages first, but today I immediately got out of bed and headed for the sink.
“Constitution Force, huh… Hmm?”
As I stood in front of the bathroom mirror, about to wash my face, the haze in my head suddenly cleared all at once.
“...I’m back.”
Now that I think about it, I can't even remember why I thought to meet Seras in that dream in the first place—I'd completely forgotten my goal. Just as I muttered, the reflection staring back at me in the mirror was my own. Not Seras’s.
Looking at myself again, I saw the usual me—not the girl I’d been yesterday. My body was slightly larger than average for someone my age, my chest was flat… and the parts that had disappeared had all returned. Thank goodness—Seras must’ve properly put everything back.
“...Thank you.”
“Yup, and good morning.”
When I whispered that inwardly, a slightly sleepy voice from Seras responded inside me. It was rare to hear her sound like this, and I couldn’t help but chuckle a little. She’d said she hadn’t slept freely in a long time.
Well, in any case… I should hurry and get ready and tell Mom and the others that I’m back. When I had changed like that, I honestly thought I might never go back to normal. I’m really glad everything’s fine after just a day.
“I truly am sorry about that.”
No, it’s okay. It got resolved pretty quickly, and I was the one who said she could use my body freely in the first place. …Alright, time to wash my face and go /N_o_v_e_l_i_g_h_t/ see my mom.
As I chatted casually with Seras, I washed my face quickly. Seeing the women’s clothes Mom must’ve set out for me made me feel a little conflicted, so I went to the dresser where my usual clothes were stored and got dressed in my own outfit. Seeing myself in my familiar appearance in the mirror made me genuinely happy. I headed to the kitchen, where I assumed Mom was making breakfast.
Usually by this time, Mom would be setting the breakfast table. But since I’d woken up a little early, she was still putting the used dishes from Dad’s meal into the dishwasher. I slowly approached as she moved about, checking the time.
“Morning, Mom.”
“Good morning, Aoi. You’re up early to—huh?”
Mom turned around to look at me—and froze in place, still holding the dishes. Then, almost throwing them aside, she rushed over to me. With slightly wet hands, she cupped my face and stared into my eyes.
“You’re… Aoi, right? You’re not Seras-chan in Aoi’s body again, are you?”
“Haha… yeah, it’s really me. Aoi.”
“Oh thank goodness…!”
“Yeah. Also, Mom… your hands are a little cold.”
“Oh! Sorry about that!”
She laughed in relief and happily flitted around preparing my breakfast. As she put away the dishes and cooking utensils, she muttered to herself, “I guess I should sort out Seras-chan’s clothes, too…”
Then, as if remembering something, she turned back to me.
“Come to think of it, Aoi—you’re up early today. Do you have plans?”
“Huh? I thought there was school toda—wait.”
Prompted by her question, I checked the calendar and saw that today was a holiday. With everything that had happened yesterday, I’d completely forgotten. That’s right… yesterday was Friday.
“Hehe, I figured. Yesterday must’ve been a lot, huh? Why don’t you take it easy today or go out for a change of pace?”
“…Yeah, looks like I will. Thanks, Mom.”
While chatting with Mom, I started eating the breakfast she’d made and checked the news and my messages. As I scrolled through, I spotted a familiar message thread.
“Ah… I still haven’t gone, have I?”
Looking at the conversation history, I remembered the famous Kyoto textile souvenir I’d left in my room.
