Chapter 9: Day Three (Part-4) The Vanishing Truth
Ronnie lay on his bed, trying to rest, but his mind wouldn't let him. A lingering doubt crept into his thoughts.
Just now, when that girl and I crossed paths… I saw something, didn't I?
At the time, he hadn't paid attention—his mind had been too caught up in Arya's dream. But now, the memory played back in his head.
She looked scared. Terrified, even.
Why? What was she afraid of?
Ronnie sat up, running a hand through his hair. Was he overthinking? Maybe she was just in a hurry.
But still…
He liked her. He didn't even know her name, and they had never spoken. But something about the fear in her eyes made his chest tighten.
Should I go check?
He hesitated, but then Arya's words echoed in his mind.
Whether we know them or not, whether they are a friend or an enemy—if someone needs help, we should help.
Ronnie clenched his fists.
That's right.
He couldn't just ignore it.
Ronnie walked out of his room, still thinking about the girl he had seen earlier. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Was he overthinking it, or was there something wrong? He decided to check on her and make sure she was okay.
He walked to the stairs and headed up to the fifth floor. His heart raced as he approached her room. When he reached the door, he hesitated for a moment, unsure if he should knock. He took a deep breath to calm himself, then knocked gently on the door.
The door creaked open, but it wasn't fully closed. Ronnie pushed the door slightly further, scanning the room. To his surprise, the room was empty.
Confused and a little uneasy, he stepped back out into the hallway. Just then, he saw a nurse walking by. He quickly called out to her.
"Hey, did you see the girl who was in this room earlier?"
The nurse turned toward him and answered, "That girl? She checked out a little while ago."
Ronnie frowned, feeling a strange sense of unease. "Do you know her name?"
The nurse shook her head. "Sorry, I don't. But the other nurse who was in charge of this room might know her. You can try asking her."
Ronnie nodded and immediately rushed toward the stairs, determined to get to the bottom of this.
Arya woke up, feeling a bit weak. He tried to stand, but as he did, his hand accidentally knocked over the side table. The crash echoed in the silent room. He quickly bent down to pick it up, but as he lifted the table back, his eyes caught something underneath— a letter.
Curious, he picked it up and sat on his bed. As he opened the envelope, a thought crossed his mind. Is this from Hina? Or Ronnie? But as he read through the letter, his expression suddenly changed. His eyes widened in shock.
He immediately stood up, his heart pounding. He needed to tell someone. He thought of calling, but he didn't have his phone. He considered telling the doctor, but they wouldn't allow him to move too much because of his condition. So, he made up his mind—he had to find Ronnie.
Arya carefully peeked outside his room. A nurse was still in the hallway. He waited until she left before slipping out. The hallway was empty now. Without wasting time, he rushed toward the elevator. He pressed the button for the fourth floor and waited anxiously.
Meanwhile, on the other side—
Ronnie was taking the stairs down, heading to find the nurse in charge of the girl's room. He entered the nurse's office, but she wasn't there. He turned to another nurse and asked, "Where is she?"
"She went out of the hospital. She'll be back later," the nurse replied.
Ronnie sighed in frustration. I don't have time to wait. He needed answers. He quickly decided to check the doctor's office. But when he got there, the room was empty.
Then it hit him—At this time, the doctor must be checking on the patients.
Just then, another thought came rushing into his mind—Arya! I should tell him. Maybe he knows something.
Without hesitation, Ronnie turned and sprinted toward Arya's room.
At the same time, Arya reached the fourth floor.
The elevator doors opened, and he walked straight to Ronnie's room. He reached for the handle, but it was locked from the outside. Ronnie wasn't there.
Back downstairs, Ronnie finally reached Arya's room.
He pushed the door open—empty. Arya was gone.
Ronnie froze for a second, his mind racing. "What's happening…? First, that girl disappeared. And now Arya?
Ronnie left Arya's room, his mind racing. Where could he be now? Then a thought struck him—Maybe he went back to his room on the 5th floor. I need to get there before he goes somewhere else.
He hurried toward the elevator and pressed the button, but the lift was still on the upper floors. He tapped his foot impatiently, then decided he couldn't wait. Taking a deep breath, he sprinted up the stairs.
At the same time—
The elevator doors opened on Arya's floor. He stepped out, looking around. Where is Ronnie?
Then he suddenly remembered—Ah, I forgot my phone upstairs! Without wasting time, he stepped back into the elevator and pressed the button for the 5th floor.
Meanwhile, Ronnie finally reached the 5th floor.
His breath was heavy from running. He walked to Arya's room and tried the handle—it was locked. His frustration grew. "What the hell is happening today? Everywhere I go, nobody's there. Is this my bad luck day?" he muttered.
Feeling exhausted, he sighed and lazily walked toward the elevator. He pressed the button, and after a few seconds, the doors slid open.
Inside the elevator, Arya stood there.
Ronnie froze for a moment. Arya looked equally surprised.
"Bro, where were you? I've been looking for you everywhere!" Ronnie exclaimed. "I checked your room downstairs, but you weren't there."
Arya stepped out of the elevator. "I was in your room, but it was locked. So, I took the elevator back down, but you—"
"I was in a hurry, so I took the stairs instead," Ronnie explained, catching his breath.
Arya's expression turned serious. "Something's wrong. Why were you looking for me?"
Ronnie nodded. "I need to talk to you about something important."
Before he could say another word, Arya cut him off. "Wait, I need to tell you something first."
They both spoke at the same time.
"It's about that girl," they said in unison.
They stared at each other.
Arya blinked. "Wait… you were going to talk about her too?"
Ronnie looked equally shocked. "You know about her? I don't know who she is, but I have a bad feeling. I think she might be dangerous."
Arya hesitated, then reached into his pocket. "Bro, I found this letter on my bedside table."
Ronnie's eyes narrowed. "A letter? From who?"
Arya took a deep breath. "From that girl. The same one I told you about before. The one you didn't believe existed."
Ronnie clenched his fists. "What was written in the letter?"
Arya's face darkened. "That's what I need to show you.
