Chapter 101: Grades of Authority
In a dark underground room, Chu Wuyao sat cross-legged with her eyes closed, surrounded by the broken pieces of the three memory crystals.
Every new inner disciple of the Original Desire Sect would be given a residence upon their promotion and compared to the house she previously lived in, the differences were huge.
Not only was this residence way bigger and more luxurious, like a small villa, but it also had some very useful functions.
For example, this underground room was a dedicated training place suitable for the disciple's cultivation.
It was covered in many powerful formations and these formations ensured the disciple's safety while they were in seclusion.
Time slowly went by and it was unknown how much time had passed when suddenly, Chu Wuyao finally opened her eyes.
"Shackles Realm...", she whispered in a low voice and recalled the content of the Shackles Realm chapter of the Original Desire Sutra.
Just as the name would suggest, cultivation in the Shackles Realm is quite simple and crude, only requiring to break off the shackles in the cultivator's body.
Once a cultivator has broken all 9999 shackles in their body, they will have reached the peak of the Shackles Realm and would have satisfied the first condition for a breakthrough to the Awakening Realm.
However, just as the information she previously obtained through the system, in order to break through the Awakening Realm, in addition to breaking of all the shackles, a cultivator has to possess at least one Authority.
While she went through this information, Chu Wuyao unconsciously recalled what Zhao Peng had unintentionally mentioned, that there are inner disciples that can actually break through but they are actively suppressing their own cultivation.
Now that Chu Wuyao had become more familiar with the Shackles Realm, she understood why they did this.
Although every Authority is an understanding of a certain law, this doesn't mean that all Authorities are equal.
According to how difficult it is to understand them, Authorities are divided into different grades, namely: Low-Grade, Middle-Grade, High-Grade and Supreme-Grade.
Usually, the lower the grade of an Authority, the easier it is to obtain them and the lower their power is.
For example, a very common Authority is the Fire Authority and it is only a Low-Grade Authority.
After all, there are countless fire-based techniques and skills and it is quite easy to obtain this Authority.
Although the grade of the Authority doesn't matter and even cultivators that have a Low-Grade Authority can break through the Awakening Realm, breaking through in this way will only result in them being the weakest Awakening Realm cultivators possible.
Even, their future potential will be somewhat damaged.
This is why there are inner disciples that are actively suppressing their cultivation.
If casual cultivators obtained a single Authority and reached the peak of the Shackles Realm, they would not hesitate at all and would immediately choose to break through in order to enhance their strength.
But some people, mostly the disciples of major forces, are unwilling to make such compromise and make their cultivation journey more difficult.
Even though breaking through the Awakening Realm only possessing a Low-Grade Authority doesn't mean that a cultivator will be unable to make further progress, they will still have to pay some time in order to recover this "lost" potential.
For these people, it is better to waste some time while they are at the Shackles Realm that later down the road.
Thinking of this, Chu Wuyao lowered her head and looked at the back of her hand. Explore more at My Virtual Library Empire
With a thought of her mind, a white complicated rune appeared on her smooth skin, making her hand looked eerie.
"So, the Mist World Authority is actually a High-Grade Authority?", Chu Wuyao glanced at the white rune and was unable to hide her excitement.
After all, she knew that observing this rune could allow cultivators to easily understand the law of mist and if a cultivator were to possess it, they would have no trouble obtaining the Mist World Authority.
Moreover, compared to other cultivators, Chu Wuyao had a unique advantage.
She could use Sin Points in order to enhance her understanding!
She had already conducted a test before and found that it would take 500 Sin Points to improve her understanding by 1%.
This seemed quite expensive, but in Chu Wuyao's eyes, this meant that she only had to kill about 50 Li Ruoshis.
It was only now that Chu Wuyao finally understood just how valuable this rune was.
"No wonder Li Ruoshi chose to seal her cultivation and went to great lengths to obtain this inheritance."
"As long as any cultivator obtains the inheritance of the Mist Dragon, it is very likely that they'll be able to understand a High-Grade Authority."
"Even if they remain at the Early Stage of the Shackles Realm, having a High-Grade Authority can make them almost invincible in the Shackles Realm."
"It deserves to be the inheritance left behind by a being at the peak of the Supernatural Realm...", Chu Wuyao sighed.
After she hid the white rune, Chu Wuyao opened the system panel and looked at her cultivation, wanting to see its changes now that she had obtained the rest of the Original Desire Sutra.
[Cultivation: Shackles Realm(1 Shackle)]
To Chu Wuyao's surprise, even though no number in parenthesis appeared behind her realm, there was still a flashing (+) button right behind the [Cultivation] column.
After some hesitation, Chu Wuyao took a look at her Sin Points and chose to click on it.
"Bang!"
The next moment, a loud noise came from inside her own body and before she could react, an illusory lock appeared briefly on her forehead, before it shattered into pieces.
Immediately, Chu Wuyao felt that her strength had increased, albeit this increase was very small.
Although she was surprised by how easily she "broke through", she had already accepted that the system was very powerful and quickly calmed down.
Then, she turned her attention to a thing that was more relevant.
Glancing at the bottom of the system panel, Chu Wuyao checked her balance and found that her Sin Points had decreased by 10, meaning that breaking a shackle only cost 10 Sin Points.
Still, no number in parenthesis appeared behind her realm.
Since she had already seen the previous price, this time she didn't hesitate and clicked on the (+) button again.
"Bang!"
Another shackle flashed on her head before shattering, and when Chu Wuyao looked at her balance, she found that just like last time, it had only decreased by 10 Sin Points.
"Does that mean that the cost of breaking a shackle will always remain the same?", she thought, but she was unable to confirm this guess at the moment.
Taking a glance at the remaining Sin Points, she calculated that if this was true, she would be able to break about 300 more shackles.
She had an urge to use all her points and enhance her cultivation as much as possible, but in the end, she refrained from doing so.
After all, she had more important things to do, such as practicing the Blood Demon Body and becoming familiar with the new skills she had obtained.
