Chapter 147: Core
Chu Wuyao walked through the gate of the large black palace and raising her right foot, she stepped in.
The moment she stepped inside, she keenly discovered a change in the world around her.
She could sense that a few traces of high-level power had been left in the space inside the palace, which made her feel a strange dissonance with the world around her.
However, this feeling was strangely familiar and Chu Wuyao felt that she had seen it before.
Going through her memories, she tried to find when she had experienced this before and quickly recalled two certain instances: the inheritance of the Mist Dragon and the Original Library of the Original Desire Sect.
"So, can this palace be considered a different world from the outside?", Chu Wuyao made a guess, and felt that this was what caused her to feel strange.
However, she soon shook her head and stopped thinking about it.
With the dense white mist wrapping around her figure and reducing her presence, she took a few steps forward, prepared to explore this palace.
As for the fight outside?
Chu Wuyao felt that she should let the two High Priests deal with it.
She, the Saint of the Holy Church, had more important things to deal with!
With that in mind, Chu Wuyao didn't hesitate any longer and resumed walking.
The palace was divided into many large halls that were connected through long, wide corridors and surprisingly, most of it was empty.
Unlike what one would expect from such a large palace, there was no luxurious decoration nor were there servants and maids rushing to take care of it.
Not only that but so far, Chu Wuyao had yet to see a single person, as if there was no one guarding this place.
As she walked through the palace, she quickly discovered that it was way bigger than what it seemed from the outside, reinforcing her opinion that the palace should be an entirely different world.
After making sure that there were no traps or hidden formations, Chu Wuyao didn't stay for long at this place, but quickly walked deeper, towards the center of the palace.
She could feel that a few powerful auras were gathering there, although they were trying their best to hide it.
These auras were quite familiar to Chu Wuyao and they were auras that belonged to the so-called "extraterrestrial demons", also known as cultivators.
Moreover, there were a few auras that Chu Wuyao could recognize among them, having seen them before, whether this was in the Cultivation World or in the Inheritance World.
Although she didn't rush to get there, it didn't take long for her to reach her destination.
Soon, Chu Wuyao stood outside a large black gate with her hands behind her back and her head raised.
She could feel that this was the place where the various auras had gathered, on the other side of this black gate.
Of course, Chu Wuyao wouldn't recklessly barge in.
Instead, she waved her hand lightly and in response, a space crack appeared in front of her.
From this space crack, a small slimy creature jumped out and landed on the ground.
This creature was currently in the shape of a ball, but it seemed to be made out of liquid and it was clear that it could change its form at any time.
The moment this creature appeared, it didn't need Chu Wuyao's instructions.
After taking a look around, it moved right next to the black gate, and then, its body deformed, turning into a blue liquid and passing through the gate's gaps.
In the blink of an eye, this little devil had completely disappeared.
As if in unison, the moment it disappeared, Whisperer appeared right above Chu Wuyao's head and immediately shared the perspective of the little devil with her.
Many images flashed in Chu Wuyao's eyes, all images of what the little devil was seeing on the other side of the gate.
There was a large hall inside and many people were seen standing.
These people were all wearing long black robes and masks that hid their faces and identities, while they were seemingly surrounding a middle-aged man.
This middle-aged man was the only person who was dressed normally, as well as the only person who didn't hide their appearance.
The man stood in front of a giant pool of white, semi-transparent liquid and was staring at its bottom with an expressionless face.
The moment Chu Wuyao's eyes landed on this man, she felt a faint throbbing coming from her right shoulder, or to be more accurate, from the red tattoo that was engraved on it.
Instantly, she was able to guess who this middle-aged man was.
The quasi-core disciple of the Original Desire Sect, Mu Huanzhi.
Realizing this, Chu Wuyao was a little surprised.
She knew that Mu Huanzhi should have also lost his strength just like other cultivators, but she could now sense that his aura was still very strong.
In her perception, his aura was stronger than any Great Warrior or Great Magician she had seen before and it seemed about to break through the Holy Realm.
"It deserves to be a person that can kill Awakening Realm cultivators while only at the Shackles Realm."
"He started all over and yet still recovered his strength so quickly.", Chu Wuyao sighed, but she soon stopped paying attention to him.
No matter how strong or talented Mu Huanzhi was, it didn't matter to her.
In the blink of an eye, her eyes shifted from his figure and landed at the white pool, wanting to take a look at what he was staring at.
Unfortunately, because of the little devil's perspective, her vision was quite limited and she could only see that there was something squirming down there.
Moreover, as time passed, this squirming became more and more obvious, as if a creature wanted to break out of the pool and free itself from its shackles.
Recalling the white river that extended throughout the formation, Chu Wuyao had some faint guesses about what this "creature" was.
She was about to continue surveying the hall, when suddenly, the creature's movements set off a few waves in the originally calm pool.
This was nothing surprising, but because of the movement of the transparent liquid, an object happened to float to the pool's surface and appeared outside.
This object was a small skull, seemingly of a human, and strange black mist continuously poured out of where its eyes, nostrils, and mouth should have been, while it shone with an eerie black glow.
The moment Chu Wuyao saw this skull, she instinctively knew that this was what she had been looking for, the core of the formation.
But before she could feel happy about this discovery, her existence seemed to have been noticed by someone.
This "someone" was not a person in the hall, not even Mu Huanzhi, but the strange shining skull.
Suddenly, the skull moved on its own and turned around, its empty eye sockets staring at the giant gate.
Immediately, the people in the room noticed the skull's changes and hurriedly turned their heads towards the gate. Enjoy new stories from My Virtual Library Empire
"Who?!", a voice was heard and with a loud bang, the giant gate swung open.
