Shadow Slave: Gleaming Stars

Chapter 52: Quick Crash Course in IPOTE Lore and world building.

Disclaimer: The "I Pulled Out the Excalibur" wiki is nonexistent, and therefore, a lot of these descriptions are my interpretation of the powers. Since it's an incomplete translated novel, the updates are rather slow, and because only 200 chapters are currently available in English, a lot of the information here is subject to change.

-General information about the "I Pulled Out the Excalibur" power system.

(I'll refer to the novel as IPOTE from now on.)

* Mana

It's the supernatural energy that fuels aura and magic in IPOTE, and is one of the fundamental measurements of power in the novel, very much akin to Soul Essence in Shadow Slave.

* What differentiates a Mage from a Warrior?

Mages form circles around their heart and use mana to fuel magical spells, whereas warriors hold mana directly inside their heart and transform that mana into Aura.

*Aura

Aura is a form of mana that's unique to warriors and resides in the heart. Aura grants the user enhanced physical capabilities, and when infused with a weapon, grants it enhanced durability, sharpness, etc.

*Realms

Based on either their level of insight or the number of circles that they possess, a mage or a swordsman belongs to different realms.

(At the current English translation, the levels of mages aren't clearly defined, so I'll be focusing more on the realms of swordsman.)

- Sword expert: The stage at which one can convert the mana in their heart into sword aura and create an aura blade.

- Sword seeker: Sword seekers differ from sword experts because they're able to infuse their aura with their "sentiment", sentiment being the very base of their identity.

- Swordmaster: Reaching the realm of swordmaster is a transcendent realm characterized by a swordsman's ability to accomplish the impossible with their sword. At this stage, a swordmaster's swordsmanship possesses qualities that border on the conceptual, capable of warping space or ignoring aspects of causality.

*Stars

Stars are granted by heaven after achieving a feat of notoriety or fulfilling a certain set of conditions, and grant powers based on their "theme".

Ex: the Star of Dragonslaying granting enhancements against draconic entities.

*Starlight

After gaining a star, you gain access to another form of external energy called Starlight. Starlight is EXTREMELY flexible in its use, being able to create constructs, strengthen pretty much anything, used as fuel to activate the power within stars, etc. In general, Starlight operates at a much higher level than the likes of Mana, and can almost be seen as a sort of divine energy.

*Constellations

By being granted a certain number of stars (About 6), one can ascend to a higher level of existence called a constellation. Constellations operate like divine beings in the IPOTE series, with the much stronger ones embodying concepts related to the theme of their stars. A constellation's powers vary depending on the concepts they embody and the number of Stars they possess, with the strongest known constellations being King Arthur, The Witch of the Fallen, The Cursed Dragon, and the Betrayer of the Round Table.
