Shadow Slave: is this love?

Chapter 11: Chapter 11: The Truth laid out

After te meeting, everyone but Cassie and Rain left... And Sunny made sure people saw it and let the rumors spread!

Yep, a jerk move, but that was buisness wasn't it?

Infact it was such a bad move that, even Aiko judged him?

Well... Not really.

She was proud of it but Sunny wasn't!

Anyways, now the regulars would come... And he was excited!

Professor Julius, Beth, Quentin, Luster, Kim and the rest of the people close to him would visit now...

Julius, the man who taught him how to survive.

Beth, someone close to Professor Obel and someone he spent some time with back in Antarctica.

Quentin, Luster, Kim... The members in his cohort who made it alive.

Cassie looked away from the newspaper and turned him, him, and smiled.

His heart started to race, the lub dubs audible in the whole room.

She giggled.

It was warm, genuine, caring and—Sunny blushed—melodius.

Her voice was like a song bird.

Truly beautiful.

Something one could only imagine in their dreams.

Something—something he dreamed of every day since he became Fateless.

He—only now—realised how much he took her for granted.

"I'm sorry. For always taking you for granted. For leaving. For-for everything." Sunny's hands clenched.

He—he hated himself.

For leaving.

But... Deep down—deep down... He would do it all over again.

He knew it.

She knew it.

And yet, her next words surprised him.

"I-I too, am, sorry. I knew it would happen.

I-I new you would leave.

Leave us.

To no longer have [Shadow Bond]."

She raised her arms, and slowly wiped away the forming tear. She needed to sound confident and not betray herself for the next thing.

"Infact, I would do it all over again if it means we coud be together. I would do it for us without regrets.

You and I."

She tried to hide it—and yet she choked back a sob.

She would definetly do it.

But she lied about the no regret part... She would feel sad despite how it ended.

Who wouldn't?

Betraying your crush is never east... So what if it ended well?

But—for him—he didn't care.

Not about that.

But it didn't mean he didn't wish he knew the consequences...

'As they say, all's well that ends well.'

Maybe he could give Honey another try!

'Yeah... nope'

Never!

Well not unless Cassie asked him to... Then, and only then, would he consider it!

"Sunny, how could you look at me while not looking! Are you thinking about another girl? Or what?" She asked, looking at his distant gaze.

"I wasn't, I swear! Infact I was thinking about you!"

"What thoughts—about me—ran in your little head, then?"

'Damnation... It was too direct of a question!'

"I- I was thinking that if you told me to eat Honey, I would."

Damn this flaw!

He was fucked!

"Oh?" She smirked, it looked terrifying!

He felt like—her look felt like he was just caught cheating on her?

Dead.

He was dead.

Her gaze turned more intent, and she passed him the honey she brought... Fully expecting this!

'What kind of girlfriend ruins surprises like this!'

Well... This wasn't a surprise, but that didn't mean he didn't have one planned!

Well he didn't... But that was besides the point!

'Weaver... Please, help me. For once, I ask fate to be on my side!'

Yep, no going back now.

His palms started to sweat, as he reached for the bottle.

His other hand—which held a glass—shook.

He looked away from the bottle, and started to pour... Tears almost appeared in his eyes.

Almost.

She looked at him intently, her gaze? It was fixed. Intently.

On him.

On the bottle.

He slowly poured the honey, brought the glass to his lips and was about to drink it... When—

"Stop. Don't drink it. You passed the test."

His palms, still with sweat, dropped the glass.

"Thank the dead gods!" Sunny sighed in relief, actually feeling glad.

"You're over reacting." She giggled, saying it at the same time as Sunny and got up and walked towards him.

"I'm not." He practically sobbed, his eyes widened like a puppy...

'Whatever a puppy is!'

Cassie, once again, giggled but this time pulling him closer for a hug.

BLOOPERS:

She looked at him intently, her gaze? It was fixed. Intently.

On him.

On the bottle.

He slowly poured the honey, brought the glass to his lips and was about to drink it... When—

Cassie suddenly pushed the table up, forcing the whole glass of Honey on him.

Author's Note: NGL i added the puppy eyes part solely because I didn't find any stupidity here XD
