Shadow Slave: Re Route

Sunny was done contracting with the Song, he was showered with soul shards, including transcendent ones, along with memories.

Best part: he coud go to Antarctica because of the Government and Song Clan's help, as a member of First Evacuation Army. At that, he was the captian of First Irregular Company.

His cohort had him, Samara, Dorn, Belle, Kim, Luster and Quentin.

The way he chose everyone was based on their mental fortitude, sustenance, and experience. All three were important since they would be sent to constant missions, thus having the need to conserve essence.

And, most importantly, they suited his inclinations well.

Almost perfectly.

With his aspect, Kim would find it easier to share weak points of the Nightmare Creatures more easily.

Samara would be able to infuse essence in objects, and with the help of Kim her aim would be sharper.

Luster was a good driver—ace pilot, according to the files— for his Rhino, as well as coud regenerate his own essence or share it to others.

Similarly, they all complimented it well.

Together, they were called the Terrors. The name derived from their captain, the Terror himself.

The Terror of Antarctica.

They were on their way to LO49...

"Luster, contact the army and tell them we're almost at our destination." Sunny, with the default government provided suit, ordered Luster.

They were to escort a man, Professor Obel, back to Falcon Scott.

"Sunny, since you're the closest and the most experienced among the irregulars... I need you to go to LO49 and bring Professor Obel here. To Falcon Scott." Jet ordered him, but in a sisterly manner... Was it because she could see the loneliness inside of him?

Was it... Because she was there, at some point? The same pain?

A—and why... Why did he care?

"Alright." He replied simply, but with a tone that people used for people they cared about.

W—why did it come out like this?

Why?

He meant for it to be distant... Was he trying to keep this relationship close?

It didn't matter. He would die by the end of a year.

The call ended with him accepting the mission... A risky one.

But why was a wide smile on his face?

Shadow Fragments. Was it that?

Surely—surely.

How would it be because of the talk with Jet? A, once, unreachable distant wall?

'Yeah, it couldn't be that.'`

He focused on the road ahead, and saw the laboratory.

The Lunar Observatory 49.

Little did he know... The place would have a terror more powerful than the soul devouring tree.

Day one:

Two Gates opened, well it felt like two but only one was located.

Day two:

People started to disappear, at times Sunny felt like he saw them disappear in the ocean, but couldn't remain certain.

Few days later:

"Give me every mind resistance memory." He ordered the Master there, "I feel like the damn Nightmare Creature is in our head."

Sunny, after getting all the Memories, watched the CCTVs and found out what happened.

To his horror, he was correct, even Sin Of Solace said the same thing. Yet he ignored it.

And now, he realised they all disappeared in front of his eyes.

'Damnation! It happened... It happened right in front of me!'

Sunny, if it was even possible, turned paler.

Much paler.

They had to leave...

A few more days passed... The Naval Convoy that was supposed to arrive for them, the only hope of the Awakened here, was destroyed...

Presumably destroyed, as the Master there told him

"But we can't wait for them." Sunny argued.

"It's their only hope." The Master argued, "You should take Professor Obel away...."

W-what? Did he not care

Why?

Suddenly a pain ignited in his chest....

'What? Why?'

Why did he care?

So what if they all died?

They weren't his mission....

And humans ignored him while he suffered.

So why?

And why couldn't he come up with a miracle, as he always did?

He left, with pain in his chest, and bid farewells...

"You and Beth lied about them joining later, didn't you?" Professor Obel asked.

Professor Obel... Someone who took care of him, had similar interest, was old and wise. He knew a lot about the world, and at the same time nothing.

He was the one who made the Obel Scale.

What would be reply with? The truth?

"No they aren't coming, yes we lied."

The truth escaped him anyways... His flaw acted up.

He, for the moment, forgot he was the most honest person in the world. Two worlds, even.

He, once again, wished he didn't have this flaw.

Why did it have to bring more harm to him than for most people?

And why was he not honest with himself... No one had an innate ability like his.

Did he even know himself?

No. He was confused.

As much as wished to die, he wished to live just the same.

As much as he loved Neph, he hated Changing Star just the same.

As much as he wanted to be *needed*, he wished he wasn't.

Why?

"Captain... Should we take a break?" Luster spoke suddenly, pushing him out of his thoughts.

Sunny noticed a lone, now cold, tear on his pale face.

"Yes." He replied, and headed out, "I will check the road around us."

And that was when he saw it...

The whole of LO49 was empty... Well the people were gone.

'What?'

They were all...

'They are all gone.'

Fear.

He screamed, a high pitched screech escaped his lips.

This was his fate.

After a while, he spotted a group of survivors...

And next thing he knew, he decided to take them in.

They travelled a very long distance... And then were chased by Devouring Clouds inside the tunnel.

The tunnel.

They were stuck there for who knew how long. Sunny needed to send a message outside... But they couldn't enter the damn dream!

What could be do?

It took him a while but he had to do something he hated.

He needed to send a message to Nephis.

Memory: [I Am Stuck in an Endless Tunnel Full of True Darkness. How the Hell Do I Get Out? Ask Cassie. For once in your useless life. There are civilians with me. REPLY!].

He mentioned the civilians just so she would help him. Why would she care if it was just him?

She wouldn't.

Because he was Sunny.

No one wanted him...

So why did... So why did they care?

His cohort.

Professor Obel.

Beth?

And the rest of the civilians.

And deep down.. He knew Neph cared.

Why... Why Neph and not Changing Star?

Why?

"Do I still love her?"

"Huh?" Suddenly Beth popped up from behind him.

"Nothing!" Sunny replied, annoyed.

"What were you doing with your hands..." Beth asked.

"Writing a message to a big star, who happens to be close to a seer."

"Don't reply if you don't want to, Sunny." Beth replied.

And two days later he got a reply...

But somehow, he sensed the sadness lingering inside of it.

'Its all her anyways. And my choice of trusting her.'

It was mainly him.

Why did it have to end this way?

Why couldn't they be together?

Why couldn't Rain... be alive?

With those thoughts he headed in the connected tunnels and broke stabbed heart—Well it was Saint using Sin of Solace—and all hell broke lose...

They escaped to the mountains, and Sunny had to, quite literally, make a bridge out of thin air... Or rather, shadows.

They decided to go to Eurbus Field and ran into a Fallen Titan.

"G-Goliath." Luster muttered, his voice was shaking with fear, his body shook with a shiver.

"Go. Leave, I will handle it." Sunny replied, his voice laced with confidence.

A false confidence, till an extent.

"Captain! You can't." Samara tri

"You all certainly can't." Sunny's voice snapped, his voice could make any mundanes feel as if their intestines were twisted.

Sunny Shadow Stepped out, and watched as the cars left.

"Come at me, you mere titan. Learn the Fear of Shadows." Sunny spoke, with bloodlust in a piercing way. If anyone, especially a mundane or Sleeper or Awakened were here, they would find themselves petrified with the intent.

The shadows around him made its way towards him, enveloping him and turning him into a Dark Butterfly, the [Mantle] [Shell] attributes helped him perfectly.

The Fourth Step.

Shadow Dance.

"I am Lost from Light. Lost from Light."

Reminding himself of his True Name, he started attacking the titan.

His wings flapped, frequently attacking the titan with his claws.

'Die. Die.'

Chains enveloped Goliath, stopping him at the same time, his Shell crumbled and re formed repeatedly, draining his essence.

He now changed his shape to a Serpent's... It was taken from... Well he didn't know.

He couldn't.

Not in this form.

Now the serpent opened its mouth, while wrapping the titan with his body...

The mouth reached for Goliath's face, attempting to snap its head off, but failing.

Goliath broke out, his hands spreading, and then proceeded to crush him.

'Die. Die.'

Bloodlust filled him, that was the downside of this form.

"Lost from Light."

Wings once again formed on him, the other shadows dissolves... He was low on essence.

But suddenly... A serpent appeared behind Goliath... Turning into another creature, it was the Remnant of the Jade Queen, and it killed Goliath.

He did it.

He killed Goliath.

A laugh escaped his lips, a slow maniacal laugh which would make people question his sanity.

The serpent excitedly made its way towards him, going *inside* of him and helped him regenerate as much essence as he could.

He heard a sound, a sound that made his blood boil.

Fear.

There was a Nightmare Creature there... It was the same damn Fiend he encountered back at LO49.

It surprisingly survived...

Well he was fucked... He had no essence.

He almost killed the damn fiend this time, except it escaped because of some sea monsters.

After reaching his convoy, he found a destroyed Eurbus Field and more refugees.

BLOOPERS (well not really, idk the correct term)

Sunny stared at the damn Goliath.

'Ugh stop making my life harder'

"You. How dare you stare down at me beast? Im Lost From Height. Born in Shadows. Rightful Heir of Death."

Goliath continued staring at him, and unknown to Sunny, raised its leg...

"The Bastard son of Fa-"

The legg crushed him...

And this time he didn't have Solvane's memory to keep his ass alive.

He died.

AN: Ya I ended this with fiend reveal, but I won't write it's fight it pretty much went the same as orignal ( yes im too lazy to write it). And yes I know there are quite a few typos in bloopers but it makes it funnier (yes ik I spelt leg as legg 💀)

Anyways ik this is more filler style but whatever, ill start the next chapter from around a little before Winter Beast came and a little after . Read the orignal if you haven't
