Shadow Sword of Vengeance

Chapter 6: Harder fight awaits

Lucien kept walking deep into the town, busting and crowded with many people.

Some looked like Merchants and some looked like peasants.

Surrounded by shops on the sides that were made of wood and contained different items, some had food, while the other had perfume. Clothes, weapons everything was available there.

Lucien walked through the huge crown slowly but carefully avoiding any potential danger that could been hidden in the crowd.

While walking he saw a person stealing from a shop and starting to run.

"He is a thief...CATCH HIM!!!!..."Cried the shopkeeper while the thief was running.

There were already 3 soldier guards in his way but all of them laughed continuously without moving an inch and looked at the thief running while being followed by people in amazement and enjoyed the scene.

After the thief was caught by people there, one of them approached the soldiers.

"don't you have any shame? You aren't even performing your duties. It wasn't like this before..." said A man while looking straight into the eyes of the soldier.

"OOO, so you filthy little people will now rebel against us?" The soldier slapped his face while replying.

People in the market jumped on the soldiers, enraged and shouting. They attacked the 3 soldiers.

Punching and kicking them that the 3 soldiers couldn't defend and fell causing the people to stomp on them.

After a few seconds, they barely walked away with the help of other soldiers who threatened the people of this being a crime.

The people dispersed again, engaging in their work while cursing this new system that the kingdom had gotten into.

Their hate for the king grew day by day and due to no action being taken against the power abusers, people started to take the law into their hands.

Some hired mercenaries for themselves, while some towns established groups of fighters and placed them to defend against the soldiers and mercenaries.

While this system began to spread and soldier's authority decreased, It was also a huge blow to the rule of the king.

In the palace, a soldier approached the king, who was sitting on his throne, informing him about the situation unfolding throughout the kingdom.

"People have started forming groups to act as soldiers, and rebellion against the army has become prominent. Your Majesty… at this rate, the soldiers will be nothing more than powerless puppets."

This was another heavy blow to the king, confirming his fears that the people would soon rebel against him.

Hesitantly, he commanded the soldier to write a scroll to send to that organization, seeking their approval to remove the mercenaries and restore the kingdom's rule to how it was before.

Far away, in a massive wooden mansion with a hot spring in its backyard, surrounded by snowy peaks, it was raining. Water dripped from the sloped roof onto the ground while an old man sat under the roof, sipping his coffee.

Before long, he received the king's scroll, which read:

"Greetings to Sir Soist,

I am writing to inform you about the current problems my kingdom is facing, which could potentially threaten my governance. I am aware of your warning, but I would appreciate it if you resolved the issue soon so that no more riots occur in the kingdom.

…King"

The old man smiled at the scroll before tossing it away into the pouring rain.

However, his smile soon turned into concern when he thought about the issue.

"Call the disciple of the 'sin of pride' as soon as possible," Soist ordered his servant.

After a few hours, The disciple of 'Sin of pride' came and bowed down to the old man Soist.

"Greetings to the great master of this world. What do you want me to do old man" He spoke in a partially disrespectful tone.

"I want you to kill someone" replied the old man

"Just promote me already, old man. You know I am the best of disciples, I am even better than my master. Yet you continue to taunt me without promoting me?.... Do you want to die?..." The disciple of 'pride' Replied while touching his sword.

"Do not get ahead of yourself. I will promote you when I deem it fit, you are in no position to tell me what to do.... Do as I say unless you want to end up like our enemies...."Said the old man leaning forward with his eyes widened.

'what a pain in the ass you are, you old fart... Go ahead tell me who I should destroy"

"Lucien" replied the old man while also describing Lucien's appearance.

"You are sending your strongest warrior to kill a kid????!!!!!..... Are you out of your mind you old shit" shouted the disciple.

"He is not just an ordinary kid, he has been killing most of our strongest mercenaries and we can no longer let him damage us if we want to control this kingdom..... So obey me if you want to get a higher rank...."

"Fine, but after I kill him if I'm not promoted. You'll be promoted to hell" Replied the disciple before leaving.

"Sighhhh..... Kids these days" mumbled the old man before standing up and stepping into the rain.

He stood in his backyard, with wooden fences around the height of 7 feet.

The old man extracted his sword from the wooden stick he carried and placed it in front of his eyes.

In the town, however, Lucien was walking around with someone following him from the top of the houses.

Lucien suddenly stopped and looked at him with his gaze sharper than a knife that startled the unknown man following him.

Lucien turned into an isolated street and after a few minutes someone approached him, it was the same guy who had been following him.

"Greetings to you, O shadow that'll bring light..." Said the man with respect and envy.

"Greetings....Who are you??" Lucien Replied.

"I am sorry for my indecency of following you... I had to be sure before approaching you... I hope you can understand"

"Why did you want to approach me??"

"I work as the messenger between Milerin and Cronics..... I was sent by Cronics to inform you about something....."

"Cronics..The man part of the governance of kingdom" Lucien recalled before asking him what the message was.

"The king informed them about rebels going on and asked them to send stronger warriors to kill you.....Soon enough. You will be attacked by a disciple or even the sin if they are too hasty. So please be careful on your journey."

"I will... Thank you" Lucien replied before they parted ways.
