Shadows Of Rebirth

Chapter 10: Contacting Vincenzo

(Chapter 10: Mira's POV)

I had spent too long chasing the shadows of my past, lost in unraveling the mystery of who I was, that I had neglected the world I now lived in. That needed to change. If I was going to take back what was rightfully mine and overthrow my stepmother and sister, I needed more than just power—I needed a solid identity, a name that carried weight.

I sighed, staring at my reflection in the dimly lit room. The woman in the mirror looked different from the one who had stumbled into this life, lost and uncertain. No, this version of me was sharper, more dangerous. And if I was going to carve out my place in this world, I had to move strategically.

I should have checked in with Vicenzo sooner. He was the only person in my other life who had my back, just as Emma was the only true friend I had in this one. A part of me still struggled to trust, but the truth was, I couldn't do this alone. Revenge was a lonely road, but it didn't have to be an isolated one.

With a resigned breath, I turned toward my desk, where my laptop sat open. I had emailed Vicenzo the night before, informing him of a shift in my interests. A company wasn't enough. I needed influence. A consultancy firm would give me that—access to high-profile clients, the ability to shape industries, and most importantly, a legitimate front to build my empire.

I picked up my phone and dialed his number, tapping my fingers impatiently against the desk as it rang.

"Vicenzo." His voice was steady, clipped, always professional.

"It's Mira. Give me an update," I said, skipping pleasantries.

He chuckled, a low, knowing sound. "Straight to business. I like it." Papers rustled in the background before he continued, "I've narrowed it down to a few options, but one stands out—Synergy Solutions. Established, reputable, profitable. They specialize in corporate strategy and risk management, and they're looking to expand."

I leaned forward, intrigued. "What's the catch?"

"A bit of internal restructuring. The CEO is stepping down, and there's some uncertainty within the leadership. But that's where you come in."

I smirked. "An unstable company is easier to take over."

"Exactly," he confirmed. "If you move quickly, you can position yourself as their anchor during this transition. Gain their trust, shape their direction."

I nodded, already considering my next move. "Set up a meeting with their executives. I want to see if they're worth my time."

"It's done. You'll have the details within the hour," he assured me. Then, after a pause, "You're making big moves, Mira. Be careful."

"I always am."

The call ended, but the rush of adrenaline remained. This was it—the beginning of something bigger. If I played my cards right, this company wouldn't just be a tool; it would be my stepping stone to power.

I stood, walking over to the large mirror in my office. Gone was the hesitant girl who had woken up in a stranger's body. In her place stood someone reborn, forged from loss and betrayal, ready to reclaim what was hers.

With a smirk, I reached for my blazer, straightened my shoulders, and whispered to my reflection, "Let's see them try to stop me."
