Chapter 139: Chapter 139: The Final Battle
"It's about time to leave," thought Qingming, reflecting on the memory that had just appeared in his mind.
Indeed, moments ago, one of his shadow clones dispelled its jutsu, relaying crucial information to him, urging him to head over to a certain location immediately.
'But before I leave, should I stir things up a bit?' Qingming's eyes scanned the tents housing the injured.
With the trust he had built, Qingming was confident that he could 'instantly' kill everyone in a tent without causing a disturbance. However, it would serve no real purpose.
First, while he could silently kill them, he couldn't silently control them. His current genjutsu only worked on individual targets, meaning he couldn't control multiple people at once.
This meant he wouldn't be able to extract their chakra, which rendered any violence pointless.
Second, he had already drained these people once. Although they still had some chakra left, it wasn't much. The amount from a tent of six or seven people wasn't worth the risk.
Lastly, and most importantly, he didn't want to complicate matters.
Even if he killed them without being detected immediately, it wouldn't remain hidden for long; after all, the other Iwa-nin weren't blind.
He still had to head to the battlefield between the Iwa-nin and the Kumo-nin to take advantage of the chaos. If he were pursued, it would jeopardize his ability to stay hidden.
Moreover… Qingming opened his skill panel.
His "Healing Jutsu" had leveled up from LV3 (70/1000) to LV4 (490/2000), and his "Reflection Jutsu" had risen from LV7 (257/20000) to LV7 (512/20000).
With nearly 150,000 chakra points gained, that was more than enough. Any more would be pure greed!
With that in mind, Qingming stopped lingering and stealthily made his way out of the camp.
Thanks to some of Moriki Tetsu's memories, leaving the camp was even easier than entering. Within just a few minutes, he slipped away from the temporary camp.
Following the shadow clone's memories, he swiftly headed toward the battlefield between the Kumo-nin and the Iwa-nin.
The moon was high, but its light was faint.
Qingming dashed through the night, finally reaching the last known position of his shadow clone by midnight.
However, by the time he arrived, both the Kumo-nin and Iwa-nin were gone. Only the traces of battle remained.
Scanning the area, Qingming soon spotted a mark left by one of his shadow clones in a conspicuous spot.
Following these marks, he continued onward until dawn, when he finally reunited with three of his shadow clones.
At that point, they were still on the move.
In the distance, the large Kumo-nin force was visible, with a smaller group of Iwa-nin trailing behind.
"What's the situation?" Qingming asked, approaching one of his shadow clones.
The clone replied quickly, "In short, the Iwa-nin don't want the Kumo-nin to escape too quickly. They're trying to delay them but can't defeat the Third Raikage. So, they're just following and harassing them. You can see the rest for yourself."
With that, the shadow clone dispelled itself.
In an instant, the memories and experiences of the clone flooded Qingming's mind.
It only took a moment for him to grasp the situation.
In summary, the Iwa-nin had created a large encirclement further out, but due to the vast area, their forces were spread thin, risking a potential breakthrough.
To annihilate this elite Kumo-nin force, the Iwa-nin needed more time to close the encirclement and concentrate their forces.
To buy this time, Iwa Village dispatched a specialized unit to delay the Kumo-nin's advance.
The battle had taken place where Qingming arrived at midnight.
Initially, the shadow clones believed the final battle would happen there, so they immediately relayed the message to Qingming.
However, halfway through the fight, the Third Raikage unleashed overwhelming power, tearing through the Iwa-nin's elite defensive line, allowing the main Kumo-nin force to continue moving forward.
The clones had no choice but to leave their markers and continue the pursuit.
Likewise, after suffering a crushing defeat, the Iwa-nin no longer dared to engage directly, only resorting to harassing attacks from behind.
Now, it was a race against time—would the Kumo-nin reach the perimeter first and break through, or would the Iwa-nin consolidate their forces and form an impenetrable wall?
It was clear to Qingming that based on his previous life's knowledge, Iwa Village would complete their plan first. Otherwise, the Third Raikage wouldn't have been forced to stay behind and cover his men's retreat.
'The question is, how long until it happens?'
With that thought, Qingming had two of his shadow clones dispel themselves.
Poof, poof—two clouds of chakra smoke dispersed, leaving Qingming alone.
He quietly followed behind the Kumo-nin and Iwa-nin, waiting for the final battle to unfold.
Time passed slowly.
Before long, the sun had fully risen.
Neither the Kumo-nin nor the Iwa-nin showed any signs of stopping.
Qingming, naturally, kept up with them, despite having gone a full day and night without sleep. Thankfully, he wasn't an ordinary person and could hold out for several days without rest.
Hours slipped by.
As noon approached, Qingming felt an odd sense of tension.
He looked up at the sky. That morning's clear blue sky was now overcast with dark clouds.
Crack!
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning split the sky, illuminating the surroundings and momentarily blinding everyone.
Moments later, the deep rumble of thunder echoed, causing many to instinctively raise their heads.
At that moment, one thought crossed everyone's mind—this was the power of nature, beyond the reach of man.
Crack!
Another bolt of lightning flashed, illuminating the enormous Iwa-nin force ahead.
"Hmm?"
Qingming activated his Sharingan and looked ahead. Countless Iwa-nin were swarming over the hill, closing in rapidly.
Farther out and to the sides, even more Iwa-nin were gathering. There were so many, they looked like ants—impossible to count.
Even Qingming was stunned by the sight.
No wonder people say that once an army reaches a certain size, it becomes a boundless force.
Though the Iwa-nin ahead likely didn't number ten thousand, the atmosphere they created was overwhelming.
Even the Kumo-nin had come to a halt!
Crack!
Another bolt of lightning lit up the sky.
The next moment, Qingming felt raindrops fall on his face.
"It's raining," he murmured, glancing upward. The raindrops were now falling fast and heavy.
"Haha! This rain is perfect timing!" A sudden burst of laughter caught Qingming's attention.
He looked up to see a figure cloaked in lightning darting out of the Kumo-nin ranks, charging straight toward the Iwa-nin.
Who else could it be but the Third Raikage?
