Shattered vows

Chapter 5: CHAPTER FIVE

Georgia's POV

There was no proper plan as to how I wanted to get back at Henry but I tried my best to get revenge.

Over the past few weeks, I stopped playing along whenever he tried to act sweet and this made my supposed mother in law force Henry to keep trying to get my attention. According to her, women give off attitude when they want you to do better.

And to be honest, she didn't lie. I needed Henry to become not just a better man but a better person because talking down on a woman's confidence like that was just uncalled for. I mean, how else was I supposed to interpret his gestures if not for love interest?

Even though I was enjoying how my supposed mother in law made Henry do the domestic chores, get me gifts and do the laundry in a fit to get my attention, I feared that Anna would discover the truth sooner or later.

This fear stemmed from the consistent arguments that occured between Henry and I whenever Anna wasn't around us. Truth was, I couldn't imagine losing the contract but at the same time, I wasn't going to let Henry be disrespectful to me. If nothing, he owed me respect as his fake wife!

As a result of the differences between us, there was mutual resentment. I had always harbored hatred for arrogant men so it was frustrating that Henry was one of them.

For a second, I actually admired him and I thought he reminded me of my husband, recalling this made me feel sick to the stomach. Henry could never be like my Andrew, never!

Speaking of Andrew, he was the reason I've been in my head all day. Since I got to Henry's home, Andrew's phone had been unreachable and I wasn't really worried because I could still reach Anna who usually updated me on Andrew's physical condition.

But it had been exactly six days since I'd been trying to reach both Andrew and Anna and they've been out of reach. A soft sigh escaped my lips as I adjusted the brown flower vase back in place on the window.

My eyes stared out the window and all I could see were the clouds, clear and bright. A contrast to my brooding and dull mind. My arms rounded around my chest as I lowered my head.

'Is Andrew fine?' This question hit my mind for the umpteenth time and I found myself nodding in affirmation that he's definitely okay.

Yet I couldn't shake off the negative feeling that something must have happened. That was the only logical explanation as to why Bridget would be out of reach because it was unusual of her to be off her phone for that long.

I thought standing by the window would ease my mind as I stared at the clouds but it only made me think harder. Following this thought, I turned on my heels, headed for the small yellow sofa by the bookshelf.

The smell of cinnamon cologne invaded my nostrils as I took a seat. Henry must have been here.

'God. What do I do now?' The question ran through my mind multiple times yet I couldn't find an answer.

I clasped my hands together, pressing them against my lips as I thought of what to do. The only audible sounds in the room apart from my racing heart was the sound of air conditioner.

The next thing I heard was the clicking of shoes,I turned to the door across the room as Henry walked in.

Without thinking, I quickly approached him, "Umm, I need to talk to you."

Henry scoffed as he adjusted the laptop in his hand, "You better be joking."

I pressed my lips together upon the realization that Henry was not going to talk to me talk more of giving into my request but I was really desperate not to try.

"Listen. I'm not trying to argue with you or anything. I just want to ask if I could leave the house for a while."

Henry rounded my body, taking a seat on the bed, "You're familiar with the rules in the contract miss. You can't leave the house until we're done."

My brows pulled together in frustration, "But this is really important and-"

Henry glared daggers at me through his glasses, "Why are you raising your voice at me? I really couldn't care how important it is. If you leave, the contract ends!"

My heart sank with helplessness, how was I going to reach Andrew now? I just wanted to visit him and be sure he's fine at least.

With slumped shoulders, I walked out of the room trying to hold back my tears because I couldn't answer to Agnes if she saw me like this.

I was coming down the stairs when Anna excitedly approached me, wiggling two envelopes in front of me.

"I got these for you two!"

I feigned a smile as I walked to meet her, "What's that mother?"

Agnes placed her hands on mine, pulling me to take a seat on one of the white couches in the living room.

My lips genuinely turned upward as I watched her speak because her gift just solved my problem!

"And yeah, you two leave in two days!" Agnes declared after putting the envelope in my hands.

"Mother. I appreciate everything, I sincerely love this honeymoon ticket but there's a little problem."

Agnes raised a brow with curiosity, her brown eyes sparkling with concern.

"What is it dear?"

"Well…I was wondering if you could change the location to Willowspring city. Thing is, I've always wanted to visit there so I was hoping I could explore the town with Henry."

Agnes stroked my shoulders gently, "Aww dear.. Henry's quite familiar with the city so I don't think he'd want to come."

"Please convince him on my behalf.. y'know he listens to you better," I implored.

"Alright, I'll change the location and convince Henry to come with you. Happy?"

My cheeks flushed red as I pulled Agnes into a tight embrace, "Happy."

I was genuinely glad that I was going to finally see Andrew after so many months, little did I know that I was going to meet doom.
