✍️ From the Author
"He didn't want to stand out. But the world made sure he would."
Kazuo isn't your typical shonen hero.
He doesn't wear flashy armor or carry a comically large sword. He has no glowing symbols, no supernatural hairstyle, and no outfit screaming "chosen one."
And that's exactly the point.
His design is deliberately simple — because Kazuo, at his core, doesn't want to be a symbol.
He just wants to live.
Quietly.
Safely.
Freely.
I chose not to make him look like a hero — because in his world, being noticed can be deadly.
He wears a plain coat, carries a regular sword, and keeps a pouch of cat treats at his side. Not because it's cool, but because that's who he is: grounded, ordinary, human.
But of course, he can't escape attention.
Not with one black eye — the mark of the oppressed — and one green eye… the mark of the nobles.
Kazuo's existence alone challenges everything his world believes in.
That's the irony behind his simple design: He doesn't want to stand out — but the system won't let him blend in.
Even when he tries to be no one… the world sees him as a threat.
I didn't want another over-designed, over-destined protagonist.
I wanted someone who looks like he doesn't belong in a fight — because he never asked for one.
And yet, he's forced into it. Not because he's a hero… but because he can't ignore injustice any longer.
That, to me, is far more powerful than any glowing tattoo.
