Chapter 1256: Final battle with demons (16)



But in the center of this fighting, the one thing that was the most important was the movements of the Death King.

It raised its hand and seemed to be gathering its dark energy, as if it was preparing to do something.

The target of this dark energy seemed to be me.

I didn't know what it was trying to do, but I could feel the pressure that fell onto me because of the action that the Death King was taking.

It was very clear that I was the target of this thing.

But that pressure wasn't enough to stop me.

Especially since there was a mark that appeared on my hand when this pressure fell on me. This mark quickly formed a faint layer of light that was too faint for anyone else to see around

me.

I pointed the Staff of Earth at the ground under the Death King and suddenly flipped the ground under it.

I didn't even use the earth tendrils like I normally did, I just directly flipped the ground around. Of course, that was only possible because of what I had done before.

The ground under the Death King had already been hollow to a certain extent because of the earth tendrils that I had raised previously. The dirt that formed those earth tendrils actually came from under the Death King.

I had been hollowing out the ground under them just in case I needed to use this hole to trap

it.

I knew how dangerous this thing was, so anything that helped would be necessary.

Even if it only held the Death King for a little while.

When the ground under the Death King flipped, the Death King was sealed inside of a cage of dirt created from divine energy. This was definitely not a cage that would be easy to escape from.

But since this thing was a SS Rank Monster, there was no doubt that the Death King would be able to break out in the end.

So what had to be done before that happened was...

"Focus on the Death Knights! Take them down as quickly as you can so we can all focus on the Death King!"

As soon as my voice fell, I was already directing Joan to fly at the nearest Death Knight.

The Death Knights had frozen when they saw the Death King being trapped under the ground like this, so it was only natural that I wouldn't let this chance escape.

With Joan's speed, we immediately reached the nearest Death Knight.

I raised my hand and revealed a button which created ice crystals in the air.

The ice crystals quickly traveled towards the Death Knight before forming a cage of ice that completely surrounded the Death Knight and its mount. The two of them weren't able to do a single thing to break out of this, so they fell to the ground and shattered to pieces.

After shattering to pieces like this, the Death Knight didn't recover.

That was because the ice that had surrounded it was ice that was made of divine energy, so the dark energy that created the Death Knight had been purified by the ice.

After this one Death Knight shattered, the others came back to their senses as well and started attacking the other Death Knights.

With the holy magic coming from the airship, we were able to take down quite a few of these Death Knights.

Though the main reason that we were able to take down the Death Knights was because they had started to move slower than before. At the same time, they didn't seem to react to any attacks that came at them until we were right on them.

It was almost as if whatever had been controlling the Death Knights had been cut off from them, which made them sluggish like this.

With the way that it was going, it really seemed like it was only a matter of time before the Death Knights would be taken care of.

But before that could happen...

"Watch out!"

When I turned around because of that shout, it was already too late as I could see a dark beam that was coming at me.

I saw that this dark beam of energy came out of the ground where the Death King had been previously and it was aimed right at me.

It seemed like it would be hard to miss with the speed that it was going at.

Only how did the Death King know where to aim this attack in the first place?

I didn't have time to think about anything else as the attack was about to hit me, so all I could do was raise the button to create a barrier of ice.

Or that was what I thought was the only thing that I could do, but really Joan suddenly twisted under me. When she did, I was moved out of the way of that beam of dark energy and it was her that was placed in front of it.

The beam of dark energy hit Joan in the back and there was the smell of rotten flesh that filled the air.

This beam of dark energy was concentrated dark energy, which had a natural corroding effect to it.

So even if Joan's body was very powerful and resistant to most attacks, this was one of the attacks that she couldn't guard against.

After being hit by this attack, it seemed that she wasn't able to keep flying anymore, so she started falling to the ground.

But at the last moment, it seemed that Joan caught hold of herself and quickly flapped her wings to keep herself from crashing into the ground. With this last second reaction, she was able to keep herself from being hurt even more.

Only it seemed that she was more concerned about me as she was looking at me during this

time.

The problem was that where we landed...was where the beam had come from.

And there was hand that came out of the ground.
