When the popes came back, the first thing that they did was surround me.

They didn't even give me a chance to say anything as they completely surrounded me.

Then after surrounding me, the two of them started looking up and down over my body as if they were searching for something.

But what they were doing was just making sure that I wasn't injured.

With the way that they looked me up and down, they were like parents that were looking after their children after something traumatic happened.

Though from what I could see, the way that they looked at me seemed a bit more intimate than that. It almost seemed like the way that my wives would look at me after I came back from something dangerous.

I really didn't want to see two old men looking at me like this…

With a cough, I interrupted them while they were still looking at me and said, "What happened? How did I fall down and get trapped in that place?"

The two of them looked at each other as if they were trying to figure out what to say, but in the end, the pope of the Solista Religion just said with a sigh, "We don't know either."

The other pope nodded in agreement.

I looked at Klein and the others, but they also shook their heads.

It seemed that none of them had an idea of what happened.

So instead, I asked, "What did you see?"

With an awkward look on his face, the pope of the Solista Religion said, "We didn't see anything at all. One moment you were there and the next you were gone. It was almost as if you disappeared into thin air."

"Teleportation?" I asked in a slow voice.

The two popes looked at each other again before looking at some of the priests who also shook their heads.

The pope of the Solista Religion then said, "No, it shouldn't be that. If it was that, we would have felt the mana fluctuations of the spell and the leftover mana traces from the spell. Since we didn't feel anything like that when we searched the area you disappeared from, it shouldn't be that."

I gave a nod of agreement as well since I too didn't feel anything when things suddenly went dark.

If there was a trace of mana involved in the thing that took me, I certainly would have noticed with the sensitivity towards mana that I currently had.

So I was certain that it wasn't actually a teleportation spell.

Only if it wasn't that…

"Actually, I saw what happened." One of the royal guards suddenly said this.

When we heard this, we immediately looked at him. The popes even looked at him as if they were blaming him for not saying something sooner.

Only when we heard what he had to say, no one could really blame him for not saying something sooner. If he had, there might have even been people who laughed at him.

That was because the thing that he saw was actually a trap door. He saw this trap door appear under my feet and take me away.

There had been a part of him that had even questioned this since he didn't think that it would be as simple as a trap door. It was just that it was impossible for him to deny what he had seen since he had seen it clearly.

As for why he didn't say anything, the looks that the popes, the holy knights, the priests, and even the other royal guards gave him was more than enough to show that they didn't really believe what he said.

They didn't believe that it would be something as simple as a trap door.

Even I found it a bit hard to believe, but in the end, I realized that he was right.

We had really over thought things since it seemed unlikely that it would be something simple that would have been unnoticed by everyone. However, I had felt that falling sensation when things had gone dark like that.

It was just that no one would have thought that it was something that simple…

The others still looked like they had their doubts, but I stopped them from thinking too much about this since it wasn't important. There was no reason to remain stuck on this since there was something more important we had to take care of.

And as we were speaking, that thing came.

"Follow it." I said after the flames disappeared.

After escaping that place, the flames had appeared once more.

Though compared to before, it seemed that there were far less flames than before.

When I asked the others, I learned that we were quite far from where I had disappeared and it was quite further into the ruins, which was why the flames had become much smaller.

Though there was a part of me that also knew that it wasn't just that.

There was a part of me that knew that it was also because of the exhaustion that Joan must be feeling. She had worked hard releasing these flames all this time, I only learned how long it was after I escaped from that spiral.

We couldn't waste more time on this.

However, there was one interesting thing that happened.

Since Aisha was someone that joined us afterwards, it wasn't as if she knew what these flames were.

Only when she saw the flames, it didn't seem like she was afraid of them. She didn't even dodge out of the way even though it should have been natural instincts to move away from flames like this.

She even moved closer to the flames as if she wanted a closer look at them.

The look on her face showed that she knew that these flames weren't dangerous at all. The look on her face showed that she was very interested in the flames, as if she knew what they were.

I didn't know how she knew this, but I guess that it was something special about Aisha as a high elf.

After all, she had been able to tell that there was something special about the relics that I had.
