Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You

vol. 5 chapter 28 - The Artistic Little Girl

Autor’s Note:
Chapter 27 was skipped due to minor events. It mostly involved fulfilling daily family obligations and concluded with Muse growing a tail.

Upon hearing the news, Leon was both shocked and delighted, quickly rushing over to take a look.
However, viewing Muse from the front, he couldn’t see any sign of a tail.
“Where’s the tail?”
Rosvisser turned Muse around, positioning her back to Leon, and pointed at her lower back.
“Do you see it?”
Leon leaned in for a closer look.

Indeed, their youngest daughter had grown a tail at the base of her spine.
But this tail… was far smaller than he had anticipated.
As a former professional dragon slayer, Leon was well-versed in dragon anatomy.
A dragon’s tail grows proportionally with the rest of their body as they mature, serving as a crucial component for balance.
However, Muse’s newly sprouted tail was evidently out of sync with her current size.
“Why is it so small?” Leon wondered aloud.

He gently scooped Muse into his arms, patting her on the head and cautiously pinching the tip of her tail. Up close, it was so tiny that he hesitated to even call it a tail.
“I don’t know either. For a dragon her age, her tail shouldn’t be this short,” Rosvisser replied, equally puzzled.
As the couple spoke, Muse wiggled her tiny tail experimentally.
Leon raised an eyebrow and smiled warmly.
“Well, it’s short, but it’s still adorable, isn’t it?”
Rosvisser glanced down, her maternal instincts melting at the sight of the little tail.
Of course, she found it irresistibly cute—she’d been struck by its charm earlier in the nursery, which was why she’d called Leon over so excitedly.
“I know you want to say it’s fun to play with, but calling it ‘adorable’ is a bit much. That’s practically an insult,” she teased.
“How many years will it take for you to embrace human culture?” Leon shot back.

“How many years will it take ⊛ Nоvеlιght ⊛ (Read the full story) for you to accept that our children have more dragon traits? This proves that human genetics are simply—”
Rosvisser crossed her arms and wagged a finger smugly in front of Leon’s face.
“Not. Good. Enough.”
The age-old “competition” reignited once again.
Leon rolled his eyes and chose not to argue further.

Although he often debated with Rosvisser about the superiority of human versus dragon genes and championed the hope that their children would inherit more human traits, Muse’s lack of a tail at birth had left him quietly worried.
Tails are a significant marker of dragon identity.
If a dragon lacks a tail, they risk being ostracized or ridiculed.
Moreover, as the fourth princess of the Silver Dragon Clan, any rumors about her being tailless could have negatively impacted Rosvisser’s reputation.
Now that Muse had grown a tail, even if it was small, it was better than having none at all.

“Daddy! Mommy!” Muse called out to them.
“What is it, sweetheart?” Rosvisser leaned in, playfully pinching her daughter’s chubby cheeks.
“Hanging this tail feels weird. Muse can’t even walk properly!” Muse pouted.
“Muse wants to be like Daddy and not have a tail. Is that okay?”
Her crimson eyes sparkled with innocence as she looked up at them.
Rosvisser chuckled.
“Of course, my dear. Whatever makes you comfortable.”

Muse nodded, retracting her tail, and curled up in her mother’s arms to drift back to sleep.
For a young dragon like her, controlling the appearance of a tail required a bit of magic, so it wasn’t surprising that she felt tired. Neither parent was overly concerned.
Listening to Muse’s steady breathing, Leon instinctively cradled her gently, patting her back to help her fall deeper into slumber.

“This works out nicely. At least we won’t have to explain the tail situation to everyone anymore,” Leon remarked.
“Mm-hmm.”
After a pause, Rosvisser remembered something.
“Oh, right. Muse is over six months old now, the fastest growth period for a young dragon. Her clothes will need to be resized frequently. Let’s buy a few more outfits in Sky City later.”

“Sounds good. Since you’re off today, I’ll take Muse for a little shopping trip,” Leon offered.
“Alright. I’ll get ready.”
Half an hour later, the family of three departed for Sky City.

While the Silver Dragon Clan had its own shops, their selection couldn’t match the variety of Sky City’s bustling markets.
Besides, it wasn’t often that Rosvisser had a day off—it was nice to step out and enjoy the day.
After some time in flight, the family arrived at Sky City.
Landing gracefully, they headed straight for the busiest commercial district.

At the entrance of the marketplace, Leon returned with two cotton candies—
a red strawberry-flavored one for Muse and a yellow orange-flavored one for Rosvisser.
Muse clutched her sugary treat in one hand while holding her father’s hand with the other, walking obediently by his side.
“Would you like a toy, little one? They’re lots of fun!”

A merchant holding a puppet waved it enticingly in front of Muse.
But Muse showed little interest, shrinking shyly behind Leon instead.
As they walked further, various street vendors selling children’s toys approached with their pitches, but Muse wasn’t tempted by any of them.
Noticing her indifference, Leon crouched down to her level and asked,
“Muse, are you not interested in dolls or puzzles?”

Without much thought, Muse nodded seriously. “No, Daddy. I don’t think those toys are fun.”
Reflecting on it, Leon realized this was true.
Over the past few months, Muse had never once asked for toys or distractions.
Aside from an old rattle Leon had bought her, she rarely played with anything.

Most of her free time was spent in Rosvisser’s music room, exploring various instruments under her father’s watchful eye.
Even though Muse could only manage the piano at her current age, she often experimented with other instruments.
Leon couldn’t help but chuckle to himself.
Looks like we’re raising a little artist.
“How about Mommy teaches you a few new songs when we get home?” Rosvisser suggested.

“Really? Yes, please! Thank you, Mommy!” Muse beamed.
Rosvisser smiled back, handing her half-eaten cotton candy to Leon.
Leon took it instinctively, biting into it.
It was sweet.

The casual exchange was seamless—something only years of marriage could foster.
“Daddy, try mine too! It’s super tasty!”
Muse stood on her tiptoes, holding her cotton candy up to her father.

Leon indulged her, eagerly taking a bite and praising it.
“Muse’s cotton candy is delicious too.”
The family was happily chatting when a familiar voice interrupted them.
“Leon… what are you doing here?”

They turned to see two strikingly red-haired figures approaching.
“Konstantin…”
“Muse-chan!”

“Hefei!”
For Muse, her growing love for music was rivaled only by her joy at seeing her fiery little cousin.
