Chapter 9: Intima's King
The gates of the palace slowly opened, and light from the outside flooded in as the sound of a girl whining came through. The guards who wore that emerald green armor were beaten up, bruised, and bleeding.
Lucius watched the scene before him with a small fond smile. It was like he was used to watching his guards getting beaten up by his daughter nowadays.
'If he's so strong here. Why would he need guards? He's a god, no? If he can teleport me around from about 80 miles away, he can definitely protect his daughter from any threat, external or internal. Yep. He's got a weakness that I don't know.'
A grin spread across Julius' lips. He hated being the one not in control. But with this little piece of information, he could succeed in getting more power here. But he'll need to be careful, this guy could, and would kill him in an instant if necessary.
One of the guards got flung across the palace hall straight towards Julius, who instinctively froze.
The guard was just coming way too fast for him to process, and he closed his eyes, expecting to get knocked out instantly.
"Don't worry. It's fine. Open your eye's child."
Lucius seemed to be holding back his laughter; he was indeed a 'jolly' guy, or he was making Julius believe he was 'jolly'.
Julius opened his eyes just a bit. The guard was floating a few inches away from his face. Held back by an invisible force that put him back on his feet.
"Millie, that is enough for now. Greet your new friend."
Lucius stood up from his throne, his towering height more evident. He was much taller than Roy.
'Why the fuck is everyone so tall? Can't they keep to themselves and not touch the sky?'
Julius shook his head in exasperation, but then, he noticed Lucius looking at him with the same smile. Did... Did Lucius just read his mind?
"Elves naturally grow more physically the more their Sigil Rank goes up."
Yep. Julius was definitely going to keep his thoughts under blockade now; nothing was getting past his chaotic thoughts.
"Okay. But. What's a Rank?"
Julius was interrupted, getting struck in the face by none other than 'Milfy' or Millie, Lucius's daughter. And that punch definitely broke a bone or two.
"HEY WHAT THE FUCK BITCH!! YOU WANNA FIGHT?!"
Julius was enraged. He was trying not to use his Sigil too much, but all elves seem to be literal brawlers who fight first and listen later. And he hated those things.
His hand raised; a warp of what seemed to be space itself, coming out at high speeds, dashing straight towards Millie's throat.
Millie's black hair ended up getting cut off at the ends as she barely managed to dodge the attack. Her eyes widened with surprise, definitely not expecting Julius of all people, a stranger, to fight back.
The slash was strong enough to cut through the silver that the palace was made of. But the damage was reversed instantly by the laughing Lucius.
"Oh boy... Seems Millie finally met her match, huh?"
Millie herself was a copy of her father, only that the ends of her hair were a pure white, while the top was completely, dark black like her father's.
Julius stood up, rubbing his jaw in pain, but again, the injuries were healed by none other than Lucius; he really did control everything down to what injuries people had.
"Match? I'll break this girl's neck if she tries something. Equal rights equal fights BITCH!"
Millie grunted, shoving Julius, knowing that her father would just heal any injury that either of them would get, really was a bummer; she wanted to knock Julius out so bad.
"Do not call me that word, human! I am the princess of Intima! I will have your head on a pike!"
Julius resisted the shove. Millie was not only taller but probably older but fuck biology, she may be more physically mature but she can catch these hands.
Julius jumped up, grabbing Millie by the face as he headbutted her straight in the face. But, again, he was teleported back to where he stood, and when he blinked?
The palace changed completely; it was now an open ground with high winds that almost lifted him off his feet again, and grass so green it felt like it had dust from emerald sprinkled on top.
'NOPE. I AM NOT GOING TO GET THROWN AGAIN! I DON'T KNOW HOW I EVEN SURVIVED THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE.'
Lucius was sitting on a throne, casually sipping a cup of tea, completely unaffected by the wind that also sent Millie flying before she caught herself by grabbing hold of the grass.
"You know. When Millie's mother and I, who were from rival families, used to fight. My Grandfather, then King of Intarim, our ancestral land, used to pull this tactic on us. But it's not like you guys aren't trying to kill each other. Right?"
Julius lay down on the ground, but again, he was forced upright by Lucius, who actively held back his laughter. Letting both Julius and Millie suffer in the high wind for their life for a few more minutes, before teleporting them to the palace once more.
"Alright, I had my fun. Now, Millie, say sorry to Julius- I mean. Johan."
What. The. Fuck?
Julius froze up completely; his body refused to move. His eyes slid over to Lucius, who was smiling completely nonchalantly, like he just didn't say Julius' real name. It wasn't mentioned in this world; it was last mentioned 400 years ago. Was he that perceptive that time's passage didn't limit his knowledge?
"Fine.. I apologize. Johan."
Julius didn't care about Millie's apology; he was staring at Lucius, who didn't break eye contact for even a second, before all of a sudden, Lucius and Julius were outside the palace, floating above the city.
"Wondering how I know about your very well-hidden secret, Professor Julius? It's obvious. Anything in Intima becomes part of me. But that's also a weakness. I am Intima."
Julius was still processing all of this reality-bending, and he was getting more and more nauseous. He carried on nonetheless.
"Intima is you, huh? That means you can leave, or this place collapses?"
Lucius leaned back, putting his hands behind his back as he nodded, still carefree as ever. The sun setting behind him, it was truly like they were in a whole other world.
"Exactly, down to every bird, every inhalation of air, every cell dying and forming. I am everything in Intima, after Millie's mother died, to humans, I had no choice but to go ahead and make this world."
Julius nodded; he didn't care about anyone dying to humans. Shit happens after all. But. He was interested in the meat of the conversation.
"And because you wanna be a good dad, you wanna make sure Millie doesn't end up a weakling who'll die due to fighting fodder?"
Lucius again, chuckled in amusement. Shaking his head.
"No. No one will fight her; they wouldn't dare. But she needs to be strong in order to be the queen of Intima in the future. After all her Sigil is the same as her mother's."
Julius' eyebrow perked up, his arms crossed over his chest and he sat down in the sky.
"You know. I wasn't interested in your 'tragic' life. But I've been here for like 4 years. No one tells shit to toddlers, especially dark shit. Why not tell me everything?"
Lucius tilted his head to the side, waiting, thinking it out for a few moments before nodding with a large, beaming grin. He was having fun talking.
"It's the first time I've talked to someone who is actually intelligent and doesn't just praise me for the hell of it, so. I'll return that favor. I've put up clones of me and you in front of Millie. She won't even notice or absence."
