Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Next Signing Location
Daisuke slowly regained consciousness, her eyes fluttering open to find herself lying on the ground in an unfamiliar position. Almost immediately, a sharp pain shot through her head, and memories of being followed and knocked unconscious flooded her mind.
A wave of panic unlike anything she had ever felt swept over her. Terrified, Daisuke tried to stand up, but she quickly realized that despite regaining her senses, her arms and legs felt completely weak and unresponsive.
As her vision adjusted, shadows cast by the moonlight came into view. She strained her eyes to look upward and saw a black-haired teenager standing in front of her.
At the same time, Xu Fan noticed Daisuke.
Their eyes met, and Xu Fan saw fear in Daisuke's gaze. Her eyes began to moisten as her small body instinctively tried to move backward.
The sign-in had already been completed, so Xu Fan could have left Daisuke there. But seeing her expression—weak, pitiful, helpless, and desperate—he couldn't bring himself to do it.
Xu Fan sighed and slowly crouched down. Daisuke flinched, trying to move away from him.
"I'm here to save you," Xu Fan said softly. "It's already okay."
After briefly identifying himself, Xu Fan didn't wait for Daisuke's reaction. He gently picked her up in a princess carry and began walking toward the village.
I'll just drop her off at the entrance of the Kiba Hospital, Xu Fan thought.
If he happened to run into members of the Hyūga clan on the way back, he could hand Daisuke over to them directly.
However, as Xu Fan made his way back, he didn't encounter any members of the Hyūga clan or any pursuers sent by Kiba. He wasn't sure if they hadn't realized Daisuke had been kidnapped yet or if it was simply a matter of taking a different route.
Forget it, I'll just make some noise to alert them.
Boom!
With his immense chakra, Xu Fan clenched his fist and slammed it into the ground, creating a loud shockwave.
Just as Xu Fan was about to turn and leave, Daisuke mustered enough strength to speak.
"Name..." Her voice was barely audible, like the faint buzz of a mosquito.
If it weren't for Xu Fan's sharp hearing and the quiet of the night, he might not have noticed the sound at all. But then again, Daisuke had always been soft-spoken due to her shy nature.
"Senju," Xu Fan replied simply, leaving only his last name before disappearing into the night.
Not long after, the duty officer at the Kiba Hospital, having heard the noise, rushed out to investigate. He was startled to find Daisuke lying on the ground.
"This is... the Hyūga clan's eldest daughter?" the duty officer exclaimed, quickly calling for help to carry Daisuke inside.
Xu Fan, who had been watching from a distance, stood on a nearby pole and observed as Daisuke was taken into the hospital for treatment. Once he was sure she was safe, he turned and left.
Ding! A new sign-in quest has been released!
Host, please check in at the ninja school to receive your reward!
Xu Fan's eyes lit up at the announcement.
Signing in at the ninja school?
Even though he had already obtained Hashirama Senju's chakra, he still only had a massive amount of chakra and no formal training. If he wanted to rise through the ranks of Konoha—or even become Hokage—he first needed to become a ninja.
After all, even Naruto, who was often teased, was at least a genin. As for Xu Fan, he was just an ordinary person from the fallen Senju clan, living in the village without any official status.
Becoming a ninja was the first step toward achieving his goals, and enrolling in the ninja school was the way to do it.
And if the reward for the first sign-in was this generous, maybe the next one will grant me Wood Release.
Hashirama's chakra combined with his Wood Release—that was the true power of the God of Shinobi.
Of course, that was a task for tomorrow. Today, he had already worked hard and deserved to treat himself.
On the other side of the village...
Hyūga Hiashi, the patriarch of the Hyūga clan, led a group of clansmen in pursuit of the kidnappers. They soon arrived at the border of the Land of Fire.
However, the scene that greeted them left Hiashi dumbfounded.
Large swaths of the forest had been reduced to wasteland.
"Could this be the work of a Tailed Beast Bomb...?" Hiashi muttered, sucking in a sharp breath of cold air. He quickly ordered his men to search the area.
"Clan Chief!" one of the Hyūga clansmen called out.
Within minutes, thanks to their Byakugan, they had found something.
"This is..." Hiashi rushed over, only to find the remains of the Cloud ninja.
But "remains" was an understatement. The bodies were more like chunks of meat, barely recognizable.
It took considerable effort to identify the corpses as members of the Cloud Ninja Village.
"What on earth happened here...?" Hiashi muttered, utterly confused.
Had the jinchūriki gone on a rampage and killed their own allies? How else could this scene be explained?
"Could it be... the one from the legends?" one of the Hyūga clansmen speculated.
Everyone knew that the Land of Lightning had a perfect jinchūriki, so the possibility of a rampage seemed low.
"Jiraiya-sama?" Hiashi frowned. If it was the Toad Sage of Mount Myōboku, he could certainly cause this level of destruction.
But how did that explain the overwhelming chakra they had felt earlier?
"Expand the search," Hiashi ordered after a moment of silence.
No matter who was responsible, he needed to find his daughter.
However, after some time, another member of the Hyūga clan arrived at the scene.
"Clan Chief!" the newcomer called out.
"Hinata? What are you doing here?" Hiashi asked, surprised to see his younger brother.
"It's about Daisuke," Hinata replied, catching his breath.
"Daisuke? What happened to Daisuke?" Hiashi's emotions immediately flared. Whether as his daughter or the future of the Hyūga clan, Daisuke's safety was of utmost importance.
"She was taken to the Konoha Hospital," Hinata explained.
"Daisuke was taken to the hospital?" Hiashi repeated, his mind racing.
Could it really have been Lord Jiraiya?
"Hinata, gather the bodies of the Cloud ninja and bring them back to the village," Hiashi ordered. Without waiting for a response, he turned and rushed back to the village.
As Hinata had said, Daisuke was lying on a hospital bed, receiving treatment.
Not only that, but the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, and the advisor, Homura Mitokado, had also arrived.
"Hokage-sama," Hiashi greeted before immediately asking about Daisuke's condition.
"She's fine now. She's just in shock and needs rest," the nurse replied.
"Who brought her here?" Hiashi pressed.
This question was on everyone's mind—not just Hiashi's, but also the Third Hokage's and Homura's.
"We're not sure," the nurse replied after a moment of thought. "But while Miss Daisuke was unconscious, she mentioned 'Senju' a few times."
"What?!" Hiashi, the Third Hokage, and Homura all froze.
