Chapter 561 560: Unparalleled
Three days went by after Corey learnt about the spirit world, spiritual energy, and spirit bodies from Dave, and those three days were some of the most peaceful days Corey, Dave, and Divine had ever had from the moment they appeared in the Shattered Dimension of the Old Ones.
Melissa and Old Man Poison met Divine and Dave the day the bell chimed, and to say they were not surprised seeing both men in Corey's room would be a lie.
After catching up and discussing some unimportant matters to ease up the stress and tension everybody had in them, Corey ruthlessly told Divine and Dave to get their rooms.
They were stunned and in disbelief when they heard this, and despite their attempts to change Corey's decision and mind, Corey was ruthless and did not change his mind at all.
There were two reasons for this.
The first was because he had secrets and wanted to perform some things that were unsuitable for him to perform in the midst of others.
The second was because Dave and Divine had enough money to rent their rooms in the inn. They just wanted to freeload off him.
After sending Divine and Dave away, Corey pondered on what his next course of action should be.
He was tempted and curious to enter his spiritual sea of consciousness so as to see whether he had a spirit body or he could find the gate to the spirit realm, however, from the warnings and words of Dave, he chose not to do so.
His experience with his failed teleportation spell and the void was still fresh in his mind, so he knew there could be terrible consequences if he tried to go to the spirit world unprepared and without sufficient knowledge.
Knowing that till he knew more about the spirit world, spiritual energy, and spirit bodies, he could not perform any rash experiments, he decided to focus on something else.
Increasing his battle prowess by improving the skill proficiency of some skills before going to the Stairs of Ascension.
According to Nina, there was one more Infinity Crystal left in the Shattered Dimension, and the Infinity Crystal was a Fire Infinity Crystal.
Corey had the urge to take it, however, he could not. Not only was the location far from where he was, but his time limit was almost up.
He had twelve more days to leave the Shattered Dimension, advance to Tier 3, and then fully awaken his Void Phoenix Heart.
Twelve days was not enough for him to obtain the Fire Infinity Crystal, and then climb the Stairs of Ascension.
Corey had a feeling that there would be danger in trying to climb the Stairs of Ascension, and because of this, he knew that he had to increase his battle prowess.
He chose to increase his proficiency in the skills- Infinite Mirage, Arcane Elemental Runweaving, Runic Transmutation, Silent Steps, Dreamfire Manipulation, Vibration Manipulation, Poison Manipulation, and his Axe Intent.
Improving the proficiency of these skills was not going to be easy in the slightest because most of them were already at high proficiency levels. However, Corey knew he could do it with all his Stars of Consciousness working at full capacity.
There was another skill Corey wanted to improve, and that was Soul Entropy, but the problem he had in improving his proficiency in Soul Entropy was that he needed more knowledge on the soul and he also needed test subjects to see how best to improve the skill.
Improving Infinite Mirage was not difficult for him because of the virtual simulation room in the Perceptual Nexus Repository.
He could conjure any environment and situation to battle in the virtual simulation room, and because of this, creating an almost perfect illusion, especially with his Stars of Consciousness was an easy thing for him.
While he was in the Shattered Sea, the proficiency of Infinite Mirage had improved from Advanced to Master level skill proficiency, and in the three days of rest and practice he had, he was able to improve the skill to the next level, Unparalleled.
The next skill that was easy for him to improve was Silent Steps.
If Corey was to be sincere with himself, Silent Steps was not really useful for him, mainly because he was always fighting beings who were multiple tiers above his level. However, because Corey knew that it was going to be easy for him to increase his proficiency in it, he decided to improve it.
Your journey continues on My Virtual Library Empire
Improving this skill was easy for him because of his Ears of Omniscience.
His Ears of Omniscience could hear almost anything, depending on how much focus and energy he put into it. If he wanted, Corey could hear everything that was going on in the City of Veyrith and even the entire Shattered Dimension.
However, if he did so, especially with the entire Shattered DImension, his brain would be overloaded even with his numerous Stars of Consciousness, and he would most likely die.
Corey always maintained his Ears of Omniscience with his Stars of Consciousness, and he made sure to filter most of what he heard through his Stars of Consciousness.
With his Ears of Omniscience, Corey was able to improve Silent Steps by making sure the sound he made with his steps, either when he ran, jumped, walked, or made any slight movement with his legs, produced extremely faint sounds.
Although he did all of this, it wasn't perfect for him because if he increased the output and focus of his Ears of Omniscience, he would still be able to hear faint sounds his steps made.
At the end of the day, he increased the skill proficiency of Silent Steps from Intermediate to Unparalled in less than a day.
The next two skills that were somewhat easy for him to improve in proficiency were Arcane Elemental Runeweaving and Runic Transmutation.
When it came to these two skills that involved runes, what Corey mainly relied on to improve his proficiency was his Eyes of Omniscience which allowed him to see runes, his Cosmic Soul which allowed him to manipulate runes, and his numerous Stars of Consciousness which gave him the computational ability to understand and manipulate runes.
When it came to improving his understanding of runes, Corey took it seriously and made sure he understood what he could to the best of his abilities.
With the knowledge he gained in the Shattered Dimension regarding runes and the like, Corey had a feeling that runes would soon become a major part of his abilities and power.
The power, mysteries, and complexity of runes were unfathomable to him, and the more he studied runes, although they were purely elemental runes, he had a feeling that runes were the cores and pillars of reality and existence.
In three days, he was able to improve his proficiency in Arcane Elemental Runeweaving and Runic Transmutation from Master to Unparalleled level.
