Chapter 321: Section 320 - Flesh Sample
```
"Ugh, the smell here is really strong!"
As the rotor blades gradually stopped spinning, the stench rose once again into the sky. "Miso" Yamada Yuhu, who just came down from the helicopter, instantly regretted not bringing a gas mask as he covered his nose.
The terrible odor almost made him lose his balance, it was the first time he had encountered such an awful smell.
Are these mutants some kind of biochemical weapon? Dead and still not peaceful.
His co-driver, the young local "Zisu" Takada Fuziko, wasn't new to such a bloody carnage scene, yet her little face turned pale and she instinctively moved closer to Big Brother Yamada.
Squad Leader Yamada casually wrapped his arm around this girl who liked eating cat food, gave her a tight hug, and said, "Hey! Fuziko, don't be afraid, they're dead as doornails!"
A pinch of bonito flakes with some soy sauce over rice is cheaper than beef bowls at Matsuya or Yoshinoya, this girl is easy to feed.
(My cousin saw the price of pre-shaved bonito flakes at a 711 store in Japan, which seemed like the amount for ten bowls is equivalent to one portion of a Matsuya beef bowl. I never tried Yoshinoya, but beef bowls in Japan are as popular as Lanzhou noodles)
"Jiu!"
Little Bird hopped onto Chen Fei's shoulder, utterly indifferent to the pungent smell.
The insects it liked to eat smelled much worse, and it still gobbled them up without a second thought.
It flapped its little wings and landed nearby, constantly looking around for a few delicious insects to snack on. Despite having specially-made pellets, live insects were still its favorite treats.
"Hss!~ What on earth happened here? Did it rain blood?"
Biological Researcher Ruan Er Song, slinging a sample case, looked down at his feet, stepping on a piece of who-knows-what organ fragment, surrounded by bloodstains, and bits of flesh and bone scattered everywhere.
Chen Fei said with an unperturbed expression, "First round of machine guns and rockets took out about half, the last 500-pound bomb cleared the field."
Opening fire with the entire Rocket Nest was a highly successful tactic, but unfortunately, only his Aircraft 211 was firing at full strength at that time. If the "Genuine Fragrance" squadron's other "Big Mouth Monsters" had also unleashed their Rocket Nests, they might have cleared the target in one round.
"500-pounds? These things landed?"
Ruan Er Song looked around and didn't see any conspicuous shell casings, nor did he smell the persistent acrid scent of gunpowder.
He couldn't understand where exactly the 500-pound aerial bomb went off.
"Threw it into a mutant's mouth, straight down the throat."
Chen Fei chuckled, who would expect the silly mutant to open wide, and it was just a casual toss, which actually hit the target, involving quite a bit of luck.
The term "deep throat," although descriptive, carried a certain ambiguity.
"Hss, that was really life-threatening."
Upon visualizing that scene in his mind, Biological Researcher Ruan Er Song's skin crawled at the thought, the brutality of it all.
Having blasted the Mutant Flying Species into such a state, he couldn't guarantee that he would be able to collect DNA samples from every Pseudo-Dragon FA-143. He could only try to pick parts of skulls, which tend to be relatively hard and easier to identify, ignoring the flesh and organs, unable to tell which belonged to which, he simply disregarded them.
```
"Hurry up, the beasts are coming back!"
Yamada Yuhu, carrying an automatic rifle, was on guard nearby.
The defensive strength still depended on Chen Fei and Little Bird; he was only responsible for firing warning shots. If a real situation emerged, it wasn't his turn to step in.
The birds and beasts that had been scared off by the helicopter's commotion were sneaking back, taking three cautious steps at a time, overall inching closer and closer. Surrounding them was a cacophony of squeaks and squawks, mixed with sounds of gorging.
As long as it was a carnivorous animal, none was easy to deal with. Stimulated by the flesh and blood of the mutants, the ravenous wild beasts went mad, even killing each other, adding to the feast.
"Awoo!~"
Without large predators, wolf packs had become the primary apex predators of the Xingdu Kush Mountain Area.
"There are wolves!"
Takada Fuziko, clutching an automatic rifle and guarding the Z-9 armed helicopter, felt her calves trembling uncontrollably; those terrifying animals gnawing on the mutant flesh made her empathically uneasy.
And there were snarling evil wolves, staring fiercely back at her.
However, the most numerous were still the crows. Crows that had fed on corpses often grew bolder, daring to approach even in the presence of humans and even audaciously snatching a few bites.
"Wolves?"
Chen Fei quickly spotted the gray wolves that had joined the bloody feast and walked straight over, skillfully extending a familiar hand.
Pat on the head to kill!
But this time he did not bring a collar, so it would have to wait until next time. At the Aircrew Base nearby, a significant number of gray wolves had been fitted with collars equipped with tracking devices for identification.
Beyond emitting a growl to guard its food, the Asian Gray Wolf showed no intention of resisting, allowing Chen Fei to scratch its forehead and ears while it continued to devour the flesh.

It was confirmed, their own wolf, but without a collar. It must be their second encounter. All was well, all was well!
The vast wolf pack swept by "Ah Mao," the Shadow Wolf, actually came from every corner of the Xingdu Kush Mountain Area, growing like a snowball rolling down a hill. After their defeat, Chen Fei dispersed them. The temporarily assembled wolf packs naturally went their own ways, as the Xingdu Kush Mountain Area couldn't sustain so many wolves.
"Eh!"
Takada Fuziko watched, dumbfounded, as Chen Fei patted the wolves on the head, one by one, like they were his own dogs.
Since when were the fierce wolves of the mountains so obedient.
Of course, there were disobedient ones too. A few kicks made them settle down and get patted. Perhaps they weren't even part of Chen Fei's Wolf King's pack, having snuck into the group from who knows where. They were quite confused themselves, but seeing the other wolves not resisting, they too stupidly allowed their heads to be patted.
"Okay, they're all our wolves."
Chen Fei confirmed his dominion over all the gray wolves.
A pat on the head represented dominance. The hierarchy within the wolf pack was clear. Having patted them all, he once again consolidated his prestige as the Wolf King.
Among these wild beasts, the greatest threat was the Asian Gray Wolf, but now that it was subdued by Chen Fei, the Biological Researcher Ruan Er Song hurriedly scribbled around a pile of broken meat to obtain the blood samples he wanted. After a quick count, he shouted towards Chen Fei, "That's all, I only found fifteen heads."
"The rest were probably blown to smithereens,"
Chen Fei guessed that whether it was the rocket shells or the 500-pound aerial bombs, they were enough to blast the heads of those makeshift Flying Dragons to pieces.
"Then there's nothing we can do,"
Ruan Er Song had no choice but to pack up the sampling tools, ready to close up shop.
Just at this moment, a flash of light streaked by, and a large flock of crow-like creatures squawked as they took to flight.
"Ah!" "Ah!" "Ah!" "Ah!"
These guys had just tried to bully Xiao Jiu, who also sported black feathers. Little Black bullying Little Black, with no psychological pressure at all, only to be scared witless by a "Light Burst Flash" and scattered in all directions.
Ordinary beasts and birds stood no chance in front of a Magical Beast.
The noise of the crows gave Yamada Yuhu a pounding headache, and he said irritably, "These caws are so damn depressing!"
His words didn't sound like those of a Dongying person at all.
Takada Fuziko said with palpable fear, "Miso, let's hurry back!"
Even with a gun in hand and comrades by her side, the terrifying howling of ghosts and wolves still scared her greatly.
"It's okay, Fuziko-chan!"
Yamada Yuhu then gave the little sister a comforting head pat before shouting at the Biological Researcher who was trudging back with the sample case: "Hey, are you done yet?"
More and more wild beasts were gathering around, most likely from within a fifty-mile radius. Carnivores and scavengers were all converging here. The flesh of these mutants probably wasn't enough to satisfy them, and a bloody fight was likely to ensue. Some of the animals, driven mad by hunger, might even turn their attention to the humans.
"Done! Prepare for takeoff!"
Ruan Er Song reached the cabin door of the Z-9 armed helicopter, threw his sample case aboard with a thud,
Several mutants were now unidentifiable; he just randomly picked some and decided to bet on his luck when he got back.
Takada Fuziko breathed a sigh of relief, glad that it was finally over.
Chen Fei called back Little Bird, which had been picking on the crows, and was about to board when he heard a faint noise rapidly approaching from behind. He turned to see a dozen or more Asian Gray Wolves panting as they ran over, each with a bloody chunk of flesh in their jaws.
"Miso, don't rush to start the engine!"
Chen Fei raised his hand to stop Squad Leader Yamada from starting the Z-9's engine, fearing that the loud noise might scare away these purpose-unknown wolves.
"What do these wolves want to do?"
Through the windshield, Yamada Yuhu and Takada Fuziko saw the wolves, bold enough to approach the human aircraft.
The wolves came before Chen Fei, each stepping forward in turn and laying down the meat they carried in their mouths.
This was a tribute, offering the choicest, most succulent meat to the Wolf King.
Wolves are straightforward with each other, unlike the scheming of humans, and only show their cunning while hunting their prey.
"So that's it, thanks a lot. You guys keep the meat for yourselves!"
After guessing the intention of the wolves, Chen Fei patted each of their heads in turn. The wolves obediently lowered their heads and drooled; if it weren't for the rank of the Wolf King holding them back, there would have been a deadly fight over the spoils.
But the vicious wolves were unmoved, one of them looking quizzically at Chen Fei, nudging the meat with its nose, signaling the Wolf King to eat it while it was fresh.
"Haha, I don't eat this stuff! Eh?"
As Chen Fei laughed, his gaze fell on the chunk of meat, and he expressed a tiny bit of surprise.
He turned back to the cabin, and said, "Expert Ruan, bring the biggest sample box here."
The title of expert was a joke, nothing more.
"What, something has been found?"
Ruan Er Song realized immediately that Chen Fei would not ask for a sample container without reason. It had to be an important discovery.
He quickly opened the sample case and handed over the container in a flurry.
"Seems like a bit like a biological chip, let's bring it back for analysis!"
Chen Fei picked up the meat, tossed it into the sample container, then sealed it and handed it back to the researcher from the base.
He had spotted something shiny and geometrically patterned on the surface of the meat, with vague circuit-like textures, very suspicious, so he collected it for the experts to analyze.
This chunk of meat was probably an unexpected find, and if it turned out to be what he suspected, this wolf might be credited with a significant contribution.
Chen Fei thought for a moment, turned his finger into a blade, and parted the fur of the wolf pack leader, making it recognizable for next time. This move was quite mischievous.
As for what the wolf was really thinking, WHO CARES?
"Biological chip? These mutants have biological chips implanted?"
Ruan Er Song's eyes almost bulged out, as he clumsily caught the sample container, struck by the magnitude of Chen Fei's previous statement.
"Mutants are cultivated by people all the time; implanting chips is nothing unusual, it could be a method of control."
To Chen Fei, this was not surprising at all. He patted the wolf pack leader's head, then turned and boarded the helicopter, patting Squad Leader Yamada's seat.
"Take off!"
"You got it!"
The engine of the Z-9 armed helicopter roared to life, the blades spinning faster and faster, and the bold wolves immediately fled in terror, even forgetting the chunks of meat on the ground.
