Chapter 508: Section 504 - Leave Professional Matters to Professionals
The soldiers of the Gaul military entered White Truffle Town with extreme caution, spending over an hour searching and clearing the area. It was only after nightfall that they finally completed a thorough occupation and took real control of the situation.
The remaining town residents numbered less than four hundred, with several leaders successively replaced by external forces, totaling five or six replacements.
The last leader selected toppled mentally, under both psychological and physiological stress, forcing him to eventually surrender by raising a white flag (a white shirt).
If the battle had continued, the surviving three hundred or so people would likely not have seen the sun the next day.
One side was willing to die, and the other side was willing to bury.
After the battle ended, the captives were shackled in heavy fetters and boarded onto a Sky Patrol Ship, preparing to be sent away, geographically speaking, not physically.
Regardless of whether they were Ability Users or not, regardless of any injuries, each captive was injected with a Supernatural Ability Suppressant and administered a drug that suppressed spiritual power.
For a Mage, without spiritual power, having abundant Magic Power is useless; their Battle Qi could also be affected and would likely be reduced by at least half.
Under the vigilant supervision of war Professionals, wielding swords and glaring, none dared to cause trouble. Any slight misbehavior was met with immediate beheading.
Next, this self-sufficient, secluded town would completely disappear from the map, perhaps it was never even on the map to begin with. Public opinion would know nothing, they would only know what they should know, and any further inquiries would be dismissed as drills.
Earth Element Users and Wood System Ability Users will work together to erase all man-made traits here, allowing vegetation to cover everything, as if decades or even centuries had passed in an instant. No one would remember there was ever a town called White Truffle here.
The Huntsman Squad, which had been like invisible spectators on the hillside outside the town all day, hurriedly left under the cover of night.
The Gaul Sovereignty sent a Sky Patrol Ship to take them directly to their originally planned destination to continue their mission.
The previous target, Aircrew Base 631 and its contractor, Mental Health Knights Corporation, hadn't shown any new developments; however, nearby at Aircrew Base 633, more specifically, its contractor, Sulte Defense Co., Ltd, initiated trouble first.
Perhaps feeling they could ingratiate themselves with the Blue Star Global United Defense Committee, they hastily filed for corporate warfare and immediately declared war on Aircrew Base 631, figuring they had to fight sooner or later, so they might as well strike first.
Sulte Defense Co., Ltd thought they could handle it, so Aircrew Base 633 launched a forceful attack.
The next moment, they were beaten back severely, the Combat Flight Squadron lost more than half its forces, and even the squadron leader was killed, leaving no trace of his remains.
This fiercely aggressive move was simply phenomenal!
Words are insufficient to describe the mysterious war between Aircrew Base 631 and Aircrew Base 633; such foolish mess isn't even worth commenting on by Miyoshi Xuesen. He printed the first phase report into documents, circulated them internally for self-interpretation.
After thoroughly reading the report, which was neither too thin nor too thick, Chen Fei's eyes twitched, and his lips curled, saying, "Truly dammit..."
Anyone with a bit of brain would not end up in such a ridiculous state.
One moment mocking the amateurish Gaul soldiers, and the next seeing his peers perform equally disgraceful actions, truly a disgrace to military contractors.
It's a wonder how such military contractors managed to secure contracts for an Aircrew Base; according to industry rules, they should have been wiped out long ago.
"It really is, really is leveraging power through affiliation!"
Tuert quickly glanced over the report, treating it like a foolish prank show on April Fool's Day, eager to show off in front of the Blue Star Global United Defense Committee, only to fail miserably.
Then he shoved the report aside, passing it to the young and beautiful Masuya.
After reading it, she curled her lips and said, "Do we really have to go?"
Clearly disdainful of the arrogant yet incompetent Sulte Defense Co., Ltd, having them contract Aircrew Base 633 was a total waste.
"Of course we have to go, but only to clean up the mess."
Miyoshi Monk scratched his shiny bald head, the nine scars itching. Dealing with such an incompetent collaborator was really frustrating.
He again had to figure out a way to support this mess, as it had been pre-arranged and though it was flawed, it could keep secrets at least.
Being able to collaborate with the Blue Star Global United Defense Committee on hunting missions, this company likely had connections within the Joint Defense Committee. Although Miyoshi didn't say it outright, people like Chen Fei, who were somewhat worldly-wise, could mostly guess some of it.
"We in the military contracting business, to be precise, should be called one and a half."
Miyoshi Xuesen's gaze made a full circle before landing on Chen Fei and Aunt Caroline.
Chen Fei was a bonafide employee of a military contractor, bound by a standard service contract, but Aunt Caroline was not; it was her son who was involved in the military contracting business, having followed in his father's footsteps, making her only tangentially related, normally just a bona fide housewife.
Had it not been for her son's company facing significant losses, making it difficult to continue operations, Caroline would not have joined the Huntsman Squad to earn some extra money.
"Therefore, when it comes to military contractors and the Aircrew Base, Little Chen should be more familiar."
Everyone's eyes simultaneously turned towards Chen Fei.
"Just do it!"
Chen Fei had nothing good to say, merely spread his hands and shrugged.
Under the leadership of Major Chekhov of Combat Flight Squadron "Genuine Fragrance", the combat principle was always one word: "Act"!
Day in and day out, what else could Chen Xiao'er learn but just that?
It really was hard for him, originally a Bachelor's student in economics.
The others exchanged glances, probably imagining that the ninja hiding in the shadows would react similarly.
"Chen Fei joined the 633 Aircrew Base Combat Flight Squadron, I took over the command of Sulte Defense Co., Ltd., Andrew, Masuya, Tuert, and Caroline approached Aircrew Base 631, ready to strike at any moment—air-to-ground united, to directly eliminate the opponent."
The Huntsman Squad had already been exposed, still stuck in a state of confusion with their crashed ship. Miyoshi Xuesen was no longer interested in playing tricks with the targets on the hunting list.
Moreover, the Gaul Army's operations targeting White Truffle Town had already deeply alarmed the "Water Bear" organization, so they had to take advantage of the latter not being fully aware yet to quickly solve problems decisively and take down several key members on the list. It could severely cripple this long-hidden mysterious organization and even hinder its capability to organize a counterattack.
"I have no objections, but... can you provide some more Magic Arrays?"
Chen Fei raised his hand, having no problem leading the flight squadron, provided he could strike a hard bargain.
The several Magic Arrays he had were mostly of negligible use—unappetizing but a waste to throw away, they barely functioned when combined, and even then with limited effectiveness.
"Impossible!"
Miyoshi Xuesen decisively refused.
The Blue Star Global United Defense Committee was not a sovereign entity, although supported by many sovereigns, it was also supervised by them. Magic Arrays, being such sensitive items, could hardly be mishandled carelessly.
The sovereign states dare to provide, but the Blue Star Global United Defense Committee certainly did not have the courage to touch the high voltage line, not even stepping half a step over the thunder pond.
"Alright then!"
With his probe unsuccessful, Chen Fei spoke no further.
12 hours later, the Huntsman Squad was directly transported to the 633 Aircrew Base in the western part of the Europa Continent by the Gaul Sovereignty's Sky Patrol Ship. It was only upon landing that they realized the Aircrew Base had been devastated, having just been hammered by Aircrew Base 631—it was indeed a sorry sight.
Luckily, the Sky Patrol Ship did not require a runway and could take off and land vertically; any flat ground sufficed. Otherwise, just looking at the main runway, full of large and small craters and mostly destroyed, was rather daunting.
When the Huntsman Squad landed, the executive manager of the 633 Aircrew Base, head swathed in a blood-soaked bandage, jogged unsteadily towards them, stumbling and falling into a few face-plants along the way, still heedlessly coming to greet the "reinforcements" from all military contractors.
Reinforcements, theoretically.
If it weren't for targeting the 631 Aircrew Base and the Mental Health Knights Corporation, Blue Star Global United Defense Committee wouldn't dispatch such a force to personally intervene, after all, being both a player and a referee is easily frowned upon.
The executive manager of the 633 Aircrew Base hadn't even come close when a four-wheeled electric car, arriving later but moving faster, ran over him from his heels to the back of his head, crushing him completely. The injuries compounded, and this time he truly couldn't get up.
"Welcome, welcome, I am the general manager of Sulte Defense Co., Ltd, Besman Hubs, welcome, everyone!"
The driver, with a smile on his face, constantly rubbed his hands in front of the Huntsman Squad, without any intention of looking back at the unfortunate manager.
Damn capitalist!
