Chapter 53: Slam Dunk: Opening Template Kise Ryota Chapter 052

"Oh my god! What did I just see? Kenichi Uesugi actually threw the ball into the opponent's basket from the baseline!"

"That's unbelievable! How did he even do that?!"

"This can't be real. I must be hallucinating!"

The crowd was in disbelief, some even slapping themselves to check if they were imagining things. But when they looked again, the shot was real.

"It has to be luck! No way can someone make a shot from that far out!"

Some fans were trying to rationalize the moment, attributing the basket to coincidence or fluke. However, everyone in the stadium, regardless of their opinions, was visibly shocked by Kenichi Uesugi's long-range three-pointer.

On the sidelines, Shohoku's players were still speechless, all stunned by the moment. Only Coach Anzai seemed to fully appreciate the gravity of the shot, excitement shining in his eyes.

"I never thought his talent would evolve so dramatically," he remarked, his voice filled with admiration. "Even Tanizawa's talent doesn't compare to his, not even one-tenth!"

Meanwhile, on the Kainan bench, the mood had changed from celebration to one of confusion. The substitute players, who had previously been confident in their team's victory, now fell silent. They couldn't ignore the immense power of Uesugi's shot.

Takato Riki, who had been boasting about controlling the game, now had a look of complete discomfort. His earlier statements had been quickly slapped down by Uesugi's sudden brilliance.

A substitute player tried to offer a rational explanation. "That shot must've been pure luck, right? How can anyone score from that distance?"

"Yeah, it must be a fluke," another murmured, though doubt lingered in the air.

But as Takato thought about Uesugi's creepy smile and how effortlessly he scored, the realization began to set in: Uesugi might be hiding even greater strength.

On the court, the Kainan players were in a daze, unable to comprehend what had just happened. Even after Maki's free throw, they quickly scrambled back on defense, focusing on preventing a fast break. But before they could even reach their own half, Kenichi Uesugi had already made another shot.

The Ryonan players were no better off. They hadn't seen how Uesugi made his basket either. All they knew was that halfway through their attack, the ball suddenly flew into the basket and they were awarded a three-pointer.

Confusion spread as the scoreboard flashed. After a stunned pause, the crowd erupted in murmurs of disbelief.

"It's real... he can actually make the shot from that distance!" one fan shouted.

Back in the game, Kainan quickly resumed their offense. Maki brought the ball up and passed to Takasago, who had been contained by Yuzumi earlier. But with Yuzumi now off the court, Sugahira was no match for Takasago, so Kainan focused on their interior game.

Takasago received the pass, faked out Sugahira, and prepared for a dunk. But out of nowhere, Kenichi Uesugi appeared in front of him, looking like a purple-haired giant.

With one powerful swipe, Uesugi blocked Takasago's dunk, sending him crashing to the floor. The ball flew out past the three-point line, and Kiyota Nobunaga reacted quickly, grabbing the ball and moving to the other side of the court.

"I finally get my chance to show off!" Kiyota thought, preparing for a shot. Throughout the game, he had been overshadowed by Uesugi, and now, with the ball in his hands, he didn't want to miss this opportunity.

Just as Kiyota went up for his shot, Uesugi flashed in front of him, blocking the ball with ease. The crowd gasped, stunned by how fast he had moved.

Once again, Uesugi had shut down Kainan's attack.

"Wow! Kenichi Uesugi just blocked two shots in a row!" a fan exclaimed.

"He's so fast! He was just under the basket, and now he's already up near the three-point line!"

"How does he do it? He's unstoppable!"

On the court, Uekusa quickly grabbed the ball after the block and started to push the fast break. He called out, "Nice block, Kenichi!"

But just as he was about to initiate the counterattack, he heard Uesugi's voice from behind. "Pass the ball to me."

Uekusa hesitated. Usually, Kenichi Uesugi would take the ball and bring it down the court himself. Was it a good idea to slow down the fast break?

Trusting Uesugi, he passed the ball to him. Then, to everyone's surprise, Uesugi took a shot from nearly half-court without hesitation.

"Here we go again!" the crowd murmured. "The ball hasn't even crossed half court!"

As the ball soared through the air, it felt almost impossible. Yet, once again, it dropped perfectly through the hoop.

The arena exploded in a roar of excitement.

"Unbelievable! He did it again!"

"He's for real! That wasn't luck, that was skill!"

For Kainan, this moment marked the turning point. The players were reeling, their hopes dwindling as Ryonan's lead reached double digits.

The Kainan players couldn't believe it. They had thought they were in control, but now, faced with Uesugi's performance, doubt began to creep in. Could they even win this game?

Takato Riki's face was twisted in anger, completely overwhelmed by Kenichi Uesugi's relentless defense and scoring. He had never expected Kenichi Uesugi to be so dominant.

"This is impossible! Absolutely impossible!" he shouted, his frustration mounting.

On the other hand, Tanaka Shigeichi was in a better mood, seeing how Uesugi's brilliance had brought Ryonan back into the lead. But there was one lingering worry: how long could Uesugi's stamina hold up?

As the game continued, Kainan was left scrambling. Even their best efforts couldn't break through Uesugi's impenetrable defense. As Maki attempted another shot, Uesugi once again blocked him, leaving Kainan with no answers.

The players on the court were beginning to despair. If Maki, their star player, couldn't score, what hope did they have?

Uesugi had transformed from a surprising force to the undeniable star of the game, and Kainan could do nothing but watch in awe.
