Sorcerer: I want to be an Academic Prodigy

Chapter 264: The Centennial Pact

"Cough cough, Your Excellency, it's not that I'm belittling myself, it's just that such a significant matter as saving you is truly beyond my capabilities," Ivan coughed twice to cover up his embarrassment and then spoke with sincere earnestness.

Seeing a flash of anger cross the other's face, becoming dangerous, Ivan quickly coughed again to mask his faux pas and continued to speak sincerely.

"Recognizing one's own strength is a commendable thing," said Mavis, well aware of her charm and not taking offense at his rudeness. "We can make an agreement that once you are powerful enough, then you can fulfill it."

"If that's the case, I can consider agreeing, but I need to understand more to avoid breaking my word later," Ivan said thoughtfully.

"No problem, you must have some guesses," Mavis said unhurriedly: "In fact, I come from another world—Fairy World, and I am an ancient natural spirit."

As it turned out, Mavis was indeed a goddess, born not in Danaila World but in another vast world. She held multiple divine positions and titles, one of which was 'God of Spring.'

Because of this divine position, she was hunted by certain individuals.

After a fierce battle, she was defeated and then exiled to an inter-world layer, where she was sealed for a long time.

She tried many ways to save herself and projected much of her power onto alien planes, with the current statue being one of them.

"Wait, are you saying that I should go to some layer of the Fairy World to find your true body and then help you escape trouble, isn't that so?" After listening to her account, Ivan felt a dryness in his throat.

"Correct," Mavis nodded slightly.

"What level of strength will I need to free you from your plight?" he asked.

"According to the universal classification of the Star Realm, at least a Level 4 Sorcerer, Level 5-6 would be even better."

"This----that means you will have to wait a long time," Ivan didn't know what to say. He didn't even know if he could become a Level 4 Sorcerer, yet she dared to make an agreement with him.

To be honest, his mind was a bit muddled.

"Hehe, what you think is a very long time may just be a nap for me, you needn't worry too much about it," Mavis laughed lightly, and with that laugh, even the surrounding space seemed to be refreshed, as if a faint fragrance wafted through.

Seeing this, Ivan inwardly praised her; she must be a character favored by heaven and earth, able to influence her surroundings with every word and deed. This time, he did not act rudely.

"However, the Fairy World has always been troubled, and my enemies are certainly trying to find ways to destroy me. If we delay, things are likely to change, so I hope you can appear as soon as possible. Let's set a hundred-year timeframe."

"A hundred years is enough for you to become a strong person."

"Don't think about refusing. The curse mark on you was left by a being not weaker than I, also from the Fairy World. If you want to resolve the issue thoroughly, you have to visit the Fairy World sooner or later; otherwise, your fate will be extremely miserable."

Without waiting for Ivan to say anything, Mavis unilaterally threw out a hundred-year agreement and emphasized the reason why he had to go to the Fairy World no matter what.

"Can't you completely resolve this curse mark?" Ivan suddenly felt uneasy.

"What do you think? Strictly speaking, this curse is not a curse. It originates from the Fairy World as a life test for the native beings. You think it's a curse because you are not a creature of the Fairy World, and it can be considered a world-class curse," Mavis explained.

"Ah?" Ivan's eyes widened.

This was totally beyond his expectations. Damn that Toyennes, if his body was still around, he felt like he would need to dig it up and whip it to vent his frustration; it was such a scam.

"To rid yourself of a power involving the Fairy World, you must go there. However, I can seal it for a while for you, so you won't be troubled by the curse mark," Mavis said as if she hadn't noticed the change in his expression.

"For a while?"

"A hundred years, so that being won't be able to find your existence."

Hearing it was for a hundred years, Ivan felt a little bit better.

Then, he thought of another problem. The curse mark wasn't only on him; Justine and Pearney had it too, as did the rapid wood silkworm tribe.

Unless he completely avoided these connections, he couldn't guarantee the perpetrator behind it all wouldn't track him down following those links.

"Is there anything else?"

"Ah! The curse mark is not just on me-----" Ivan immediately opened up about his concerns without hiding them.

"What are they to you?" Mavis seemed to have anticipated this.

"My wives," he said.

"There is a way to solve this, your curse mark is far superior to theirs, and there is a connection between them, it all depends on whether you are willing to take all the curse's power upon yourself?"

"But, I am willing to bear it alone."

"Let them come here, I can help you one more time."

"Thank you, Your Grace."

This solved his greatest worry, and Ivan expressed his thanks earnestly.

When the others approached, he stepped out to greet them specially, and gave a few instructions to prevent anyone from offending the deity inside inadvertently, for one should always maintain due respect for the powerful.

Justine, Pearney, and the Silkworm Queen said that they disagreed with the transfer of the curse mark when they heard him say he wanted to move it, it must not be borne by him alone.

However, no one could oppose a decision made by Ivan.

After convincing them, the three came to the plaza.

The presence of Mavis naturally awed everyone, fortunately, Ivan had given instructions, and nothing untoward happened.

"Stretch out your arm."

Mavis glanced at the two women, and under her guidance, Ivan revealed the Curse of Demon's Resentment mark on his arm.

Seeing this, Justine and Pearney also revealed their curse marks.

Mavis stretched out her delicate hand, her jade-white fingers gently touching Ivan's curse mark.

Following the connection between the marks, strands of demonic resentment were drawn over, the curse marks on the two women's arms visibly reduced at a speed visible to the naked eye, while Ivan's curse mark rapidly increased, growing darker and more profound.

"That's enough."

After a while, Mavis lifted her fingers.

Ivan sensed for a moment and found that the marks on Justine and Pearney had indeed been eradicated, and the same for the Silkworm Queen, Scented Butterfly, and Wind Moth, though the three bugs were weakened a bit, it wasn't by much. Stay tuned with My Virtual Library Empire

Facing the worried gazes of the two women, Ivan signaled them to wait outside for him.

There were still things unexplained.

"Thank you, Your Grace."

"I will seal the curse mark for you, so that person will not harass you anymore."

Mavis slightly opened her lips, and a wondrous chant filled the air, as if it were a voice from the heavens.

Ivan understood that she must be using some kind of Secret Technique, as he felt a special aura swirling around him, which then landed on the curse mark.

Once everything returned to normal, he looked at his arm, puzzled, as it seemed unchanged.

He looked up at Mavis, whose face rarely showed a hint of embarrassment; she also noticed that 'Song of Spring Dawn' had failed, this place after all was not the Fairy World.

"Come a little closer," Mavis said.

As Ivan moved forward a step, puzzled, she quickly leaned in and kissed him on the side of his lips, a fleeting touch.

"You are the first to receive my blessing in such a manner, I bless your curse mark to stay in the state of 'Early Spring' for a hundred years, not to be governed by other creatures, not to be observed by other creatures—"

In the goddess' blessing, the curse mark underwent a wondrous change.

Ivan felt a lightness wash over him, as if he had shed a heavy lock on his soul, and he became fresher and brighter.

When he came back to his senses, Mavis was nowhere to be seen.

"Your Grace, Mavis Your Grace." Ivan noticed the pervasive chanting around him had faded, he called softly a few times, but seeing no response, he bowed solemnly before walking out.

After he left, the statuesque figure came back to life, whispering faintly:

"Wisdom Elder, is he also one of your favored ones? I did not expect to meet him in Danaila, since it is your guidance, I will wait for him for a hundred years."
